Title: My friend found this nifty interesting article regarding Estrogen Actions /Other
Post by: Raye on July 06, 2016, 08:35:39 AM
I'm still reading it still not too far in, but past the introduction, so I doubt (was reading on it does LOL) it contains information on Transgender People, but it's a very interesting article. I will admit that I don't normally read articles pertaining to Medical Research or Thesis Papers, but this article is very interesting to me. I usually read up on engineering articles from time to time to increase my knowledge to help me at work or at least when I did work at plant sites. Now not so much, but I did pick up a bit of Bio-Medical Engineering at one time working on medical equipment was pretty fun. You get to meet various types of people in that type of pathway. So it doesn't take long to talked about about where medical technology is going.

So after that boring introduction on why I'm interested in this particular article it speaks about Estrogen having not only various benefits (or effects) on the Female Body, but also in Males. I recommend if you can stand a very long read take a look at it. I found it from a friend who linked it to me on FaceBook. But it IS possible that it may.

Hello Raye,
Thank you for posting that extremely interesting and fascinating paper.
As you did, I am managing to read my way through it.
I do think it should be more widely disseminated through the TS community.
Hugs,
Bronlee.

That's interesting. I hope they can eventually pin down the mechanisms behind things like MS, Alzheimer's and dementia, and why they seem to have a higher prevalence in women, even if estrogens have protective effects during illness and recovery.

Thanks for reading I hope you all managed to get through the read (I nearly died LOL). In fact, as our bodies require a constant level to manage our bodies correctly. It would seem that Estrogen and Testosterone have 'key' elements in both bodies. With this article I can see positives for adding 'tiny' amounts of Estrogen in Cis Males. As well adding 'tiny' amounts of Testosterone or more Estrogen in Cis Females. Understanding this paper upon the basis to prevent Alzheimer's or other medical issues.

Wow! Thanks for the read!

My brother has been looking for metabolic, neurological, and endocrinological papers on the effects of estrogen in males since I came out to him. This is sure to spark some conversation at the dinner table! Besides that, it seems like a good read personally. I also have a background in engineering, and although medical jargon usually goes over my head, this one is surprisingly down to earth for me!

Thanks a million, fam!

Wow, long read.  I may have missed something, considering my blurred eyes from reading.  Most of the info here pertains to the developed brain of women and men (which is different in structure due to hormonal influences at an early age) and how T and E causes and effects on existing brain structures.  It doesn't seem to say that in adults after taking hrt that brain structure changes to mimic the response of hormones opposite of your early life brain development.

And it wouldn't make sense to study those portions. Simply because your brain wouldn't change as much from the way they administer those hormones. Not to mention probably none of this patients were transgender, meaning if any changes to the brain would occur through a male or female rewiring process may or may not be as self evident. For those types of changes to be eminent or eventual one must have the brain structure required to rewrire those neural pathways, which we exhibit. I believe because they are cisgender and are in belief and/or agreement of who they are is what keeps these subtle changes from occurring. We change because we want to change. Our minds are a powerful thing ya know?!
