Title: A day in a life of Cynthia Ann
Post by: CynthiaAnn on April 23, 2019, 11:02:15 AM
Hello Susan's place MTF forum....

Have not started many topics since joining in late 2010 here at Susan's place, usually have answered other's topics and enjoy adding something to the conversations when possible. This topic I am creating will be only my 6th since joining, and it will be my personal diary of a mostly post transition life. I say mostly, because even though I've taken many steps physically and socially to transition to female, there are areas of female life where I feel I am still exploring and learning in, they fascinate me and I am one to believe in "life long learning". When I joined these forums I quickly realized that many here have created their own personal topics, and I've been starting to read and post in some of them, some are many years in the running, how fun and useful ! I've answered most of the polls here already, I've answered in many of the transition related topics that I can relate to, so here it goes my personal topic,

  My wife is working now and so am I as I type this, we mostly work today because we are helping our 20 somethings have a better life. Our oldest daughter is a FAA licensed commercial pilot, working on increasing her marketability in the aviation field. I personally have everything in life I could ever want, a happy marriage and a family that loves me, stable employment, home ownership, and my health and well being is the best ever. Thankfully I've solved many of the dysphoria related issues I suffered with over the past decade. I look forward to moving on from my day job sometime soon, and hopefully traveling more (we are cruising the inside passage this summer), playing more music, and enjoying many of the crafts and sewing I like to do.

  So today real life includes 5 miles of exercise soon, it's a cool showery morning here in the Puget Sound region. Getting our RV ready today for a Puget sound island trip and beautiful waterfront location to ride my bicycle, hike in the coastal forests there and be with family, here is what it looked like there last year.

Real life awaits this topic.....

Thanks for reading

@CynthiaAnn
Dear CynthiaAnn:
Thank you for starting  your new personal diary of your "mostly post transition life" ...  as you already know, I am in the same kind of life stage that you are regarding having the big life changing transition events behind me and now like you are, I am just living day by day doing everyday normal things that people do without continual and total focus on our past initial transition journey life changing endeavors.

Still, I am continuing to learn about living my new life but I am very fortunate to have the acceptance of many acquaintances,  good friends, and some romantic encounters too,  that helps me to start each day with a positive attitude, always trying to make the next day better than the last.

I am very happy to read how you are "helping" your 20 something kids and encouraging them... and reading about your happy marriage and family makes me smile and be glad for you.

Oh yeah, enjoy doing some traveling... you will certainly enjoy the "inside passage" cruise this summer...  think of me when you get close to Alaska.
I love the picture that you posted of your spring season beautiful green grass and water and mountain view of the Cascades and Olympics... and either the Straits of Juan de Fuca or of Puget Sound....
***I think that I may be guessing correctly about all of that.???

The weather you are having there is making me envious for sure.  As I reported in my thread, I woke up this morning to a foot of new snow and it will be snowing all day and into tomorrow...  temps in the mid to high 20's (F) at night and today staying the low 30's (F)

For me, as it probably was for you, it has be quite an exciting ride, this transition journey, and looking back it was well worth the trials, tribulations, disappointments, failures and all of those things that threatened to sidetrack our journeys.

Thank you for starting your new "everyday life" thread, I will be eagerly following it as you feel so led to post your updates.
Hugs and best wishes as always,  [emoji172]
Danielle

@Alaskan Danielle thank you for such a wonderful and thoughtful reply to my diary post, you are correct the image above was taken from Marrowstone Island bluff looking north toward you, and that's point Wilson in the left foreground and the straight of Juan de Fuca. It's beautiful to have spring again here and all of the bulbs and flowering trees are in bloom. I will be thinking of you as we head up that coast this summer and I look forward to updating this thread. There are many twists and turns life can take, I plan on writing about some of them as we move into the future....

Our oldest daughter just came home excited this afternoon, as she met her new "Multi Engine" flight instructor today and has the next lessons scheduled now, she needs about 15 hours of training to complete this endorsement. Her S.E.S (special endorsement sea) training begins in Sept now at Kenmore air.

For the sake of this thread here she is having fun posing on a T 6 (texan) at Paine field a few years back before she flew this plane with the museum pilot.

Update 7 am PDT, it's cool this morning at 39f, sunny and bright here. Look forward to exercise out after my meeting with Cisco today and planning their big technical conference later this spring. Clothes shopping has been fruitful this spring, several new tops and skirts, and I have a wonderful new dress and sandals for a trip to CA this year. Out on exercise yesterday and this 30 something woman waves at me from her car, I seem to notice this a lot from women in our neighborhood, they are just being friendly and it's great to be on the receiving end of some of that...I learned a new song this past week, and it's always fun to go through the motions, I love ELP songs....Oldest daughter showed me her new Ruby ring from her boyfriend in Edmonton from her last trip there, we are getting closer I believe to being empty nesters it seems. Dual citizenship is in her future. I really like this guy she met, and he is perfectly at ease with me....Thoughts of what I'd wear at their wedding.....

Have a great day....

@CynthiaAnn
Dear CynthiaAnn:
The springtime is always my favorite season of the year... new life, new blossoms, and a nice change of pace from the long darkness and cold of winter... although I do love the winter season, in spite of the weather and darkness it has it's own type of beauty and up here we do lots of things indoors when it gets really nasty outside, plus it gives me lots of time to read a good book in front of my fireplace in the evenings.

