So far I bought a few pieces of non-neutral masc clothing and another sports bra, got a very masculine armband tattoo last week, and I'm keeping my hair short. Oh, and I got a full-body massage a month ago with full-on leg and pit hair and the masseuse didn't bat an eye!

I talked with my new doctor who agreed to up my daily estradiol dose, which I now split & take twice daily. Also got more electrolysis on my beard and bought some new women's chinos for work. My hip measurement has increased an inch+ over the past two months and men's pants don't fit well any more.

Since I became full time about 16 months ago in late 2016 I immediately quit my very good job and moved to a new very small town and started my own small business where I deal with mostly business people and middle/upper class clients.
Since I made that move to my new life I always pass 100% and life is good.  I have made lots of new friends, acquaintances and business friends that see me only as a female.  Now in 2018 my personal and business relationship are blossoming.  I have a group of girlfriends that frequently socialize with, I shop with and go to the local gym with and passed the locker room scenario, and all of that is very enjoyable and satisfying......
                    BUT
.... now new issues this last month... I have a male suitor it appears, most likely more than one.   In another thread I mentioned that he asked me to go to dinner with him this week, and I have been so bad, I have not given him an answer yet.   I know that the right thing to do is if we do go to dinner that I tell him about myself before things progress further, that is only fair to him.... but because I now live in a very small town, if he knows, it won't be long until everyone in town knows so if that is the case I will try to make sure people hear directly from me and NOT the town gossip grapevine.  How this will affect my business and all of my new relationships is most uncertain but I know what has to be done....

I am very certain that no one here in this town knows of my male past and my transition mostly because I seem to pass most convincingly ... no one knows, at least not yet.
PLEASE send positive vibes my way....  I will try to keep updating here about my dilemma.

After some interesting events in the past two weeks I've decided to start the process for SRS.  That's a decision I've struggled with for a while but I think if I don't start now it will become an "emergency" later.

Even if you go to have dinner with him doesn't mean you must reveal him right at that moment, right?
You can just have dinner and see how it goes!
Hope it'll go well  :D!!!

Oh wow ! You're gorgeous [emoji4] I think you should go if you like him. Is he handsome? You can always wait to tell him until after you get to know each other a bit better.

Have you dated since going full time?

I consider myself post-transition but I suppose I've just continued with weekly electrolysis--just passed the year mark at this point.  I had the epiphany recently that I should probably discontinue spiro for general wellness.

Started HRT in January. Just waiting for the local laser clinic to be set up for NHS funding so I can start facial hair removal.

It's nifty that the NHS covers facial hair removal at all, I'm surprised!  Is it just laser?  Having to pay for electro out-of-pocket gets rather expensive.  (I'm from the US, so no NHS here.)

They'll fund up to £1,600 in treatment. Either laser or electrolysis, whichever is required.

Shiratori, I love your avatar.  I so wanted to be Princess growing up.  As for 2018, I've come out to HR and my boss.  They have given me the okay to transition on the job at my pace, the company will adjust.  I've had a makeover at Sephora.  I'm learning to do my own makeup well.  I'm just about to graduate from a utility purse that is metrosexual to a girly coach purse.  I'm not fully out yet, but getting there.

I've been full time for a year and so far this year....

Family started to call me Sadie for the first time after I told them I was going to medically transition baring any health issues.

Had my first bra fitting even though I'm pre HRT. I just needed to do something everyday, normal.

Made contact with a lot of neighbours that I'd been avoiding.

Cleared my closet of old clothes and gave them to charity. Clearing out the other closet of past events that needed to be addressed once and for all. Still a work in progress but I'm done carrying that load around anymore.

Grown my nails out long, for some reason nails are my thing. I like to have feminine looking hands and take confidence from my paws. Sometimes it's the little things that help most.

Started to exercise again to get fit for any surgeries. Am back to running weight and a healthy BMI. Will start distance running again as soon as the weather warms a little, I miss the hills.

To be honest things are becoming very normal although none of the above came easy and some things at a price.
I'm writing music again, made the house more welcoming, just starting to look after myself for the first time in years, but it's all still one day at a time. :)

Peace and love and all that good stuff,

Sadie

Since November last year I have:

Lost 50 pounds
Grown breasts to a c cup
Developed a figure (46,37,44) So modest but far better than what I had!
Improved my skin and hair
Gone full time (Started Jan)
Begun the process of collecting documentation for orchie
Built a female wardrobe
Removed 60% of my facial hair
Gone from being a curiousity to passing most of the time.
Finally got HRT up to the dose I'll likely keep for the next few years
Got my cholesterol under control
Learned the basics of makeup

I say 2018 is my year!

