Title: Staying Vigilant
Post by: Buffy on July 07, 2008, 01:48:56 AM
Due to the nature of our community, we shall from time to time attract attention from people other than those that genuinely need help or are giving help.

Sometimes people open an account who's intentions are not always within the best interests of any of the members here and can best be described as trolls or predators.

This happens regularly in chat, but not so regularly in the forums.

The staff at Susan's work hard in keeping this site safe and secure and many issues we deal with are not seen by the majority of the members.

Recently it was brought to our attention that a person who had joined the site had been banned from other sites and chat rooms because of their predatory nature. This is rare but unfortunately happens. That person has now been removed from the site.

This is a safe and secure site, but the staff do need your help if you receive unsolicited PM's or e-mails from members or non-members, then please let use the report option to notify the staff.

Once again, personal information should NOT be given out to anyone, who you may not know or you have any doubts about.

With your help the site will remain safe and secure for the genuine people that come here.

Wow. That's a scary thought. Thanks for keeping an eye out, and now that I'm more aware of it, I will most definitely be more vigilant.  :(

Heck, Laura, as long as you don't do it on the board you can probably tie 'em to a stake and toast their lil piggies one by one!! I'm afraid doing it here would violate a few board rules! ;)

If you get a PM you feel is inappropriate, I encourage you to use the [report to admins] button on the PM page.

Thank you, Krystal. Even though Susan is paying us all exorbitantly and obscenely rich salaries to do the job the best perks are the ones that arrive like your post, unexpectedly and positive for the work we do.

Thank you!

... that... isn't funny... (((I... really REALLY hope you're not serious, and you're somehow making a sarcastic reference to a profession I used to make money from... sarcastic or not... whoa... eeeeek!!!)))

EDIT: [[ FYI ... not sure if there's supposed to be a proper pic in there... I just see a beige box that says "not connected to server" or something like that ]]