Ahhh.... springtime is a wonderful time for changing over your wardrobe to new colorful and light summer clothes... even showing a little more skin if you dare.  Lots of fun.  Lots of fun dresses, tops, shorts and skorts... and capris.... and shoes.... etc.

This year, my gym-gals group and I did not get to do our big overnight annual shopping trip to the big city (Anchorage) as we did last year in early Spring.  That was when I shared a hotel room with my Tooth Fairy Dental Hygienist Suitor #4 ....   I was so very nervous but that has all worked out very nicely as I have been reporting in my thread.
Hopefully we will get that trip arranged before summer starts.

Oh yeah, as you mentioned it is so affirming and such a good feeling to get the friendly waves and looks from other women... and men too.   As a married woman I am sure that you are more careful with how you respond to men flirting with you...  I assure you that it is a wonderful feeling and as you know from my threads, I have dated several men and gotten into some romantic endeavors with a few nice guys in the recent past.  (i.e. past Suitor#1 and also ShyGuy Suitor #3)

Thank you for your posting, and for sharing....
HUGS,  [emoji171]
Danielle

That's so awesome your "Tooth Fairy" friend, I am so happy for you Danielle ! Anchorage is the "Big City" for your neck of the woods. Been there several times over the years, had a friend that lived in Chugiack. I remember being stuck in Anchorage back in '89 when Mt Redoubt blew her top and they closed the airport there for several days. That was an interesting trip.

Yes reading by the fire, I enjoy that as well. I am sure you are quite ready for Spring / Summer there, you are gaining precious minutes of day light each day

Yes attention from guys is a whole topic in it's self, and an adjustment as a married woman...

Hugs and have a wonderful day Danielle !!

5/2 evening update with coffee, the trip to Marrowstone island was fantastic and it's good to be back, I'll simply say what great family time, we caught fantastic weather, and all the equipment worked, except for the having to clean and repair the connection to the trailer. Just doing our laundry now.

Here is #2 daughter and me visiting the lighthouse...

  Good morning, just sipping my coffee and getting caught up on many threads here. All the laundry is done and everything pretty much put away. Reflecting on going out with daughter and my soul mate shopping in Port Townsend this week, and how it's taken years since transition for all of us to be comfortable doing routine things out in public together. I can recall many awkward moments in the past, and now it's just 3 ladies out shopping and dining. I found a nice skort in the consignment shop there, only 4 dollars, and such bright colors, I did not need it, but it was too good to pass up, this girl loves a bargain. Really thinking about opening a 401 k roll over account, my investments are doing very well with stock market at or near record highs, and it's making this girl really nervous. When do I cash my chips in, I've earned in the big casino ? I am practicing being retired today and it feels great, no deadlines, no emails, just gonna get 5 miles of exercise in, it's core training day. I like planks and hula hoop among other things. Tonight it's dinner with friends, I have a new dress and cardigan to wear over at their place. Life is really good when gender fades into the background, thanks for reading and have a great day !

Dear Cynthia"
Great photos.
Looks like that the weatherman cooperated and that you had a wonderful day-trip with your daughter...
I was happy to read that you repaired the trailer issues...
...one thing about RVs, there is often something to fix every time you use it.

Here the weather turned to winter again...  the temperatures are hovering around 30 deg F and it started snowing sometime overnight...  it is 6:30 am here and there already is over an inch of snow on the ground.

I hope that this is the last blast of winter.

Thank you for sharing your day and your pictures on your thread.
HUGS,
Danielle

Saturday morning update - Dinner last night with friends was great, she made jambalaya, so spicy, lovely. We are all pretty much on the same page politically, so we all can vent, it's the one group of friends I hang with where I can actually talk about that stuff, and we mostly come to similar conclusions. I purposely avoid religion and politics, and divisiveness topics here for good reason, it's simply not worth any emotional investment typing that stuff. My good friend said she purposely removed herself from social media because of the divisiveness recently. I never joined social media myself, so I keep going to her "told you so". It felt nice to be complimented on my new dress and sandals  :)

Today the sun is out, it's beautiful here, gonna take care of my yard / property. I was fun to catch up on some of the threads here with coffee. Put the SPF 55 on today !

Have a great day !

Hi Cynthia Ann, I ran across your thread here and had to tell you it's nice to get an periodic update on what you've been up to.

QuoteI purposely avoid religion and politics, and divisiveness topics here for good reason, it's simply not worth any emotional investment typing that stuff. My good friend said she purposely removed herself from social media because of the divisiveness recently.

I used to enjoy a good chat about politics and religion but 'something' changed a few years ago and things can become too explosive too quickly to delve into such hostile territory.  Like your good friend, I'm not on any mainstream social network or platform.

Well, that's all.  Just thought I'd say, Hi! :)

Hi Susan, glad to have you stop by here  :), yes I just started this online diary a little while back for those that want to keep up with my "real life" and small happenings. Chime in anytime ! I read your update on coming out to daughters.

Yes, the climate has gotten so toxic, that it's just not worth it. Yeah, social media has essentially created this "alternate consciousnesses", that seems manipulative, so yeah I avoid it, here at Susan's place is essentially the closest thing to "social media" I participate in, but I don't engage in certain topics.

Hope life is treating you well Susan

Hi Cynthia I like the idea of a post transition woman just talking about her life here.  I tend to focus my posts and replies toward those struggling with the prospect of transition or those early on in that journey.

What I think is great about your thread is it is the story of someone living their life as just a normal life.  Which really is the goal of all of this.  It's nice for those that are following us on this path to see that the turmoil can come to a conclusion.