Just lived my life as the woman I am.  I've pretty much accomplished everything on the transition check list and now I just get to settle into the routine of living as a 56 year old 6'2" woman.  The only thing really left for me to do is offer support, guidance and inspiration to those coming along behind me.

Holding it together really. Going from my masculine cultural DNA past(Polemology), to my new feminine cultural DNA(redefinining at the moment, conservatively), meshing it together, and pressure cooking it under real world conditions, with the help of this place, and a couple of real live humans.

Got my insurance preauthorization back for FFS,
Had my SRS consult a couple weeks ago with Dr Raphael
Finally got my 2nd letter for SRS
Submitted insurance paperwork for SRS
Switched from pills to injections for estradiol
So far I'm on track for a late July, early August misery session with SRS then FFS within 2-3 weeks of each other.  It's going to be great to have that all done but the recovery might be a tad rough.

Other than that just loving life as close to what I should have been as possible.

Yeah, top surgery is nothing right  ;D

I know it's a major thing... but compared to all the stuff I had to jump through to get to it in the last 2 yrs kind of feels like it's just tying up loose ends to finally have it done. And I still have yet to see the results because they won't let me rip the dressings off till Wednesday. So for now all I register is the lack of volume in the chest area, a lot of weird nerve sensations and a crawling desire to get the bandages off because I really want to take a proper shower.

Seems like it should feel more important, I guess it's not sunk in yet.

So far this year, I have came out to my psychiatrist and been diagnosed with gender dysphoria [and she's writing me a carry letter, mostly for my own benefit than anything else]; finalized a name [looking into getting it legal], came out as bisexual.....then decided to be celibate for a while ha ha; have a referral for an endocrinologist [appointment in May] for HRT. I also decided to cut my hair how I want it since I have no one to tell me otherwise. It's way better now.

Aside from gender-specific actions, I have also moved out of an abusive household and out of state, was hired and quit several jobs but settled into being a freelance artist, started working on my GED [I dropped out in middle school to work]. Semi-related to that, started the process for neurodivergent screenings [partially a reason why I dropped out]. Tried a therapist, dropped her, probably going to pick up a different one? Also got into government assistance, health insurance, food stamps, etc.

I've been working on various art projects, a comic, an album, etc. which helps me more than I expected it would.

I have plans but I don't know if I'd get them done within the year. I know I want/need top surgery or a temporary solution to a flatter chest until then. Maybe bottom surgery? Looking into getting my name legal, thinking of correcting my gender legally. Trying to decide when to socialize as "male" [I'm not strictly binary, but male is better than female].

For now, I've trying to work on my mental health and also doing a lot of research for my own transition. Not gender-related, but I plan to go to college after my GED [might use that as a springboard to move again].

My testosterone levels finally dropped to nothing after battling with it for like 2 years. Spiro and whatever else I took with it (forgot the name) did not do a good job at suppressing the nightmare, so I had to get an orchiectomy in order to kill the testosterone. I was CONSTANTLY getting blood tests which I hated, so I am glad I do not have to do that anymore. Finally my estrogen is at a normal Female range, so I guess that is an accomplishment?

I keep saying I started my transition at 21, but technically my T levels were to high for that to happen, so I guess my transition starts now? I do not know honestly. Apparently I already pass as a Female so it does not matter. I did see small changes through those 2 years such as smooth skin, and small breast growth but that is about it.

Scheduled in June for Top, nervous but excited.

My paperwork is taking a heck of a long time to come in because I wasnt born in the state I live in, and I keep making mistakes (not to mention the people processing it blatantly misnaming me the first time despite how obvious that isn't my current name anymore, at least the second time the guy used my name and sent a letter stating "sir or madam" instead or just one incorrect one...still ended up passive aggressively sending the corrected forms back in the envelope under "Sir Mr. First Last", though.)

Well not much for me really. Me being on T isn't exactly news, but I got this year's first shot a few weeks ago. When I only need to take my shots once every 3,5 month, that means I only take it 4 times a year, and the last one last year was sometime in December. But I mean a T shot is always a step forward in transition, even if you've been on it for almost 6 years, right?

Not entirely transition related but a bit indirectly, is that I started a medication to try to treat my vag atrophy that the T that I'm taking caused. I mean, it's not dry, but very sore and stiff and easily gets damaged. Like a bit shriveled up, I suppose! Cause erhm, I've been "bonding" a bit with my vag again, but it's been difficult with that kind of medical issue. I've only taken that medication for a week now but I've already noticed a huge improvement and no side-effects so far, so that's great.

Since I've been starting to consider maybe not getting SRS (or more specifically meta and v-ectomy), I've done a lot of soul-searching for these past 2 months to try to come to a definite decision on that before I'll get a date for surgery scheduled. As I'm on waiting list for that. Oh the irony of having been impatiently anticipating it, to now being stressed out of my mind by how much closer that date is getting... life is strange.

