Talk about your collections here and why you collect them.
I like Soviet medals.
Yellow labs! :) I have had a string of them from shelters. Nice topic!
Hugs, Devlyn
So far just dust and memories :D
There's no dust on you, girl!
Hugs, Devlyn
Guess your right, that is more like moss. Either way we do like to shake it baby.
My wife collects shot glasses and dolls. My daughter collects keychains and stuffed animals. I collect the bills.
i collect yamaha motorcycles, 2 dirt bikes and 2 street bikes, im debating selling them to pay for ffs
Guitars. I lost count of how many I have. 25 or so?
Teddy bears and other little friends. 100+
CDs. 2000+
Tiki bartifacts. I have a serious tiki bar in my den.
Kitchenware. I can go to Williams-Sonoma or Sur La Table and find nothing I need or want. I have a professional quality kitchen and I'm not afraid to use it.
Shoes. 50+ pairs. My wife and I wear the same size.
Tools. I have a garage full. My contractor usually borrows them when he works here.
Concert ticket stubs. I have 1000 or so from the last 30 years.
I collect stuffed animals. They're all in/on my bed, so it's a good thing I'm 4' 10", or I wouldn't fit in, I've probably got 200+.
I collect hockey cards and old coins.
Magic the Gathering cards. In a way, at least. I'm not going out of my way to get every single card there is (I'd be in broke and in debt if I did that). But if I have just one piece of some rare/mythic rare, I'm not trading it away unless I get something I REALLY want in return fetch lands.

Just curious-are the concert ticket stubs all from concerts that you have went to, or is it a combination of that and buying some for a collection? :)
Being somewhat of a collector/hoarder I can risk getting overwhelmed by my collections if I don't keep a handle on it.
I love elderly English bicycles and mostly prefer Hercules bicycles, but have others as well.
I collect bicycle licence plates and bicycle tyre repair kit tins.
I was into fantasy wargaming at one time and still have a huge High Elf army as well as a Goblin army. Mostly metal OOP model figures because I prefer them to plastic. I should really sell them all though because I don't seriously play anymore.
I did used to collect tinplate toys, - mostly railway/trainset. I've been slowly selling off my collection though as I need the money. I used to own large scale 'G' scale railway models too, but had to sell those when I first became ill and had lengthy problems with being able to get the Invalid's pension. Sometimes I will still make the occasional large scale railway model by hand if the mood takes me, but I no longer buy any commercially made models.
Lego; - I got into Lego (and Lego clone sets) after I had a bad relapse with this illness I have. It was a good way to get my hand/eye co-ordination and my brain working again. I own thousands of Lego bricks and parts, - far too many really. I build mostly railway related models (I come from a railway family so got the bug early).
I have fantasy wargaming armies composed of Lego and Megablok minifigs and Playmobil 'klickies' too which are fun and I much prefer them to my serious wargaming models.
Tools; I like tools, especially old tools. I don't like working with power tools much so old handtools are something I really like. I don't have anything like the tool collection I used to own when I was still a truck mechanic, but I have enough to do whatever I want to do out in my workshop.
I luv Legos!
I have the start of decent collection of sculptured chess pieces. But haven't obtained any in a while. I'm a photographer too, so one could say I collect photos (gotta do some purging on that soon tho)
oh! and well two desktops, a laptop, a chromebook, a netbook and a kindle fire (not mention the Surface 3 that I have from work) perhaps not a collection..maybe an obsession?

Unfortunately Kim I know exactly what you mean (sigh).
I do have an unintentional assortment of small boats and bicycles but that is one danger of having a barn :D There is a fine line, for some of us, between collector and hoarding. >:-)
Patterns and magazines for knitting, crochet, sewing, cross stitch, etc. Oh, and cardigans, don't think I'll ever not want more!
i collect thigns that have 2 do with turtles and i have a whole turtle shelf with turtle related memorabilia on it
I forgot to mention that I also collect some liquid paperweights and homemade wave bottles.
Challenge coins.
wild onions
I collect model horses. Breyers and Stones. I got a little carried away with it in '08 and have over 100.
sam1234
Godzilla toys, and badges ^_^
I like to collect retro games from the 90's and early 2000's. (Loosely using the term retro here.) Also books and Game Of Thrones related stuff.
I collect the sands of time, hour glasses. They signify the time in which we live on this planet, and how each and every grain of sand is a memory, or a footstep in the way that we will eventually leave our own personable mark in the world.

