Title: shrinkage.
Post by: flygirl82 on November 23, 2010, 03:47:22 PM
so I have been on esrogen and spiro for about a year and have been noticing that  I'm getting smaller down there... I'm a little concerned as I plan on having srs so more skin = better results and I wansnt well endowed to begin with (4inches or so) So my question is this normal ?? Is this caused from spiro or estrogen.  I have reduced my amount in spiro recently as my dr suggested.... I'm just worried it's going to get smaller.  Also if including progesterone does that effect it aswell?  Thanks  and happy holidays

I wasn't very small to begin with but extended hrt and lack of use made things shrink so that I now need a colon-vaginoplasty at forty-five thousand dollars.
start saving up.

I've noticed some shrinkage as well. But it's nothing too major. I do believe a lessened amount of testosterone in your system is responsible, so that would be do to spironolactone. Plus not using it would probably make it smaller.

6 years and still counting.
depending on which surgeon you chose you may have enough or not.
if surgery will be delayed you need to start exercising to maintain length and girth for maximum usable skin.
this is one of the things the old textbooks don't mention.

HRT for over 13 months and I have only had minor shrinkage. But I still have sex on a kinda regular basis. (3+ times a month)

They say if you don't use it you loose it, (hell even if you use it you still loose some of it.) If sex is out of the question get a penis pump and use it once or twice a week to avoid the atrophy.

20 years, 2 months. (d**n that was a long time).
Some shrinkage, but it seemd to level out at some point.
I did have the sigmoid surgery for $8600 USD in Thailand.

One should not worry about shrinkage.  All of your original skin is still there.  Just because it appears smaller, doesn't mean you won't get the same results as if shrinking had no occurred.

girl_ashley - the surgeon who has been doing sex changes for over 20 years thinks differently.

Over time you will lose bulk and apparently shrink a lot.
In fact, the skin will actually shrink if there is never any tension on it.

Many have reported pain from tumescence as the skin shrinks.

Its well documented that if you do female HRT for years, and years and years....with and no genital surgery....

Atrophy is the physical result, how much though is down to individual genetics....

Personally, if you're going for it.... then the rule of thumb would be for prudence's sake...

Don't hang about..... (scuss the pun!)  :P

Use it or lose it. It's difficult for me to 'use' it, but I try and achieve an erection at least 2-3 times a week to make sure nothing is going to atrophy.  I'll probably be past 30 months of HRT before I can undergo SRS, so it makes sense to me that I need to keep whatever material I have in good condition. Too bad the 'maintenance' causes intense dysphoria. Either way, the ends justify the means to me.

So far at almost 11 months of HRT, I am under the impression that I may have had just a bit of shrinkage, but nothing very noticeable.

Every article I have read from doctors who perform SRS say that the skin you have before HRT will be the skin you have at the time of SRS. The testicles will shrink noticably but from what the doctors have said the penis does not. They have even reported that if a mtf stops hrt with proper stimulation should be able to have an erection the same size as before hrt. The saying use it or loss it refers to losing the ablility to have an erection which only affects a small number of men. I have been on hrt for more than a year I no longer can have erections and testes are less than half the size as before hrt but there has not been any shrinkage.

I was born with a micro-penis (2 inches hard) and after 8 years of HRT I have what I would call and over-sized clitoris. Should I ever decide on SRS it will have to be the sigmoid surgery.

So to answer your question yes thank goodness shrinkage occurs :)
