Title: fat redistribution during HRT
Post by: jenn90210 on May 23, 2012, 07:35:19 PM
hi everyone :)

so i started HRT a couple of months ago and I don't seem to fully understand what people mean by "fat redistribution".  is it that the existent fat in your body moves to other parts such hips and breast, or does it mean that the fats you eat after starting HRT will go to those other parts. i'm sorry if this sounds really stupid, but i really wanna know.

xoxo
Nicole

Basically the later. It tends to deposit in more female areas.

Correct. Fat does not move. It will start to accumulate in new/more characteristically female areas.

From what I know, we burn fat constantly, and then gain some.
Being on AA's and estrogen will eventually send all the new fat into more female areas.

Exercise is recommended for actual results though.

Expect your jeans to be loose in the waist and tight in the hip. A little cute pot belly will appear just below your umbilicus. Facial fat pads will enlarge, and in addition the breast will not only develop new glandular tissue but will increase fat accumulation too.

All happy changes brought to you by the magic blue pill

How fast does it generally happen? I have kind of wide hips as it is for a guy so I would almost worry about to drastic too soon. People might notice before I am ready for them to

The amount of time it takes to happen varies on genetics. For some it happens in the first few months to a year into it, others may take 2 or more years to see any change.

My face/neck area seems to have changed a little...

Neck has less under the chin.

"Apples" of the cheeks are more prominent (areas of the cheeks between the jaws have reduced a little)

Eyelids are more...girlish? Also, vision has changed a tiny bit...I need my magnifiers more often now.

I have hooded eyelids, and before HRT I couldn't open them up completely, without a LOT of effort. Once on E, I can open my lids (exposing the "hooded" area) easily...so I suppose it's more/better muscle control?

I think mine started getting wider at around day 5 or 6, it happened really fast for me, and I do have wide hips being bio male. However it isn't like, perfect yet, of course, I still think I have a ways to go. But I don't think results like mine are very typical.

Dunno which one it is, but I've drastically changed my diet and started exercising (cardio) a lot since I started HRT two months ago - and I'm noticing quite a bit of fat redistribution. Since I'm losing weight (18lbs so far) it seems to me that existing fat does redistribute, whether is is getting burned and replaced, or simply being moved around.

I've noticed fat accumulating in my chest (quite a bit), thighs, and butt.