If I will decide to cancel it though, I still want to get a total hysto, so in that case I'll probably have to go back to square one in the general realm of "bottom surgery" to get op for just a hysto. Cause then I wouldn't need to have an SRS surgeon involved or go to that specific hospital, but just a gyno at a closer hospital would do just fine and likely be preferable for the state that pays for it. It would also be easier in terms of travel.

Really makes me wish I had gotten that hysto done in advance when I had the chance in November last year! But yeah, hindsight. It is what it is. I haven't made up my mind entirely about genital surgery yet, so still holding off cancelling, just to be sure that I'm sure first.

This makes me a bit sad and feeling rather down, so I'm gonna try my best to grab myself by the collar and get started with some exercise, to keep my mood from tumbling down too far. As soon as I can kick myself out the door daytime, I'm gonna go for a swim at the local swimming hall. Hopefully that will relieve some of my million tensions.

Oh, and talking to my therapist on Monday.
T shots every 3-5 months? When I had ED, it was 2x a week. Smaller doses though. Originally I was once every 2-3 weeks, but that caused see saw levels. Glad to be off it though as I am mtf. The things we do for love. Funny thing is weight loss helped a lot. Still on the low side, but probably more free t. Anyway...good luck!

No, I meant once every 3 and a half month, as in 14 weeks intervals. It's still seldom though. I take somewhat of a horse dose, that then disperses/releases very slowly over time. It's not the same kind of injectable T that is most often used in the US, that is usually taken once a week or so. Yeah, the things we do for love... reminds me of when I was taking birth control pills in my late teens which unfortunately made my body curvier. Like bigger tits and butt :/
Thank you, and good luck to you too!

Well, I've continued to come out to people around me. If not for a rough schedule at school probably would have fully by now. I've become far more confident and comfortable with myself. Two lasers on beard down, and hair transplant consult tomorrow. Ears pierced, bought women's clothing and makeup in person for a change, AND I FEEL MORE ON THE HORIZON!!

So far:

4/4/2018 - I actually overcame the state of denial I've been in for decades and came to except the fact that I am transgender.
4/6/2018 - Came out to my wife about my revelation and told her that I intend to medically transition. Also changed my gender, but not my name on Facebook.
4/8/2018 - Created a new gmail account using my new name, created an account on this forum, changed my username on Facebook to incorporate my new name (however, my actual name on Facebook is still my birth name). Talked to my wife about starting hair removal, but she said that she wants me to talk to a therapist first. So, instead I ordered my very first dress. I'm more of a jeans and tee shirt girl, but I wanted something feminine to cope with the dysphoria I was feeling at that moment.
4/9/2018 - Ordered new insurance card, because I've never actually used my health insurance before and didn't know where I put it. Came out to my sister though Facebook messenger (she lives in a different state) after getting off the phone with the insurance company.
4/10/2018 - Called and scheduled an appointment with a therapist specializing in transgender issues for May 2nd. I'm hoping she'll be able to help get the ball rolling on getting where I want to be with my transition.
4/12/2018 - Started practicing with some voice femizination exercises I found on Youtube, but I've still too much going through my head to concentrate as much as I'd like to. I'll keep working at it, though.

In my case - a great deal!

Finally came out two months ago to my parents aged 44! Took me three months to write a letter to them and find the right moment. But it went far better than I ever could have imagined, and I've now been to their house twice as Michelle which is absolutely amazing!

I am volunteering in a charity shop as Michelle, and now living a bit half and half each week until I get a new job, I would prefer to start afresh but I have been talking to the equality and diversity officer at my present workplace about possible transition there.

Many friends and a few work colleagues now know about Michelle (I have been going out sometimes as Michelle for 15 years or so but this was more in a TG community bubble or the odd shopping trip or something)

Starting to go down the pathway with the NHS here in the UK too.

Michelle

Came out to my two remaining aunts via email. Not planned in any way. Just decided to send short msgs to inform about my new name and transitioning. (I've been living as a guy since 13 but have had minimal contact with my relatives since and not sure if they are even aware of that...!) Didn't explain, just stated more like, and gave a few links  :). Plus sent pics of me hoping that would make the msg across better than words...! No idea how they'll react. But like I said have had minimal contact so really don't even care.

Well now they know...! And can't pretend they don't anymore. (Actually I already did come out to one of them around...15-16? And she replied she didn't believe me and that it was just a phase. So I severed contact basically. Or stopped emailing back then bcos she also said other hurtful stuff but nevermind. It was a long time ago.)