As for the social media references that you and Susan mentioned it is a very toxic environment, sadly.  I keep very abreast of current events and politics but I tend not to engage with those that disagree with me.  I don't need the aggravation and most of us are so deeply rooted in our beliefs few of us change our minds anyway.

I had an interesting discussion in another thread with Ann W.  I strongly disagreed with most of her points but we had a lively and interesting discussion and thanked each other in PM for keeping it civil.  Sadly that is the exception and not the norm these days.

Lastly I enjoyed reading that you are still learning.  I fear sometimes I come across in my comments as thinking I have this all figured out.  Far from it.  I am very confident in my insight into transitioning and living authentically however I still am struggling with my body dysphoria and sexuality.  So while I MAY have an area of expertise I am still learning as well.

Thanks for a change of pace topic.

Hi girls, Greetings from the Southern Shores of the beautiful Salish Sea.. In the shadows of Mt. Tahoma.... I've been following this a couple weeks now, and thought I'd finally toss in my ten cents worth.. (due to inflation, a penny for ones thoughts is now up to a Nickle, and your two cents worth? is now up to ten cents)... Anyway, a couple of random comments...
1) Kim, Like you I also keep very abreast of current events... but I learned many years ago, that as an Amateur (ham) Radio Operator?? (The original form of international social media) to never discuss religion or politics... That it is always best to be an ambassador of good will. Every one stays much happier that way.... especially since the whole world can listen to you conversation... giggle..
2) Susan, since I am unable to look at profiles, or use the search function on this site (I guess admin has to "approve me" or something).... and my wife and I are planning a trip back East to see our newest grand baby later this summer.... It's time to finally have the discussion with Daughter #2 about my transition... and thought your article on the subject might be a great read, along with any other info on the subject..... Since discussing anything with daughter #1 went down in flames a few years back.....
3)and of course Cynthia Ann... it's always a pleasure to meet another "girl" living on the Shores of the Salish Sea...
loves and kisses
Brigitte

Cynthia Ann.... I was talking to my wife, and we were kind of wondering who your daughter is flying for??? We're both ex airline folks here... Although we both hold A&P licenses.. My wife also holds her Flight Engineer license with both a Recip., and heavy jet ratings, as well as her her Advanced Ground Instructor rating... Before retiring (due to medical issues), we worked for United I as a mechanic/radio/avionics, and her as a mechanic/avionics tech., then as a Flight Engineer on B747, B727, B707, DC10's and others, then (as her MS got worse) as a ground instructor. Before finally coming home and spending a few years before retiring as a maintenance training instructor for Alaska Airlines.... She worked about 15 years longer than I did... as I effectively retired back when I was 39.... because not only was I born XXY? and all the stuff that came with that?? (as I found out much later, due to a tremor, and several falls that started back when I was 16yrs old, the final blow being a nasty fall at work, that entailed falling off the top of a B777, all the way down to the hanger floor, and no, I didn't bounce.. giggle),That I also was blessed with a little gift that runs in the female line of my moms family.. Here's the crazy part, I was Dx'd when I was 50, with Juvenile Onset Parkinson's Disease... (Yup, the 6th person(girl) over 4 generations on my mom's side of the family DX'd with PD, all women), and because Juvenile onset is the only type that's genetic, affecting the 1% of the 1% of those with Parkinson's?? my Neurologist had my DNA sequenced, as well as the chromosome work-up to see where the genetic defect was, on which specific gene?....We also found that out that gee, I was also XXY... giving me the final piece to not just my Parkinson's issues, but also to all my gender issues, and dysphoria over the years as well... Talk about a serious weight off my shoulders..... WHEW

Hi Kim, I've enjoyed reading your posts and answering when I feel I can add something. You write some great responses to others I might add ! I recall the Ann W "smacks the hornets nest" post was one example of a civil disagreement here on our moderated board. I am glad it did not devolve into flames, although she had to close out the topic, it seems the angry hornets were buzzing around  :). Keeping a positive attitude about things here online, brings much enjoyment, I can tell you enjoy yourself here Kim, you project great vibes into our forum, I like to try and emulate that as well  :)

Real life gives us experiences and chances to grow. I for one enjoy new learning and experiences, I am glad you chimed into my topic Kim  8) It's been great walking along side you sister on this road of life it is.

Hi Brigette, and thanks for introducing yourself here in my "real life" topic also in the shadow of Big Tahoma here, where it's a beautiful morning as I type this, sipping coffee, it's currently 49f with bright sunshine here, going to be a great day here, thinking about getting out on my bicycle a bit later  :)

Our daughter is currently up this morning in a twin engine getting her 2nd multi engine lesson. She is still in training, and earning her wings, we hope soon that she can find some work in the field at some point. She now has her BS aviation science, and ~ 500 hours total, with several endorsements. She hopes to complete "multi engine" FAA endorsement next, then SES this fall. We are very proud of her.

That's terrible to read of your falls and your medical situation. Glad you are getting the dysphoria pieces worked out, it can be very debilitating. Best wishes with coming out to your # 2 daughter, I hope it goes better this time.

I came out to both our daughters when they were teen aged (13, 16) back then, thankfully all is well with our relationships today, way better in many ways !

I hope you have a wonderful day Brigette  :)

Hi Cynthia, I just found this thread - Oooh!  Noice scenery from your property!

