Title: Binding and chest numbness?
Post by: Kacchon on June 28, 2016, 08:03:00 AM
Hi, I used to wear my binder every day without any pain and only a slight discomfort near the end of the day. I'm finding now that I can no longer where it for a whole day without my ribs hurting and tension headaches. I have worn my binder twice this week and am noticing that the next day the sides of my breast feel numb and tingly for the whole day. I am worried this is is something serious and that I have done some permanent damage. I will most likely mention it to my GP soon but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this and does it go away it I take a break from binding? I don't know if this is relevant but I am only an A or a B cup and haven't noticed much change in their shape except they seem slightly less full.

Kacchon, how long have you been wearing a binder?  Does this binder feel tight when you first put it on?  Do you have  other binders and do they all do the same thing?  Just trying to see what is going on for you.

I noticed my ribs hurting when I used to wear an Underworks binder. Even wearing it for a few hours would cause pain. Since switching to GC2B I can wear my binder for 10 hrs with no pain or achyness whatsoever. Also are you sure you bought it in the right size? It should feel tight after wearing it once or twice and then should feel loosened up. And yeah; after not wearing a binder for a few days the pain will go away. It takes years of incorrect binding to do any lasting damage to your ribs. And I've never noticed changes to my chest so that kinda points to your binder being too small. I'm a UK B size btw.

Hi thanks for your replies, I've had my binders for nearly two years, and I used to wear it daily, it is only recently that it has begun to hurt. It only feels tight when I first put it on and it used to feel really comfortable, I could wear it till 10pm and only feel a slight ache after. I haven't gained any weight and my bust hasn't increased so I am sure it isn't the sizing. I have two, a short binder and a long one from lesloveboat. The long binder has started hurting my lower ribs and the numbness doesn't happen until the next day. The short one is more comfortable to wear and I don't get pain it until about 5pm but the numbness happens a day after I've been wearing it which is concerning me.

I mentioned the numbness to my mum yesterday. She pointed out to me that I've been lifting a lot of books at work so it could be muscle pain. I was wearing the binder at work so I was probably restricting my movements too much. I also use the binder for exercise as I only have one sports bra. I'm thinking of taking a break from it and gradually wearing it again, but not during exercise or work to see if that helps.
Thanks again for your help