I made. Post on another board about recent changes

~~~~~~~
Now that I have learned more and have an appointment with a gender specialist, I have more immediate things I have been working out that I'd like to share! :)
~I have been practicing my voice. I already sing for fun so it doesn't seem like work. Its also fun practicing while my coworkers run to grab lunch, etc.
~I have been finding community both here and other places.
~I have been talking with my therapist about gender and consequently learning more about my feelings
~I got panties! I got some high risers from dollar tree and suddenly boxers feel weird. They are still fun to wear, but now it feels a bit like I'm crossdressing as a man :P
~I work at a fabric store and want to learn make clothes for myself. I plan to go to a thrift store soon to expand my wardrobe, but I also think it would be fun and helpful to learn to make clothes. This brought up dreams of getting a dress form someday, which made my heart rate go up.
~I have been working some of my female voice into my male presentation which make me feel warm and fuzzy.
~Before I came out I was one of the many people worried my sexuality was a fetish. As i read many accounts of people that had similar situations and found success it gives hope and excitement.
~My girlfriend was accepting when I came out, but the continued love and support for my evolving feelings means the world.
~Lastly, I trimmed my body hair and face. I still am definitely a fairly hairy fellow, but I wanted to see my face again. I thought it was beautiful. I've kind of never had a strong connection with my body before. There are still things that I would like to change, but it's for amazing how much more present I feel in myself after accepting myself.
Anyway, I just wanted to share what I have been up to and feeling. I feel renewed by all the new things I have been learning about myself and others. Thank you for listening to me jabber.
~~~~~~~

In addition to this, i recently came out to some friends and and family and one of them gave me cute clothes :D

I only recently realized my transgender feelings so all of this is still very exciting to me.

Mine is figuring out who I am!! I may not have come out to anyone but this super supporting community and myself but it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!! Hopefully going to cut my long hair super short (which my family is super chill about)

*also as a side note* I was having a political conversation with my parents (really civil, it's just what we do) and I bought up Trans and gay rights. My mum was like "People can do what they want as long as they aren't hurting people" where as my dad was super supportive and on board with it.
This may seem small but I am terrified of coming out as I don't want to be rejected by my family so hearing that they support the LGBT community was awesome

SRS! It's freaking crazy. I didn't think I'd ever get here. From a suicide attempt in 2017 to learning I was covered by the end of the year. And finally getting surgery just a couple months later. And birth certificate laws are changing, which is something I'd given up on. It's been a year of miracles and for the first time in my life, I'm glad to be alive.

Hang in there, everyone. It definitely gets better.

Birth certificates been revised! Though sadly my state is obnoxious about changing SSC and license and instead of flashing my birth cert which I thought was my ticket, one requires me to go to DPS to fill out and random form and show them a notarized letter saying I had irreversible medical procedure (hopefully HRT or my upcoming top works for that...) and the other needs a letter and my birth certificate...all of which seem pretty moot since I had to send in a notarized letter saying I had medical procedure done to get my birth certificate changed ANYWAYS. Argh!  laws!

Now, what to do next!! ??? :icon_help:

Holy Cow, Danielle! So, not only are you stupendously beautiful, but based on the posts I have read of yours, you might be the most positive attitude person on this planet. I rather expect you are a TON of fun at dinner. And, perhaps this is just because I am really old, but isn't dinner just dinner? (Or is that woefully naïve of me?) He doesn't need to know what used to be in your pants in order to stare dreamily into your eyes, and be amazed by the person you are. There is no way I can tell you what to do, but it seems to me that if you have to tell a guy your deepest secrets before having dinner with him, you better start enjoying female company even more... :-)

I'm, well 2018. I guess it's like everything so far. Came out to my wife just before the end of 17.
Spend January fixing the fact I hadn't included he up to that point and did some casual fem dressing as well as starting on estrogen. February saw me move to full time fem wear but still with face hair. March the desision after lots of conversation that I needed to move forward as Donna and came out to the world. Oh wow the feelings. Eligard on board now to neuter the nuts and then orchi some time after July. Then we will see what's next.

Finally on facebook after name change.....! Feel like I can interact with people again. In a week made 44 new friends and chatted with most of them. (Great improvement since before xmas and susans had zero.) Now I have many people I can talk to plus 1 irl friend + a few irl acquaintances (might become friends).

Contacted some services so I can talk about stuff and sort things in my life out.

Been even connecting with my cousins/relatives I haven't seen for ages.

The best of all: made the first cis guy friend on fb. Just came out to him as trans and sent pics... and he's like totally cool with it...! So that was a huge weight off my shoulders...!

Since the last time I posted in this thread, at my job I've come out to my entire extended work team, the Admin Director, and the HR Administrator. At my request the mandatory department wide staff meeting at the end of August will include a 1.5 hour Transgender 101 from one of the founders of the Transgender Resource Center of NM.