I miss the water! :(  For most of my life I lived less than a mile from Lake Michigan.  When I was upset I used to walk along the shoreline to think about things, look out over The Lake (due to its size, it's more of a small inland sea - you cannot see the shore on the opposite side), and listen to the soothing sound of the waves.  Unfortunately, I live 10 miles west of the Lake Michigan shore, so it's a bit more of a hassle to go for a walk along The Lake.

Hi Ellen, very nice on growing up near lake Michigan. That bluff picture is from Marrowstone Island and belongs to the State of WA. Can you picture a phased vertical array like a 4 square diamond on that bluff for 160 ?, with just this super low angle take off, and salt water Fresnel in the near field ! I dream about locations such as this for that purpose, to be electro - magnetically quiet for listening, no urban RF pollution, just imagine the possibilities !

I know you are into guitars Ellen, so I'll invite you to have a look at the "show us your Axe ?" topic here at Susan's

You can see a few of my Basses there

Have a wonderful day !

Ooh!! You're giving me Amateur Radio pain!!!!  The ultimate ground plane salt water!!!  BTW, where I grew up and lived on the Lake Michigan shoreline, had 150 foot tall bluffs.  I used to climb them during my rock climbing days, to the worry and chagrin of my parents.

Hmm, I'll check out the guitar thread, thanks for letting me know.

Tuesday morning update - 5/7 beautiful sunny day here, heading into the 70's and perhaps even 80's later this week. My 5 miles was good this morning, ran into a rather large construction crew redoing a whole section of sidewalk and I was not trying to look their way as I passed, however I could feel their eyes, you know when the gaze is on...

This morning was new E patch day, and I think I was running a little low before putting it on, heard some music and just so easily into tears, good tears, but still that usually tells me I need more E.

Just doing my computer work here, updating the corporate firewalls, such is life on the Internet....

Have a wonderful day !

@CynthiaAnn
Dear Cynthia:
YES, as you can, I can feel eyes gazing at me.   Since I am full-time it is not a bad feeling... it is a nice feeling to know that I am able to pass without question... . but when I was in the initial phases of transitioning and not always feeling confident about my passing ability, I could feel people staring at me and perhaps making comments about me to themselves....  I am glad that those days are past.

Well, your temperatures are running 25 to 35  degrees (F)  warmer than mine... just last weekend the latest snow finally melted off of my yard.   I am running out of reasons why I can't do my spring cleanup yard work.

It was below freezing temperatures early this morning and I bundled up and walked to work.   Later today it is supposed to get above 40 deg, perhaps well into the 50's  (F)

I am glad that you got a new E patch today... your mood will hopefully pick up now.

Enjoy your day.
Thank you for sharing,
HUGS,
Danielle

@Alaskan Danielle - I agree with this above, it does feel good to be noticed (in the right ways). There was nothing off about the encounter yesterday, I suppose just another woman out for exercise...

Wednesday update - 58 f partly cloudy (mid level clouds), beautiful morning out and it was 5 miles of assimilation smiles. It starts with my next door neighbor she waves at me, and we exchange good mornings, next a random encounter with a 30 something girl coming out to her car in the driveway as I am passing by on the sidewalk, she starts just the most pleasant conversation and small talk with me, it was so relaxed, I felt so comfortable chatting with her, next it was the cemetery lady that works in the front office ( a regular ), she waves at me and we exchange smiles, and finally it was with some young deer next to the woods about 20 feet away I ran into, they felt completely at ease with me in close proximity, and did not distance themselves at all. Just another woman out for exercise in the morning, I do feel good about myself "down there"  :)

Have a wonderful day

Another great report and a terrific picture of how you appear to those walking behind you!!!
You are doing well developing those curves and and showing them off in your leggings and form-fitting top.

Keep your updates coming!

Hi, Cynthia Ann.  I was just getting caught up on your thread.  Thanks for letting us peek into your regular life.

Now I feel homesick for the Salish Sea!  I used to live on Denman Island, off the inner coast of Vancouver Island.  I loved that area.  Denman Island was populated mostly by hippies, not just the neo- variety, but still a lot of the old, original hippies.  With exorbitant ferry fares, everyone learned to be self-sufficient.

My wife and I have talked about going back for a vacation.  It would be fun to drop in on some of our old neighbours, and let them meet Kathy for the first time.  And there is a cruise we'd love to do again on the outer coast of Vancouver Island.

The big stumbling block is dogsitting.  Unless we can find a place where the hound would be happy for a couple of weeks, any trip is out of the question.

@KathyLauren - good morning Kathy and nice to have you chime in to my diary thread. I am intrigued by Denman island, I had no idea. Port Townsend, WA where we were last week, also has a reputation of being an "old hippie" town, and there is evidence of that all around. I hope your well water situation is now settled and all is good, I did see your last comments in your thread, so here is a "wooo hooo" for you and getting things restored (no fun). Pet sitting is a thing, and really is a need. Our youngest daughter when she lived at home had a pet sitting business in our neighborhood (neighborhood facebook page) and was very successful at it. She would make good $$ during the summer vacation months. I hope you are able to visit out west again, the entire area is simply beautiful.

Have a wonderful day Kathy !

Hugs

Friday morning update - already 70 f out heading into the lower 80's, the air was still and big Tahoma was out in a little haze, the Rhodies are in full bloom now. It was a quiet morning, the energy is always seems a bit more subdued on Friday's mornings, everyone is some place else, and only ran into one "regular" the nice lady that collects cans for the women's shelter (we always save our cans for her), the rest were guys, I've noted in the past some day's encounters are more female, today it was lopsided male, I smiled a lot, they hardly noticed me. The construction crew was out today again and the traffic control lady was bossy telling me to go around a certain way, she says "honey you have to go over this way"...

