Title: Poll: How many require surgery on their path?
Post by: Devlyn on May 26, 2018, 05:45:27 PM
Just trying to put a number on how many people need some kind of surgery vs how many don't.

I didn't need it. Ended up in surgery anyway.

Hey, I'm an easy sell!

Explanation:  Its a boy.  No, its a girl.  No its part way inbetween.  That is me.

Surgeries?

1974 - 1992: Some stuff when I was young that I have no recollection of. (I have the internal scarring to prove it).
1990: Left Inguinal Hernia repair.  Most likely they removed a mass that was there too. (It wasn't intestinal.. it was.. something else)
1993:  Radial Karatotomy (myopic vision)
1995:  CTA
2001:  GCS with Sanguan Kunaporn.. fixed the mess I had before, mostly.
later: other minor work & repairs for scars, accidents, etc.
2017:  FFS with Dr. Cardenas.  Fixed my genetic heritage, not my hormonal load on my face.
2018: Pelvic Laparoscopy... an utter failure at identifying my internal structures for diagnostic purposes.

After?  Still need some most likely, to fix some residual ambiguity and cramps and stuff.  Also need neurosurgery, but that has nothing to do with all this.

I'm tired of surgeons, needles, and medical practice (lol) in general at this point.

I really want SRS and VFS those are my 2 top picks than a BA I would like FFS but would settle with those first

I need breast surgery for sexuality reasons and want hair transplant for gender reasons.

Yes, definitely. Having had breast augmentation last week, I know that I need more. I thought FFS, BBL and GRS, in that chronological order, but I'm now thinking GRS might be my priority

I've had FUE transplants and an abdominoplasty (kinda related to the whole transition thing) to date.

GRS is in the works, FFS is a possible future option, but no BA for me, the boob fairy seems to like me on HRT [emoji5]

If by surgery you mean any procedure that gets past your skin;

Electrolysis, yes, most of us go through that but I have another round this week and it is on my mind. This process takes so long, is so expensive and painful, but for most is an absolute necessity.

Hair transplants, had my second round at the beginning of March and like where I am now (or at least will when it grows out.). This was so big for me to be able to get out and about without a wig. My compassionate sympathies to those that can not go this way.

GCS, last fall and it was the biggie to feel who I am.

I am having a consult with facial team to see what they can do to help. May go that direction but am not being driven there as strongly as I was for the previous three.

Oh Lord, I hope there is no more surgery in my future. After FFS, SRS, then a BA and hair transplants, I am surgeried-out. My body has taken a beating, not to mention my bank account.

I would love to have a nice round butt, instead of that flat, flabby thing that follows me around, but I just can't see another surgery and the recovery from it.

I'm also not real happy with the outcome of my SRS thus far, and actually scheduled a consultation with another surgeon for a revision, but at this point it's just a fact-finding mission, a second opinion. And it's months off, so there is time to change my mind. As Dr. McGinn told me, "You don't seem to tolerate surgery well."  She's damn right.  I'm getting too old for this stuff.

Yes. HRT by itself won't give me the look and confidence I dream of.

I "needed" my GRS I had 7 months ago. I am probably going to look for BA later in life, giving the hormones some more time. FFS is a scary thought that I am not sure off yet.

I've already gone through most of my journey and had the most important (for me) surgery already, which was my mastectomy. But I checked the "yes" box cause I still need a hysto as well.

I'm dysphoric about having those internal organs for what they can do, meaning giving me surprise periods despite being on testosterone (has happened) also cause it's extra likely to happen again now that I have to medicate my vag with local estrogen. And second reason for possibly making me pregnant, cause I do and like having the kind of sex that can lead to that but I really don't want to end up with that kind of consequence ever. I do want to be on T forever, so I've no need or wish to keep the ovaries for that reason either. I'm more or less constantly stressed out about still having those parts, so that definitely feels like a need to take care of.

I definitely want some more masculinising surgeries like a chin implant (FMS?) and lipo on my hip area (mansculpting), but I can't possibly afford that. So I'll just call that an impossible dream and move on from it, and try not to think about it as a need, for the reason it not being achievable for me.

But I don't feel any need to get genital surgery. I used to think I did, but then I changed my mind and started being completely fine with what I already have, even appreciating it a lot. If I would look into srs again, it would be in a far distant future, if ever.

I've not needed or had any kind of non-transition related surgeries in my life.

Go for all you feel needed and can afford. Had FFS, BA and GRS. Scheduling some revision for vagina. Thinking about a new nose. Keeping really fit and  weekly facials, botox every 4 months.

At the very least I required my chest sorting out which has been done, and the surgeon did a marvellous job. My issues with that area are gone forever. I might opt for further surgeries in future. I am going to wait the rest of the year out while I get a few other things in order before any more of that.

Need some FFS not sure yet what im going to do there, considering GRS, and a bbl just so to try and help with body proportion. At the point now of thinking about lining up some consultations so I have the information ready when I am

Hi Julie,                          20 March 2019

Go for it; in my opinion you will be happy ever after. I couldn't wait to get on the table and have those nasty things removed; I even climbed on the table by myself.

Best Always, Love

For me, GCS is a very important piece of transition - I have wanted GCS as long as I've known about it (about 23 years).

I'll probably want FFS but that's more cosmetic, not as fundamentally important as GCS.

Hi Folks,                                             21 March 2019

I didn't vote the first time I posted here so I did this time.

At my age (79 this year) I need a complete overhaul. That would require too many hours under General Anesthesia; I'd be dead or totally useless before they were done. I have no desire to be a corpse,  beautiful or otherwise.

I've reconciled myself to having a cosmetic bottom job for two reasons: I am not attracted to men and even if I were, I'm too old to have intimate relations with them. Once upon a time I was a male, let's just say I'm glad he's history. I never want him to return, don't like being reminded of him and am doing what I can to remove him from my life.

Thankfully, I found Susan's Place and the Love of My Life. If you add up what happiness I had in my first 77 years of life, it wouldn't amount to a trickle of what it is today Thanks to Dena. Just for the record, she has saved my life three times. She is my Guardian Angel. I Love Her with All MY Heart And Soul. Thank You Dear!

Best Always, Love
Christine

I don't think I really need any surgery. I would like a Small BA and maybe an orchie in the future.
I think the big surgery is still so flawed and I have heard scary stories D:

Christine,

Thanks for the support.  I'm like you, I'll climb aboard ASAP to get it done.  I may not stop there and go for it all but for now at least have that done.

Take care,

I have my orchi now well behind me.  But even though they removed most of my scrotum along with the testes, I did not get the psychological result I was hoping for, my genital dysphoria is not cured at all.  Now I try to get SRS done as soon as possible. I am not interspersed in a functional vagina, for the same reason Christine stated, but just the limited depth vulvopalsti with a clitoris.
That will be the only surgery left for me.  I don't need any facial stuff or bigger boobs, and don't a hair transplant either, just that SRS and be over with it!

I only want an orchiectomy. Let the pieces fall where they fall for the rest of me. I just hope for the best. Maybe the universe will be nice to me.

i want to have gcs and some ffs surgery next year. as far as my voice goes, i might have to have voice surgery but i have been told i might just need voice training. i can already sing really high notes. I might also have to have breast augmentation cause my left one is bigger that the right due to left side shoulder surgery along time ago and i want my chest even. thats my 2 cents worth. Hugs all

I thought that the pretty radical orchi I had would be enough for me, but it sure is not!  It somehow made my genital dysphoria worse, and not better!  i seem to have a screwed up brain, too and not only a screwed up body!

I hope you have a better outcome!