There's been a lot more electrolysis since my last post, and it feels like I'm in the homestretch with that. I've purged the bulk of old male clothing from my closet and donated it, and I'm finally thinking of myself as more & more female.  I've left my house dressed as I like, both with friends and alone, several times in the past couple of weeks. I've started getting more focused on building a work wardrobe for when I go full-time in a couple of months.

Found an inexpensive foundation shade that I believe matches my natural skintone. My joy over that cannot be overstated!

I decided that I cannot abide a full wig for long-term wear and then met with a local wigmaker from whom I've ordered my first custom topper. It should be ready in a couple of months. I'm still not quite sure how I'm going to pay it off when it's ready, but I did put a full deposit down on it.

I've had a couple of unexpected "male fails" with shop clerks in recent weeks.

I see my primary care doctor tomorrow and will ask about when I can schedule my orchie. I'll also talk with her about the letter I need to start the process of changing the gender marker on my birth certificate. I've researched next steps for changing my name. Oh, and I finally settled on the name I'll be using once I go full-time.

Wow, seeing it written out I now feel like there's been a lot accomplished!! Now if I could just find a bunch of cute shoes that I like, lol

So far in 2018 I got my three letters for gcs, found a great supportive pcp who actually understands hormones and just six days ago had gcs. Pretty good so far, but I still need to legally change my birth certificate since I was born in a state that requires a physicians letter to update it, with any luck I will manage it before the end of the year.

So far, this year:

I stopped taking anti-androgens after they were affecting my mood too severely
Successfully suppressed my T with Estradiol pills - last test showed 14 total, .15 free
Celebrated my hormoniversary in April
Moved from MA to WI to live with the love of my life
Found my inherent connection to womanhood instead of feeling like I'm "putting her on"
Became a blonde, which I LOVE and where I'll stay...and my hair has reached shoulder length!
I've developed a very lovely figure at 37-29-36.  My boobs feel really real and are a full A, which at 5'1 is great.  Still hoping to continue the growth because I'd like to be a full B and don't want to get a BA
Started writing for the news section of this site, which I am loving.  It's so great to be doing what I want to do and be recognized for my efforts
I've been letting go of habits, behaviors and defense mechanisms that I had previously thought were just "how I am."  Learning to communicate genuinely, stop holding my feelings and thoughts against myself, and actually love me as I am.
I got my REAL ID with my correct name and gender so I can fly and go to Canada!  Next is my passport, which I have everything for but have been stalling for no particular reason.  I think I just don't wanna rush through all of the firsts lol

Coming up:
My partner and I are celebrating our first anniversary in NYC in two weeks!!
I'll be getting onto her health insurance as a domestic partner next month, so I can start looking into consultations for FFS and GCS
I plan to restart electrolysis once we figure out the pre-authorization process with said insurance
Continue learning more of who I am and healing the wounds that were inflicted by life and by myself

Reached 1 year on HRT!
Top surgery :)
Got my name legally changed and my new passport. Next stop: Getting my license for the first time and its with my proper name :)
Another big thing has been my perception of my body since top surgery. I still don't love everything about my body (love handles, desire for more facial hair) but after top surgery I finally feel like I'm in the right body. And I love every second of it.

Really realizing, that I am much grumpier, easier to 'anger' or at least easier to get upset while my T is in the normal Male range and that I am significantly much happier / have a better disposition while my T is down and my Estrogen levels are in the normal female range.

Must talk to my therapist about this development this week. I need back on my E!!!!

2018 was my second year on HRT. I have lost about 45 lbs this year and now hover around 200 after being as high as 298. I have not reported depression in over a year. I attend two support groups which is fabulous because it affirms I am not in this by myself anymore. We go out to dinner on a regular basis in all our glory. My family is supportive and while I don't always dress around the house I do get out in public two or three times a week. I love getting compliments even though I am 6'3" and 67 years old as of next month. My service providers are now lifetime friends whom I never would have met otherwise. I am happy most the time. I can't say that used to be the case. I have survived four hospital visits this year. Anger is a thing of the past. I have become compassionate and caring, and while sometimes I tell the truth when maybe I shouldn't, I am learning to do a better assessment of when to do so. I look forward to many more years of contentment as the person I was meant to be. Just living the dream/

The state I was born in (Florida) had always refused to change anyone's birth certificate for any reason. They have recently changed the law and/or policy. Today, some twenty nine years after I had my name legally changed, I got my birth certificate in the mail. It has my name on it and my correct gender.

