My normal plan for my birthday is to see if I can get through the day without anybody noticing it's my birthday. Long ago, about age 12 or 13 at Christmas I realized what I received was probably something I didn't really want and what I wanted was far to expensive for others to buy for me. After I meet my roommate and we shared a condo, I would remember my roommates birthday as it was important to her but I would do my best to allow mine to slip by without notice. I would consider it a success if I was able to have two or three month pass before she would ask me what she did for my birthday. Occasionally I would luck out and she wouldn't remember it at all.
When I placed my birthdate in my profile, it wasn't with the desire to advertise my birthday. I realized early on that I would be providing a good deal of advice so I decided to put up and avatar and my birthday so that others would know a little more about me. Yes my avatar is 30 years out of date but I really haven't been able to capture a decent picture of my current self to put up.
In any case, this year I was a total failure. My mother, our employe and Christine78 independently conspired to spoil my plans. After about an hour and a half, nothing was going on at work and my mom sent me home probably because I no longer had any room on my desk to do anything. As they say, pictures or it didn't happen.
Well if any birthday should be remembered it's yours ..... I'll never forget you holding my hand to the gate and freedom....😘

As one non-millennial to another, I should tell you that they have these "smart" phones these days. And, amazingly, the phone has a camera in it!!! Will wonders never cease?
Anyway, if you point that camera lens looking part of the phone at you, you can take a picture of yourself. And, as it turns out, you do NOT need any special background to take that picture.
Try it some time. We all would LOVE it... ;D

I have both a good smart phone and about $1,800 in Pentax camera gear. I have also hand years of experience taking pictures of others and things. I make a special effort to capture images that are difficult to capture. I love existing light and candid shots because they are a challenge. That doesn't help much when I am trying to take a picture of my self and the attempts have made so far have been pretty bad. My avatar was taken by my roommate shortly after we met and it's probably one of the last pictures anybody took of me.