Mother's day weekend is special for us, our #2 daughter and her boyfriend have 2 new kittens in their townhouse, so we plan to go and cuddle them, and hang out at their place.

Our 34th anniversary also this week, we have been together now going on 37 years, love her so much, that gets bundled into Mother's day as well....

Have a wonderful Mother's day weekend all !

Mothers day update 2019 - My thoughts are with her this morning, she was so young (teenager) when I was born. She knew of my true self, reluctant to acknowledge my femininity, yet indulging me at the same time, she knew. She made me a doll (hand sewn) when I was 4, I loved it, she made me a nurses dress outfit for Halloween when I was 8, she knew even if it was unthinkable then. We were so poor growing up, by the time I was 7, she was tasked with raising 4 kids alone as my Dad up and left us. She then bettered herself after my parents separated, she earned her teaching degree. There were many times were left alone with no baby sitting (she could not afford it), when she was off at college. I learned to take care of myself and my sisters being the oldest. I became quite self reliant because of my upbringing and life's circumstances. I came out to her 3 times in life once at 8, then at 22, and finally at age 51 the last time being the most significant. She left us in 2014, after battling complications from diabetes and other things. So this is my small tribute to you Mom, I hope you are smiling now and can see "all of me".

I love you Mom always.

Dear Cynthia:
Thank you for sharing your lovely tribute and posting honoring your mother...
...and the picture that you posted was truly wonderful for all of us to see.

It was great to read that you were able to come out to your mother several times and the last time when you were 51 years old.   I hope that you found acceptance from her ...   that is something that we all desire, acceptance from our parents.

I trust that your day will be filled with pleasant memories.
Hugs and best wishes,
Danielle

Monday morning update - 48f some overcast going to stay dry here, although rain moves in later in the week. Had a great Mom's day over at our daughters place yesterday. Their new kittens are so playful and fun to be with, they cuddled right up to me. We rode the WA state ferry back to the mainland, I wore a knee length skirt yesterday and was reminded when I stepped out on the deck that the wind can quite quickly lift my skirt ! I had to hold my skirt down a bit being out on the front deck  ;) Today it's back at work and exercise later, here is a picture of the Seattle Skyline as we approached Coleman docks with the "Norwegian Bliss" cruise ship docked there, this ship is massive, and infusing the city with tourists. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day !

Dear Cynthia:
Thank you for sharing your update this morning.
Here it is not quite 6:00AM and it is 36 deg F outside and today is supposed to get into the 50's and even high 50's.

Wow, a great picture that you posted of the Seattle Skyline, I always enjoyed seeing the ferries and the large ships in the harbor against the background of the city buildings and (of course) the famous Space Needle.

Yep, it can be a problem staying modest... keep your skirt under control in the wind.  :o :o ;) ;)

I am so glad that you had a good weekend and visit with your daughters.

Thanks again for your good report this morning.
Hugs and best wishes,

Mid week update, Wednesday morning - started off with coffee and catching up on threads from here, and was quite the surprise to see an old topic I started from over 8 years ago answered here at Susan's  :) :) It was blast from the past, so I've answered the blast from the past with a picture, and have reached many like minds here on these forums, really amazing. I really appreciated the nice post I read this morning from her. My 5 miles out was nice, ran into several folksees, the old guy with his little dog says good morning with a nice smile, a nice 30 something Asian girl waves as she jogs by on the other side of the street, I smile and return the waves (she was buff), the retired school administrator that lives down the street says good morning. Did my planks and stretching. The Rhodies and other flowering plants and trees are simply beautiful today. 60 f now as I type this and partly cloudy, expecting rain. Here is picture of me some 42 years ago, lifting the front tire in the desert of So Cal, never forget where I came from, I still enjoy a ride today...

Woke up with Vertigo this morning, the room keeps spinning, hang on, focus eyes ahead. Maybe going out for exercise later will help, I can't stand this nausea.

Dear Cythia and Judi:
I am not 40 years old yet but lately I am not doing as many things that I once did that are possibly dangerous and life threatening... on my hiking up in the mountains I am more careful about the path that I take and the high ledges that I stand on... etc.

I find that I am doing more things like cruises, road trips, visits to museums, etc.   Life and good health is too precious.

This all reminds me of a poem, song lyrics, and a scripture fount in the Bible....

             Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

     To every thing there is a season,
     and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
     A time to be born, a time to die;
     a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
     A time to kill, and a time to heal;
     a time to break down, and a time to build up;
     A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
     a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
     A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
     a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
     A time to get, and a time to lose;
     a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
     A time to rend, and a time to sew;
     a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
     A time to love, and a time to hate;
     A time of war, and a time of peace.

Thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Danielle

Thank you sharing this Danielle, I appreciate these thoughts, and would add that after transition, I have most certainly acquired a new appreciation for the life we are given, and how much each single day is worth to us. Before it was so dysfunctional, so wrong, so boxed in, so depressing, yet today I can enjoy life anew and yes being in the correct gender is quite meaningful and removes so much tension. We are given this life and it's incumbent upon us to make the most of this time, including fixing what's wrong and moving on. To intersect others and feel the meaning of relationships today is so powerful. In that previous life, it seemed more focused on things, objects, yet today, I am definitely more focused on relationships, and not so much things anymore. I hope I can use what time I have left to make a difference for others, I hope to be remembered for the good.....