Bought a lot of clothes,  found out I look super great in tank tops
Bought a lot of make-up, enough to get my girlfriend a bit jealous
Told trusted friends
Told HR and management
Sort of came out at work. At least enough that anyone paying attention knows something is up
Got to passing often enough that friends I'm with don't notice anyone staring
Started HRT
Figuring out timeline on document changes

Even though I have been living in my new small town and running my business as a full-time woman when I relocated  here in December 2016, it was only about 6 months ago in March 2018 that I came out and revealed my secret to my friends, business clients and my several romantic interests... and essentially to my entire small town. It was like a big heavy weight was lifted off of my shoulders allowing me to live more freely and be more open with all of those that I come across.

I have had overwhelming acceptance with only a couple of bad encounters, and when those bad encounters happened all of my friends came to my rescue and set the very few perpetrators straight and told them off.

I have also become more comfortable in the dating scene with both men and women of interest.  Very exciting and sometime frightening as well...  all new territory for me.

This is such an interesting idea, Danielle. In my head, I have told myself that if I totally passed, I wouldn't tell anyone. I kept the real me well-hidden for a very long time. I was pretty sure I could keep the fake me hidden forever. But you felt a weight was lifted when you shared the secret.

I had "The Talk" with a co-worker last week, and I shared that I wouldn't likely meet with customers dressed as me. Her response: You sound like a woman, you move like a woman, you look like a woman, how would they know any different? I had the momentary thought, "What if...?" And, I reinforced that idea that if no one knew, I would not want to tell. (Unfortunately, I do believe she is quite innocent in her perspective...)

As usual, Danielle, you are VERY interesting, and provide LOTS to think about...

This is what I have accomplished...

At first when I was a child and adolescent I didn't know I was transgender. But I did knew that my behavior, expression and interest where normal feelings to me, I didn't think gender was involved. I was myself.

But society told me I wasn't supposed to behave, act and feel that way.

Then came a long life of living in the unknown, uncertainty and not to happy with myself. Until finally I realized it and found the answer to myself.

I came out to the world in 2 months time: I am female. I am a transwoman.

Then I started transitioning. I wanted that woman inside of me to come to the outside. I was constantly thinking... Female... Woman... Transwoman... I need to get out of this male body. I did. I really think I did do that... I'm amazed how beautiful the woman that was inside of me is now outside and can freely express herself.

You know what?

I am back at the time of being a child and adolescent again. In my feelings I don't see a gender, I see myself the way I am meant to be.

I am... Myself.

And I'm one amazing beautiful transwoman, or as I like to say: woman of trans experience.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned to my therapist that on more and more days I just didn't do well because of my intense feelings of feminity as compared to sliding back and forth, like the low and high tide, between my male and female feelings, thoughts and actions. We talked about going on E for relief but I just did not have it in me to make a really big mtf transition commitment.

I have been on psytoE for four years now and Fin and have had some really positive femming up.  I know it is not the same as Mtf Hrt for potential effectiveness for most people.

I did though decide to possibly try some someday to see if it would help with dysphoria.  I have now had my labs and recently, a regular physical, both with good results.  I do not know if this is real progress or not.  This is like aiming at a target of some kind but not taking the next step.

What is real progress is me getting more comfortable being more feminine and all of these thoughts, feelings, and emotions... as I am AMAB.

Just met with our HR Administrator for a final review of the announcement about my transition. I asked them to send it near the end of the workday on Thursday. I work from home on Fridays, so wanted there to at least be one workday for the word to spread before I'm back in the office on Monday. I really liked the message I originally wrote but between our HR person & the University's main HR Dept. a bunch of it was cut out as "too personal", even though to my eyes it was hardly that. Oh well. Picking my battles.

Generally they've been very supportive, just mostly unaware and unfamiliar with having an employee come out as trans.  They were certainly down with me asking one of the directors of the local Transgender Resource Center to present a Trans 101 in late August to my entire department (a little over 100 fellow employees). So, yay! I'm officially coming out at work by the end of the week!!!

2018 has been a huge year for me.

I came out at work and in the national UK media.
I came out in my professional network.
I completed laser hair removal and started electrolysis.
I got my first female haircut and started presenting female 24/7
I hired a stylist and developed my own style and built my first professional capsule wardrobe.
I legally changed my name, degree certificate and achieved my first official diagnosis of GD.
I completed facial feminisation surgery at Facial Team

Hopefully 2019 will be somewhat easier :)

Hi Kate,

I don't think this is either silly or minor. I absolutely understand. Piercing my ears is something that I have wanted to do for a very long time. I am planning to have them done at Christmas when I have time off from work. For me this is almost as big a step as starting HRT. I am not sure why. So I certainly understand the importance to you.

You go girl.

