Title: breast diseases and conditions in MtF girls
Post by: Undead Cat on September 22, 2017, 11:49:41 PM
How common are benign breast conditions (cysts,  fibrocysts,  fibroadenomas,  lobular/ductal hyperplasia,  fat necrosis,  mastitis, sclerosing adenosis,  intraductal papillomas , macromastia,  granular cell tumors, fibrosis, radial scars, adenosis,  duct ectasia, phyllodes tumors, lcis/lobular hyperplasia, calcifications,   cyclical pain , etc) in transfeminine people taking full AA+E HRT or P or AA only HRT? Do you know anyone? How old were they and how old were they when they started what hormones ?

How common is breast cancer in trans girls too?

Pretty low I'd suspect. Very small test pool and most go stealth so you wont see much of an in depth study. Breast cancer is quite low from the limited studies they have done.

In my opinion, if you transitioned as a younger person, you should have the same incidence of all these problems. Since the total number of us is very small in comparison to the general population, the data is just not there.

For us older transitioners, there are some benefits to HRT that seem to mitigate some problems with the chronic diseases of the breasts, since we have not had female sized breasts very long.

There is some evidence both for and against any additional problems. Some trans women have had problems with non bio-identical Estrogens. But the bio-identical Estradiol is very safe and reported complications are much less than with Ethinylestradiol, for example.

Estradiol is bio-identical. Premarin and birth control pills are not.

For a resource just google WebMD or Wikipedia and search for Estradiol. If you have access to subscription medical sites such as Micromedex, it has more technical info than the public sites.
