I don't understand how the parents a) discovered the source of the blood; and b) then were able to find the residential address for the women who donated it ???
I'm more confused about the really lax adoption laws in place. It was apparently totally okay for the parents to leave an infant at a stranger's house and for that stranger to raise said infant?

India is a very different legal environment. No HIPPA medical privacy protections. Many poor Indians (especially in rural areas) may not even have formal identity documents. In some regions, India is very modern and sophisticated. But traveling just a few miles away, you may as well be going back a thousand years.
According to the article, the child is now attending school. That's good. I suspect her birth parents never had that opportunity.

That's so messed up. I'm amazed at the fact that LGBT+ people get all type of crap for wanting to adopt yet straight couples are never questioned about reproducing and yet they pull crap like this.
This kind of action makes me wonder why some people become parents at all, if they can just give up their child for such a reason.
I get that they have different view points in different places but if you have a child and love them unconditionally nothing should separate you from them at all.
It's a tragic story. But she's a lucky little girl. She's being raised by a mother who loves her and cares for her after being abandoned by ignorant and fearful people who couldn't love her.
Though I think this story is horrible and barbaric in part and loving charity in another, I have to remember that these are my views from my personal standards of decency which are a product of my upbringing. I have to keep in mind that social mores are not the same everywhere in this world. This doesn't mean I am condoning such actions, rather it's an acknowledgement that there are differences in other parts of the world that I do not understand.
It is a strange story. I know that things may be done differently in India but why did the hospital give the donor's name and address to the parents of the recipient? And tell them that the donor is trans? Really just because they wanted to thank the donor? There are modern blood banks in India. I am surprised that the hospital even knew who the donor was.
How did the story become news? Did someone start asking where a trans woman got a child, and reporters decided to investigate?
The article says

To whom did the hospital confirm that? To "Rekha"? To the reporter?
"Rekha's" story may be absolutely true but I would need a lot more data to be sure of it.

These two sentences say everything about this tragic, but at the same time rewarding story.
I was in foster care for a few years myself. It is much better to be raised by someone who loves you than by another who just birthed you and cannot care for you.