Have a wonderful day dear friend...

Cynthia I agree that transitioning presents us with a new appreciation of life.  For me (being of a certain age) getting older also can do this too if we let it.  I believe we must make the most of life.  I also now focus on relationships and experiences rather than things, leaving each place and person better than when I met them.  I am slowly letting go the things I have accumulated throughout life.  It's getting easier day by day.

Thank you Danielle for a great post!

Good for you @JudiBlueEyes ! and I agree with above and have been moving in that direction myself.

Friday morning update 58f and showers, just back from 5 miles out, several friendly waves from folks out today, just felt the good relaxed vibes out there on a Friday morning. The nice lady that collects cans for the woman's shelter was out and had a nice chat, one my other neighbor's wife broke her leg, so I was sympathetic ear for him. A guy I did not recognize waved at me from his car, just friendly folks. The vertigo I had yesterday morning has abated, thankfully, but still have some pressure in my left ear. E patch morning, feeling pretty good now !

Regarding my friend Judi's comments above, removing all the camping gear from our RV trailer and storing it this weekend, preparing to sell it, we have a buyer, just one less thing to insure and pay tabs on. Gotta go to bank vault and get title. We've had many family trips when the girls were younger, but time to part ways with this unit after 14 years...Maybe get a smaller lighter one later ?

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day

Cynthia I am glad to hear your vertigo has left. I've had it once or twice and its can be horrible.  After 14 years selling your RV will bring back a flood of memories.  Cherish them!  Time to move on to a new phase of life.  Maybe prepare for when grandkids eventually join you camping!

Love the old motorbike photo, Cynthia, and the one of your mother. She was a beautiful woman!

I'm also originally from So Cal, but have been just a little south of Canada for a long while.  I've been bicycling a lot myself since its gotten warmer up here (50F+, I'll go, 49F or colder, I'd rather walk :)

motorbikes .. scary. I rode one just once in my life, passenger. I leave all that adventurous stuff to my wife, she's better suited for it. As with you it is for her, once a biker/rider always a biker/rider.

Cool ! My soul mate rides too.
Do have a rockin' day !

These pre-date her own bike, it's the only photos I ever got her to pose for.

Judi

Thanks @JudiBlueEyes !, grandkids, ya never know, not happening just yet...

Did all my chores today and running around, been away from here except for a quick word game post or two. Such fun, those word combos are hilarious sometimes !

Hugs, and have a wonderful rest of the weekend....

I look forward to reading your thread, I am catching up!

@ChrissyRyan - Thanks for joining me and others over in my "diary topic"  :) :)

I am recalling your two word game topic a few weeks, this combo came up that still has me giggling a few weeks later. Danielle goes "Clock Lock", I reply with "Time Chime"  ;D ;D and then you replied afterwards about a mouse running down the clock, Sheer madness that topic, thanks for the smiles !

@Maddie - Thanks for nice comments about my Mom and my picture of "real life" back in dusty So Cal. Back then the air quality was not the best in the LA city basin (60,70's), so we would escape out to the desert to go riding. LA air quality has vastly improved now days compared to then....

Your new avatar pix is adorable Maddie  :) Very nice on the bicycling, I enjoy as well, and glad it's warming up your way. Mild day here, in the 60's, finished my chores and visited a friend for a few hours at their place. I saw your update posted over in your topic and answered, good luck with HRT, your boobs should be fine !

Sunday morning update - It's raining here and 54f, glad I did the yard work yesterday, this time of year the plants will get ahead of you. The neighbors kids had a sleep over last night, lot's of happy kids to be heard well into the night, did not bother me. The trip to the bank vault yesterday, was nice, always appreciate being referred to as "Ms" XXXXX when going there. I spent yesterday afternoon over at girlfriend's house, chatting, sipping coffee, and getting caught up with each other's lives. Today it's store runs with my dearest and just being at home mostly. It was good to read other's threads this morning and answer in a few. I enjoy getting caught up on the forums with coffee in the morning. The word game here at Susan's that I post in is good fun and quite enjoyable, I enjoy bouncing words off friends here... :)

See you "out there"

Dear Cynthia:SET
Not even 6:00AM here yet... beautiful SUNRISE early this morning at a little after 4:00AM  and tonight the
SUN will SET around 11:30PM   .....   no rain today.... very cold  this morning, getting foggy now but will be partly sunny later today with temps creeping upward into the 50's and 60's.

Usually when the daylight hours are very long this time of year, it can get quite warm in the early evenings.

***Yes indeed, lots of fun playing the word games with you as I sip on my morning coffee... but soon I will have to get ready and dressed for church.

Thank you for sharing.....

Tuesday morning update - 58 f partly sunny, very nice and mild out for 5 miles of exercise, very quiet out people wise. It's E patch Tuesday, and last night's lavender salt bath was lovely, and part of my post op care I indulge in....

  My thoughts are with daughter # 1 today up in Canada visiting with her boyfriend. She goes up there a lot now, they are getting serious and it won't be long she will be moving there to live with him we expect. She is quite proud of her ruby ring and is working on her dual citizenship. Our kitty misses her when she goes away, she is our kitty's favorite human, and I only qualify as 2nd best, but when she is away kitty is so friendly, and wants the human attention, I am all too happy to give it to her.

