On May 9th, I posted this topic: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,188366.msg1675223.html#msg1675223
Yesterday, I came back from my endo. I will be on T in two weeks so yay for that!
But he told me some bad news.. He told me that I won't be growing anymore. That I had my growth spurt already and that you basically stop growing after your first monthly - which is at age 11 for me. First time -ever- hearing that..
To be honest, I don't believe him. I just.. I just can't! My mom doesn't believe him either. Neither does my therapist. I told my therapist and he basically told me he doesn't believe that and that I would still grow. He has always said that I would "shoot up". I believe him more - not only because I want to believe him - but because he's going for his doctors, and that he knows more things that have newer information. He knows a lot of psychology, blah blah..
My endo said that I was done growing as if he knew 100%. But, I asked my female friend and she told me that she had her growth spurt -after- her first monthly.
Since I was still in female puberty, since the hormone blockers, could T make me taller? I doubt my growth plates are fused, so can/would I still grow? I'm not even mentally developed (that's a fact), so I don't think I'm done with puberty.
From what I've read, I've read that if you want to know how tall you would be when your an adult - just look at your mom (for FTMs and females).. My mom is 5'6. That's a 5 inch difference!
I feel like my endo is wrong, he acts like he knows everything. He's blunt and the first visit - he was ignorant and didn't use my proper pronouns and name.
Can/would I grow taller since I was still in puberty? I will still be taking hormone blockers with T for around 2 more years so...
(Edit) Also, I'm 99.9999...% sure that last year, I was 5'0. This year, I'm 5'1(possibly and a half).. I feel like I haven't been growing because of the hormone blockers since there's no hormones in my body to help me grow taller.
Also (again) I still have baby fat, if it makes a difference. I know because I have gone to the gym and I can't lose any weight, all I can gain is muscle.
My mom just told me that when she had her first monthly, she was for sure not 5'6.
Second opinion sounds like is in order in regards to that. I don't by that at all. Congrats on starting T soon. Hugs

Second opinion sounds.. what? Sorry, I don't quite understand what you are talking about... I'm kinda slow, sorry. Can you please clarify? Thanks, though!
Regarding the growth plates your concerned about. I would get a second opinion in regards to what the Endo said.
Yeah, maybe. I'm kind of scared to see what they say though XD Thanks!
I know and can understand that totally, but worst that can happen is hearing the same thing. Hugs

Definitely get a second opinion. However, growth I have found is totally random based on genetics and other factors.
You know what? I really slowed down growing in my early teens, and pretty much stopped, like a girl (and I'm MTF). I've been 170cm like, forever. I have had issues with my T levels as well manifesting itself as gynecomastia and virility issues.
Meanwhile I had friends who grew well into their early 20s and even among siblings there is variation. In fact my brother is a whole 5 inches taller than me.
Don't panic I think, you're starting T in your teens so you may have a good chance.
Good luck!

Quote...It is true that a girl s growth slows down once she starts her periods, but it doesn t stop completely. For the next two years after the period starts, there is usually a little bit more growth, about one to three inches. There are usually not large growth spurts once the period starts.
There is a formula that we use in pediatrics to estimate the size one expects a child to be, based solely on the parents heights. This is called the mid-parental height. It does not give an accurate prediction of a child s ultimate height, but does give a range, based on genetic factors. If either of the parents had health problems as a child, then this estimate may not be accurate.

Quote...Myth: menarche means the end of growth is near
The reality is that the average gain in height after menarche is about 7 cm (3 inches), and it is even greater for girls who menstruate on the early side of normal...

True, but I don't come from a short family - on the guys side though. And I'll try not to panic - I'm an overthinker :P ! Thanks!