Amiibo. I suppose I also technically collect video games.
I like to collect currency from other countries. I currently have banknotes from South Korea, Canada, Macedonia, Hong Kong, Belarus, and Fiji. Also I have some of the old Deutsche Mark coins from Germany.
Barbie dolls and Lego. The higher end Barbies. It's been a few years since I've bought one thiugh.

Rocks. Or more specifically any shiny or specially colored rock. My current favorite piece in my collection is a moss agate. I bought it from a nice old guy a while back.
Stuffed animals, particularly Wrinkles dogs. Apparently I also collect antique motorcycles - wasn't intended but seems to be going that way :o
I havn't been hardcore at collecting since I was very passionate about a starwars thing every pay. I usually grab a funko pop when I'm on a trip now or an amiibo.
If I was wealthy I'd collect more guitars (I have 5)
I have a fair few RC cars, and I build lego when I'm sad
Keychains, dragon-themed items and maps of fictional settings.
I could say something snarky like "I collect regrets and failure" or I could talk about some war gaming models but I got those to play not to collect.
So I guess I will just be honest, I collect stories, memories, life. I collect them, retell them, and embellish them to improve there entertainment factor. Some are one minute tales mostly long jokes, or touching moments from peoples lives, others are elaborate tales that take real time to tell. Some are totally honest truth, others are true from a certain point of view and still others are as true as the teller can make them. Its a weird thing to collect, as my collection really only has value when I am sharing it with others.
Serena
Hosiery - tights, stockings, body suits and leotards; zentai; vintage lingerie - girdles and corsets....more more more! They make me feel so feminine and sexy. Oh, and shoes! Its actually good that my feet are a bit on the large size otherwise we would be living in a large shoe box.
mine is a bit weird
old foreign currencies/modern foreign currencies, coins only but old bills sometimes too. got my collection from my dad, who has a collection of deutschmarks, soviet russian-era money (i believe0, francs, etc. which i was obsessed with as a kid. we also have one of each coin for both of my parent's native countries, which is nice, and a plate of coins from my birthyear. :)
I collect polaroid photos as well, and take my own when i travel.
i collect pins/badges! mostly music-related and from places where i travel
i collect old books and cds as well. i have over 200 books which is pretty cool, most of them i inherited or got really cheap/free. i have some from the 1800's! as for CDs i just have a small collection of musicians who have interesting music or history.
I collect military items but not so much any more.
I have a huge collection of pigs and bull terrier items. My smallest pig is 1/4 inch long and the biggest almost life size. His name is Midas and I got him from a friend. He came with the name Midas because my friend went out and came home truly smashed. His wife asked him where the pig came from and he didn't know what she was talking about. He came downstairs and there in his living room was "Midas". He has no idea even to this day where it came from but the name Midas was because he had spent a fortune that night.
I got Midas as a bribe to undertake a paying commission for my friend.
Love,
Clare
I collect memories of good sex and other positive experiences.
I collect cats; I have 3 now, and I wish I could have more. :)
I had an affectionate black kitten when I was a child. I still miss him.
No need to change the subject, though ;-)
Coca-Cola memorabilia including a 100 year old key wind wall clock with Drink Coca-Cola on the face, a pack of 1957 Coca-Cola playing cards still sealed with the old Federal Luxury Tax seal and a straight sided amber glass early 1900s Coke bottle with the paper label still on it.
Pentax 35mm cameras and the old Takumar lenses made out of metal and glass.
One other collection that stays in a safe.