  I have enjoyed the forums and catching up with and reading other's threads and topics. I've answered in several and found a few "classic topics" to bump in the TS forums during the busy work day. Work is full of endless upgrade projects to attend to right now....

Song of the week is Jethro Tull's "back to family" a little ditty I've enjoyed getting the bass parts for...Musing about finding a new band after our summer cruise, the timing might be right then.....

I'm like pretty sentimental about certain things, so when I travel I like to take a travel friend or two with me...One of the girl's "beany babys" it's so 90's, awwww

Dear Cynthia:
Thank you for posting your "happy" update.   Your current temperature this morning is only a few degrees warmer than it is here....  today I expect it may get into the mid to high 60's... summer is just around the corner.
My lawn is waking up and needs mowing soon, my flowers around my home are all starting to bloom and starting to look beautiful.

Well now, it sounds like you might be attending a wedding in Canada soon for your #1 daughter.  It will be a grand day for you and for her.

Yes indeed, I too enjoy the forums and when I log in in the morning I make a point to visit the ongoing threads of those that I regularly follow, plus I am always looking to greet new members and to offer encouragement and support to other members that I come across on the various threads.

As you have been doing, I am enjoying the give and take with you and with others on the word game threads created by @ChrissyRyan ... lots of fun for sure, plus it is a good way to keep my mind sharp while I am drinking my morning coffee.

Well now, I do need to get back to my work on my desk...  I need to be careful that I don't get too addicted to the forums...  I do have a job to do and I do need and do enjoy the income that I derive from my little business.   It's a good thing that I don't have a boss looking over my shoulder during the day, I would certainly be reprimanded and/or fired for spending personal time on the Forums instead of tending to business.

Thank you again for your "happy" Tuesday UPDATE.
Hugs, and best wishes,
Danielle

@Alaskan Danielle - Yes good morning to you, your combo yesterday in the 2 word "Colonel kernel" was classic ! I was just giggling endlessly, there were some really funny combos in there yesterday, it's great to see others jump in and mix it up. Now the occupation topic that got bumped from long ago has taken on a life of it's own  :) that makes me smile to see others realize value and interest from a long dormant topic. Nice on the flowers at your place. You are ahead of us now in the hours of sunlight realized, I have to mow our grass now weekly or fall behind.

Partly sunny here as I type this and 55 f.

I hugged our # 1 daughter when she got home yesterday from Edmonton.

Have a wonderful and enjoyable day your way Danielle,

Dear Cynthia:
Yes indeed, as you have been doing, I have much enjoyed the give and take on those word games... and as you stated, some of the responses are quite classic and humorous also.

As you hinted at,  this time of year mowing the lawn is like  painting the Golden Gate bridge, once the painting is completed at one end it is then time to start at the other end again.   You can just about watch it grow ... then sometime in June it will slow down thankfully.

I was happy to see that you recently resurrected the "Occupation" thread... it has become quite eye opening and satisfying to find out about the wide variety and scope of the training and skills that our forums members have.
Thank you very much for bringing it back to life.

Well..... time for me to get out of my office and to the next door coffee shop.   It is going to be a warm day today, no rain as previously forecast.... might get near 70 degrees maybe???   These longer days of daylight and bright sunlight can make the late afternoons and evenings quite pleasant.
HUGS,
Danielle

Thursday morning update - 61f with some overcast heading into the upper 70's later today. Back at work now, my 5 miles out had friendly encounters (all guys), the vibe was pretty relaxed today...Reflective mood going on as I type this, my intuition is telling me to be cautious, watching for signs or indicators, feelings of others in my head, it's all metaphysical noise I seem to be picking up on, and it's a sensitivity. The world is hurting in many ways, yet I am surviving and even thriving having insulated myself fairly well, just keep moving forward always...

Answered a few other's questions today on the forum, it's been fairly quiet on my end. The word games were great yesterday.

I hope you all have a positive day, think of the good in life and your special others...

Friday morning, the last 24 hours has my mind all over the place (it's not hormones), I found myself even changing my profile here, numerous times over the course of my time in front of this computer yesterday (why ?), only to return to my "standard selfie". I am not really looking for replies, but simply documenting a state a mind, and awaking with the feeling of profound awe of all the events that intersected my life. It's really weird what the sub-conscience mind can come up with, not like dreaming, but more analyzing thoughts and experiences, and then feelings. I think about my actions 40 even 50 years ago, and how those sequence of events, has brought me to this moment here in 2019 at a computer keyboard typing messages into a thing called the Internet, and more specifically a forum of transsexuals and others, explaining my sex change experience in hindsight and then others with similar experiences answer, like wow. In my wildest dreams I could not have imagined this. It's the Talking Heads song asking the existential question "well how did I get here ?". The choices in life made, we are the sum of our actions, experiences, and how we intersect others is so profound, yes even here on this forum, I find myself feeling a sense of "deja vu", like I've been here before, I've seen their faces here, I've heard their words perhaps in another time, but the time frame is different now. My actions affected an outcome, the outcome I see before me, and gives me purpose to affect an outcome of the future, however unimportant or insignificant it might be. That's why kindness and caring is so important, I put a message of kindness in my signature, because I feel that way, kindness will make our world better, I truly believe kindness is love nurturing your soul.....

if you made it this far, congratulations.

Congratulations for making it this far, Cynthia 😊

In my biking news, I've also been getting more friendly waves and honks out there, but thank goodness not real interactions for me yet.
I think its because of spring. Or possibly the T treatments i see on billboards that more men take now.
One was a man on a tractor working his field.