In August, I submitted all the required paperwork to my birth state in order to get the sex listed on my birth certificate corrected. Their receipt of it was confirmed when the payment check was cashed on 9/11/18. Yesterday, 11/10/18, I received newly corrected certified copies of my certificate listing my sex as FEMALE.  I cannot express how it felt seeing the Vital Records return address on the envelope when looking in the mailbox then opening & seeing the certs for the first time! My hubby & I have plans to celebrate by going out to dinner tonight. :-)

Also, Friday's coming out message was sent by HR to everyone at work under the subject line: "An Important Message". I've received several emails & DMs of support, including a very warm & kind email from one of the organization's director congratulating me, saying "Welcome to womanhood!", then going on to tell me that her 21 year old daughter started the process of transitioning from female to male a couple of months ago.

All in all, last week was a very good week transition-wise! :icon_mrhappy:

This year I began seeing a gender therapist.  I came to realize and accept that I'm a transgender woman.  No longer do I hate myself for wanting to wear women's clothing or for wanting to be female.  No longer do I condemn myself for these internal feelings I didn't choose to have.  I received my letter from my therapist to start HRT, but I'm waiting for my employer's health insurance to begin before I undergo hormones (I can't wait to get on E!).  I managed to come out to two people and even worked up the courage to go to therapy dressed.  There is still so much more transitioning ahead of me, and though I still struggle with dysphoria, I feel much better about myself as a trans person than ever before.

In practical terms, I have accomplished nothing at all this year, transition-wise.  Another year of HRT, another year of RLE.  Which is good.  No progress on my gender marker change.

I am hopeful for my second referral letter for surgery sometime before the end of the year.  I had an appointment with the shrink at the beginning of October: half an hour of "Have you ever had...?" type questions, for which I had to drive 3.5 hours each way, after waiting for a year!  Since then, I have rattled the poor secretary's cage every two weeks, asking when my letter will be forthcoming.  "Soon", she says.

I had an appointment with my HRT doctor in mid-October, telling her that I had seen the shrink and the letter was imminent.  So today, her office called wondering where the letter was.  A perfect excuse to call the shrink's secretary again.  "Soon" was the answer.  I did ask her to fax the letter directly to my HRT doctor, since there is a postal strike on right now, and to call me when she had done so.

So, I guess what I have accomplished this year is some cage-rattling.  ::)

Everything's been pushed back a bit, but it's still doable and timing doesn't mean much. Not having my name and gender marker changed is a bit disappointing now that I'm "passing", but I can't let setbacks discourage me. I know who and what I am and that's so empowering.

It was a tough year that got better.

I started with panic attacks and an immense sense of loneliness and then started therapy.  I was diagnosed with gender dysphoria at 62 years of age and entered complete denial.

I was totally shocked to finally realize that I really was transgender and increased my therapy.  I discovered Susan's Place and was surrounded with the best and most caring people in the world.  Suddenly I was not alone and that was huge.

I have just started HRT and my wife and I are still together.

I am looking forward to 2019!

Thanks all!

Came out to all the important people in my life.

I think you will have to update the words under your avatar picture. If you came out to the important people, you cannot claim to be shy any longer...

I am hopeful for my second referral letter for surgery sometime before the end of the year.

Update!  While I haven't gotten my copy yet, my doctor got hers, and has already sent it off to the insurance office for funding approval.  ;D

And I am closing in on finishing my facial electrolysis.  I will be switching to half-hour appointments in the new year.

Lets see...

-After hesitating for nearly a year, I came  out to my Dad.  He was not happy, but at least he doesn't think I have a "constant cold" anymore.

-Came out to everyone I know on Facebook.. No more hiding.  I'm sick of hiding.

-My beard is finally coming in!  Its sparse, but it's a definite beard!

-Gave my transgender boyfriend a ring.  Not sure if its a promise ring, especially since its a cheap piece of jewelry, but I wear mine every day, and he wears his at work and out.  The only time he takes it off is when he's around family, who don't know he's gay.

-Started researching for my top surgery.  I almost had a surgeon, but he turned out to be not a good match for what I need done.

-Started a local transmasculine support group that meets once a month.  I asked my local trans group to create one over a year ago, but I got tired of waiting.  So far, we have almost 30 people on the mailing list, and at least 12 show up for meetings.  We'll have our third meeting in January.

-Joined a local group dedicated to help LGBT+ youth under the age of 25.  We're making sure that proper and all-inclusive Sex Ed is taught in school, that condoms and PreP is available for teens, helping provide safe space for homeless LGBT+ youths and making sure that trans kids can get the hormone blockers or hormones they need.  We have a long way to go, but we have a good start on being able to do all of these things.

-I finally was given some nice suits from a MTF in my local support group.  YAY!  I need to have them tailored since she's taller than me, but that's easily taken care of!