Quite a few Yamahas... Very nice!
I collect memorabilia of certain videogames. And statues or model kits of some figures also, but not that many since I also make statues and model kits myself.
I had a clearout a year or two back and sold everything off as I was expecting to move to another country in a few yrs... but I seem to have started collecting again... ::) ;D
I'm a borderline hoarder, so I "collect" a lot of things, if unintentionally ::). One thing that I have actively made a collection of is bouncy balls.
As of right now I have a collection of small model cars and band shirts. Good stuff yo

I have added a Chevrolet Corvette C7, a Nissan 370Z, and a Dodge Challenger drift car.
My family and I are coin collectors. We are collecting australian coins, old Aussie dollar notes and other coins have Queen Elizabeth on the back. I was so excited when The old man in my block of units gave me a round 50c coin.
I'm wicked late typing in this thread but iv'e always enjoyed collecting rocks
i used to go to stores that sold rocks and collect them or i'd go to mountains where rocks where
and dig around it and find rocks or diamonds never found anything hugely interesting on my own but iv'e always liked rocks and things i don't really know why i like the looks of them i guess.
I also have a weird thing with collecting hats i really like hats so i tend to pick up a hat any chance i get.
MP3s. I used to collect records and CDs but it became impractical. So I've digitized my hobby instead.
I collect cards (of many different types, superhero cards, old Pokemon cards, soon to be more sports related cards), and CDs, as well as old tickets and things such as business cards and pamphlets.
I collect amiibo's the figures from nintendo i dont collect the cards have them all except for one usa exclusive.
I collect Yugioh! card, mostly to build decks that are underrated and overlooked.
I also collect video games.
And what I collect most is comicbooks. I have a few drawers full of book that came out from about 1980-2010.
I particularly collect Top Cow stuff especially Cyberforce, because no one else is very interested in it, therefore, I have the majority of the Cyberforce books that have ever been printed for around 10$ total. That's quite the deal for the best X-men copycat!
I collect men, only joking!
I used to collect Range Rovers, I had 6 in the end. I wanted a different colour one for each day of the week.
Had to get rid of them a few years back.
I also collect Transformers, the Robots in Disguise variety.
The hubby and I collect dragons. Most are ceramic, and are everywhere in the bedroom.
I don't actually collection things yet do have a lot of guitars and gear for them and have been playing them all my life. One has followed me for the past 40+ years, a gold top Gibson Les Paul, others come and go.
Numismatic bullion coins, mostly American silver eagles. And fractional silver, Anything under 1 ounce. I love those cute little one gram bars with all the different designs on them.
What a great thread. I collect old backpacking stoves. I am an old hippy backpacker from the late 60's and I always loved the details of the stoves I used. The present day stoves just don't have the detail and workmanship of the old stoves.

I used to collect rocks too.
I would say that I collect photos... I love photography and I am always taking pictures. It is my favourite hobby. I don't do anything with 90% of them other than amass them. Prior to digital photography, I had many albums worth of photos. Now I have hard drives full of them. For me, the joy is in taking the pictures more than in displaying them.

Things I collect:
Dresses
Shoes
Wigs
1/72 military minatures
Little bit weird, but I love collecting different types of alcohol bottles.
Well then, a new thing to collect.
Tau miniatures from Warhammer 40.000.
Completely dead computers
i like to take them apart but i don't put them back together, there isn't any need and i don't got the cash i also never put one together before but am i capable of it of course learning is easy. it's just i don't want to don't need to. :D
I find a dead computer of a persons and i'll ask can i have that? They often say yes so i've got my own collection.

Is this considered hording?
nah.
historic maps. I love to explore ghost town sites, old mines and homesteads, and other abandoned human activities.
took me a while to figure out how to count them. i have 33,797 digital music tracks. not really sure how many artists and albums though. i am currently converting them to mp3 to make room because external hard drives are so darn expensive.

i yam too.
I collect notebooks. It sounds weird, but I feel safe with at least three notebooks with me at all times
I collect books: Old books, new books, smelly books YUM!!! ;D
I try NOT to collect things, keep using the "Life-changing magic of tidying up" book's advice to keep shoveling things out the door I'm not using.
Besides, I live in a one-room apartment now.
1. photos of birds and wildlife I've taken, but store them in the cloud.
2. tool and hardware collection, enough to fix or build any invention that pops into my head at the moment.
3. Kindle books, but I keep re-reading them, so they aren't just a collection.
4. pets, when I lived on my Kentucky farm, but my apartment in southern Thailand doesn't allow them. Still, I'm illegally keeping a local jungle bird, an Asian Fairy-bluebird, one of the species that inspired me to move to Thailand.

I guess it could be said that i 'collect' comics. But it's more I just buy them weekly and have never thrown any out... I more just sort of 'have' them... :p