I am also cautious.

That's an awesome feeling @Maddie, and I agree with you, in that there is definitely a seasonal component to the guys noticing and reacting, they must be "feelin' their oats" as the old expression goes  :)

Yeah, you get an enhanced situational awareness, i have like this internal "creepo meter" that reads each situation, some encounters are quite pleasant and validating, while others can get "creepy", beware of guys in groups of 3, I heard this from another sister once, and I believe her, there is something about this dynamic....

Sunday Morning - 52f overcast, slept with the window open the cool fresh air made for a nice deep sleep. Got my coffee and read the forums, found the cat barf in the kitchen, at least she hit the foot rug with it  ::) Yesterday I was the homebody after my exercise, doing our chores, today it's the yard, supposed to be warmer today and dryer today. Yesterday's trip to the grocery store was just reminder of how much better things are today, several folks initiated pleasant small talk with me, they felt comfortable just starting random conversations, I enjoyed this, I could feel that they were gentle souls, a kindness came back to me in this way...

Dear Cynthia:
Thanks for posting your update....  I had to chuckle a little when you mentioned the cat barf in the kitchen... the good news is that you didn't step in it in your bare feet when going to get your coffee!!!   Eweeee! :o :o :o

It is always nice to read about how things are getting better day by day.....
    I love your statement:  "A smile is a woman's best curve"
So very true, a big smile will disarm most people that you come across and reactions to you will be softer, kinder more friendly and better.

Well, it is now 6:30AM here,  a little overcast but today should be a warmish day.  I am getting cleaned up and dressed, soon ready to go to church this morning....   I have had my coffee and have looked at a lot of the new postings here on the forums.... and I have even exchanged a few word game posts with you this morning.... lots of fun for sure.

Thanks for your update.
HUGS,
Danielle

Tuesday morning update - overcast 56f, expecting sunshine 70's again (beautiful weather). #2 daughter and her boyfriend came over yesterday and we had a nice BBQ dinner and family time. We planning our side trips for the AK cruise this summer, everyone had their preferences. Our RV is now gone from our driveway ! The buyer came yesterday and took it away, so nice to have that space back, we really were ready to "let it go". #2 took some comforters and other stuff so we really feel like we are making progress in our spring cleaning effort (downsizing). Washed #1 daughter's car yesterday and found her tires low in pressure, only 15 lbs in one front tire, took care of that for her, she hugged me. Today it's back at work and exercise later.

Have a wonderful week all !

Friday morning update – 58f  overcast, heading up to perhaps 70 this evening. Deep conversations with my mate last night, she is a health room assistant at one of the local high schools here, she deals with trans kids there. She was telling me how much they change and how fluid some of their expressions are. This conversation lead to deeper conversations about our relationship, needless to say she demonstrated deep understanding for this hideous condition, and what we've been through, OMG I love her so. Work has been brutally busy the past several days, I've only had a few minutes to read other's posts and answer in only a few lately. I will make the last student loan payment for daughter # 2 next month, she will be free and clear, her 4 years college experience paid for, yeah ! I just felt so good this morning, was called "ma'am" repeatedly on the phone today with my work phone calls, it's like yeah my reward for years of voice training, it never grows old. I ran into the nice lady collecting cans for the women's shelter, she had our cans with her already, pleasant to talk to her. The nice lady at the cemetery waves, and had nice encounter with an older gentleman in the neighborhood asked me how I was doing, and made pleasant small talk, leaving the conversation with "have a nice day dear". I just have to say, I was just blown away looking at myself in the mirror naked this morning (I know TMI), but my gosh I am a GD survivor, and I can really love my body today, and that's saying something, it gives me deep personal satisfaction for the effort. Transition fixes GD and places me firmly among the living. The song of the week is "Circle" by Big Head Todd and Monsters, live Monsters album (1998), gotta love the vibe in this little ditty.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend all

Update 3.19.2024 now almost 14 years into the future since I signed on here, OMG 2010 seemed so long ago. Now almost 5 years since the last update in this thread, I revisit and reflect this morning. Survived the pandemic that would come, lost loved ones, gained new perspectives, life carried on. Transition would provide relief from the suffering of long ago, the journey gave me perspectives not many could appreciate. I've traveled far, and will continue to do so, survival always foremost, life enjoyments of music, travel, friends and family make up the bulk of today's reality. Life is good, be well.....

@LoriDee - Thanks for your kind words here in my revived thread. I see there are some changes to the format here since 5 years ago, the reputation system appears to be gone, and now we have like buttons  :D  I hope your day is simply wonderful, Hugs !

@Sarah B - Thanks for reading here, have a lovely day !

@ChrissyRyan - Nice to see you again Chrissy, thanks for stopping by, it's been a while. This thread is like a time capsule can revisit.

Wednesday mid day, just back from exercise out, cloudy 51f rain moving in. We had a superb stretch of spring like weather here, all the plants are coming alive now, my sweeties allergies flaring up already. I've got a new MHU (mobile habitat unit) since last year, had a blast camping and traveling, just diggin' nature, being out and about, looking for more of the same this year. Removed the anti freeze (winterizing) this week, flushed the water lines, fixed a small drip on the water pump diaphragm, just a small tweak with a screw driver fixed that. Water heater came alive no issues. Retired from my day gig a few years back, now so nice to have the freedom to come and go when I please.

Have a great day

C
