Title: A New Twist On the Trump Ban on Transgender Military
Post by: Denni on August 04, 2017, 09:07:49 AM
There is an excellent article in the "Opinion" section of our city newspaper and in the LA Times by one of their columnist's. Her name is Bonnie Tsui, she is also the author of "She Went To The Field" a history of female soldiers in the civil war. The subject of the article was, "Before transgender was a word, women served as men".  One can only hope that our people in command and our congress will take the time to read this and look at the article earlier this week that was signed by 56 retired generals and admirals stating that this ban would do nothing but harm our military.
One  very interesting fact has come out since then, part of the tweet stated that the cost associated with transgender military was prohibitive. The cost to the military with Viagra prescriptions is greater, compared to transgender health care. Would be interesting to see what he would have to say about that, would it not? Hugs to all who serve and to those of us who have.

I completely agree with you, it would be interesting to see how they would react, although being a proud Canadian and ex-military myself I know for a fact that your identity in the military is meaningless. What matters is how seriously you take your training, how professional you act while in and out of uniform, and when the time comes to have someone else's back you know for damn sure that they will also have yours. The military isn't an old man's club, it's a Nationwide unity of many different people from many different walks of life who all blend into the vast construct of the military and simply put become a number to the powers that be. So yes I am a Canadian and although Trump is America's biggest ego right now, I take these topics very seriously. It doesn't matter to me where you served or who you served for, if you wore a uniform and did so proudly for the freedom and protection of your country and all the freedom it stands for. I for one continue to uphold the standards and morals of the Canadian military, (although I have since left) ready and willing to defend or offer aid to anyone in need. How Trump disrespects the American military and the history that goes along with it appalls me, America would not be a country were it not for militias and the Son's of Liberty who fought for freedom. Sorry if I have my facts wrong but, America would be much different without military influence throughout it's history and to Trump is stepping on all of that to say he's "the best there ever was" I can tell you without the Son's of Liberty, Trump would never have reached the position he is in now and it's obvious he takes it for granted unwilling to appreciate everything that led him to the Presidency, hell even being as rich as he is can be rooted back to America's birth (in a good way :) ).

Sorry about my rant, venting in my home is generally looked down upon as a sign of anger and anger is also not allowed in my household so being transgender is frustrating (haven't told my disapproving parents yet) and I have more than bumped my head with my parents more times than I can count.