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.  8)

Lot of things happened this year but most of them were not directly related to my transition but will help in that regard as well. I learned a lot of new things which helps my career, lost the weight I put on earlier this year, bought my own apartment so my landlord cannot just decide to kick me out if they decide they don't like me or my 'lifestyle'.

Transition-wise, I bought a bunch of clothes, shoes, makeup and accessories which is not an accomplishment in itself but I worked hard for that money.
I got better at makeup, painting my nails, dyeing my hair(the bathroom isn't a mess after it anymore :D), only a few hairs left on my face after the laser sessions this year and I have more understanding of my voice issues than last year.

This year might have been better than I thought.

That sounds very positive Lynne.   :)
I wish you a great 2019.

2018 was a transformative year for me, no pun intended.
Self acceptance as a woman was the most important achievement.

I will see what 2019 brings, I am not in a hurry.
I want my transition to go as well as I can make it go, I am in control of its speed.
A pleasant and natural female voice is my primary mtf skill development goal.

Share kindness and love... This means so much to so many people, including ourselves.

Thank you Chrissy, I wish you a great new year too!

A good voice can be a life changer in itself, it's always a good idea to work on that.

I started hrt in 2017... as for 2018, there's been nothing as substantial.  No surgeries or name/gender marker change yet  :-\ I feel like my face keeps changing in very small ways even after almost 15 months on hrt.
Oh I did go full time I think September 2018.  I don't know how I feel about it still because it's so new.  It just feels like I'm not trapped in a cage as much anymore. I'm sort of getting bored of all the clothes I've been wearing.  I don't have much money and I have to be very picky buying new clothes that compliment my trans woman body.  But overall I do just throw on a top and leggings and I feel mostly okay.

Allison, your year sounds like mine: steady as she goes, nothing to see here, folks.  I hope next year will bring you some more good things to report on.  Going full-time this year is major.

Have you tried shopping at second-hand stores?  Most of what I wear comes from second hand stores, at a fraction of what I would have paid new.  I only buy underwear and shoes new.

Hi Kathy, yes and that's good in a way because too much at once may overwhelm me honestly.  I don't mind waiting on hrt because the changes have been pretty nice...
By second-hand do you mean like Marshall's?  Or thrift shops?  I definitely need to check out both I've just been pretty lazy lately.  I need rain/snow boots and nice heels.

I am not sure what Marshall's is.

We have several shops that sell high-end second-hand clothes.  They get them from faculty women at the university, and female officers and officers' wives at the air force base, who will get something fancy for a party, but can don't want to be seen twice in the same outfit.  One of the stores specializes in importing antique clothes from England.  The prices are higher than thrift shop clothes, but a tiny fraction of what you would pay for "nice" clothes new.

This is just a piddly little town, so I am sure that you can find similar stores in most cities.

[Edit:]  I looked up Marshall's: we have it in Canada.  It looks like they sell leftover new stock from other retailers, at a discount.  The stores I am thinking of sell pre-owned clothes.

Allison,

There consignment shops, resell shops, some factory outlet stores (I usually do not find bargains there often), eBay, service organization donated good stores, stores that are indeed labeled as thrift stores, and the stores that buy closeout clothing lines, or end of season inventory leftovers, or liquidation sale lots - these all can be good sources to save on purchases.

Nordstom Rack is a chain that may have some values for you as well as the traditional clearance racks at many retailers.

One other place to check out are organizations that help people obtain employment.  In some larger communities they supply clothing at low cost or even free to women and men who wish to interview for jobs but cannot afford to buy business attire.  New York has a "Dress for Success" store where people can donate or obtain clothes for that purpose.

The biggie would be legal name change in March and all the documents updated with name and gender, except gender on birth certificate, WI wont do that without GCS.

What else?

Got in my year of full time.

Learned I can't take medroxyprogesterone. So far so good on 2 weeks of micronized progesterone though.

Haven't shaved upper lip in about 2 months.

Lost 30 pounds.

2018 was a busy year for so many of you.  I'll add to the list,  started therapy,  went to Esprit for the first time after going to Southern Comfort previous years.  Got honest with myself about which girls I tended to be more aligned with,  came home,  panicked about getting old and missing out on years of being myself,  started HRT in September.  Currently sitting at 5 months looking for any real physical signs of progress, trying to be patient,  and cursing my itchy areolas!

I legally became Bobbie LeAnn M**** sex female on October 2, 2018
Got my new birth certificate with correct new name AND sex (they sealed my old birth certificate).
As of today it has been 2 years, 3 months, 3 weeks, 1 day since I started this new life and I have never been happier.

P.S. I also updated my Drivers licence, Social Security card, Health and Auto Insurance, Bank account, and everything else with my new name and sex.
Now if I could only find a way to lose this tiny appendage that causes me so much dysphoria.

Love
Bobbie LeAnn
