Title: Does anyone like to wear clothing with flower patterns?
Post by: ChrissyRyan on December 14, 2018, 09:42:03 am
Does anyone like to wear clothing with flower patterns?

I do.  I do not like all of the flower patterns, materials, and color combinations, of course.

I especially like lots of little flowers on darker colored clothing.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I love flower prints.

On my first day full time, I will be wearing a flowery something. Because...why not?  :icon_flower:

Oh, yes, I always have.  One of the big frustrations driving my dysphoria was the prohibition on men wearing such clothes.

Yes. Flower patterns are nice even in winter.

I do, all kinds of them. And I like lace and/or embroidery.  I am a real sucker for everything lacy!  Always have been, and always will be!

My daughters decided they were over seeing me in block colors so bought be a lovely flowery top, what they didn't realise is that I had also just purchased two winter dresses that were both flowery...however it is summer here and they haven't seen them.

Looking at my wardrobe I note the mix is about 30% of my wardrobe...maybe I should wear them a bit more LOL

Yesterday I tried wearing it, but later I changed to a pleated skirt, as it did not match well with athletic shoes.

I love to wear flower patterns, esp. lots of small flowers and stems on a dark material, such as wine or black.  This can look so pretty.

About a month ago, I tried to wear a skirt with flower patterns during a conference in Canada. That skirt is very comfy as it has a waistband.

So lovely a skirt on of course a beautiful lady!
That is exactly like one of two skirts I have but they go down to below the knees.
I think I may get one like that though, maybe a tad longer, as it looks really nice.

Barbie,

Chrissy

In my campus, I once saw a college student wearing a similar skirt with a pattern of many tiny flowers on the black background, and it looked so elegant and nice. I decided to purchase one, but it was difficult to find any similar one. I searched the internet and finally found and ordered it. You may also search the internet.

Barbie and others,

Do you know if Korean shopping sites ship to the USA without really high shipping costs?
Looks like AliBaba has some cheap prices but I never ordered.  I wonder if they too ship to the USA at reasonable prices.  I realize that I may not receive an order quickly if bought from out of the country.

I think Barbie buys most of her stuff from China from aliexpress.com.  I looked into this, and they have selected promotions with free shipping.

I mostly shop at AliExpress.com, because of the delivery fees. Most of the AliExpress items are eligible for free delivery, while Korean sites charge US$5-10 for every item to my home town, technically an island. Sometimes the delivery fee is more expensive than the product price.

You may search Google with keywords such as "flower pattern mini skirt winter" and look over those images.

Maybe some of you would like to browse www.comfyshe.com
It has an under $20 section also. I have no connection with that Web site other than as a potential customer.

I am still looking around there.  After I can get the free shipping with enough in the shopping cart I will likely try them out.  I will be curious to see what the quality of the clothes will be.

Be careful about the sizes.  M for that skirt is a 67 cm (26 inch) waist which roughly translates to US Size 2 or XS.
Common practice on Amazon is to include a size chart as one of the photos.  Amazon usually leaves sizing complaints up to help people decide whether an item will fit them.

TJ Max and Old Navy have online shopping, too.  Many of their stuff is very reasonable priced, and their sizing is geared  to US customers.

I like many flower patterns.  A blouse with cute little flowers where you might see mostly only the collar and maybe the cuffs, because of wearing on top a nice solid sweater, can look so nice.  So even the hint of flowers can look great.

Happy clothes shopping and may you mind some nice outfits!   :)

Oh, yes, I always have.  One of the big frustrations driving my dysphoria was the prohibition on men wearing such clothes.

I totally agree.

Now I use floral prints playfully but strategically with more masculine outfits to get the right level of femme for how I’m feeling that day. Feeling just a little femme? Men’s blazer and pants with a floral shirt obviously marketed to women and some nondescript booties. Feeling a little louder? Swap the floral print from the shirt to the blazer, make sure the pants wouldn’t be mistaken for men’s (no pockets!) and (for me) keep that touch of the masculine with a solid button down shirt and oxfords.

Bonus: I get to reclaim my experience of floral prints from “you can’t wear that cuz youre a boy” to “look at this awesome boyish and flowery thing I’m wearing”

Yes! Yes! Yes! I love flower prints.

On my first day full time, I will be wearing a flowery something. Because...why not?  :icon_flower:

So now that I am 19 months into transition I have to revise my statement above...

Florals are no-go.

Prints in general are no good. Prints make my long torso look bigger. In other words, sadly, florals don’t look cute on me. I have also noticed that women with a body type similar to mine also tend to avoid florals and prints of any kind and tend to stick to solid colors.

So no florals for me...at least not right now.

That makes me sad for you.

I fully understand what your saying. Yet one of the things I like about being a woman is the ability to have some fun with my clothing and not have people wonder about me.

I'm sorry to hear that, Sarah. :(

Floral prints are really hit and miss with me.

I generally don't like things that have too busy of a pattern, including paisley, although there are the rare exceptions.

I sometimes wear this in summer. I vainly wish I look like a teen, but I do not care what others think. No blame yet, but my wife and kids say it is too short. Now I have two fashion inspectors every morning when I am about to go out, my wife and daughter. Sometimes it helps.

Yesterday I tried to look mature and conservative.

Hardly ever miss.  They're very difficult to resist actually :)

Does it matter if the cloth is a light tint versus a darker shade?

Unfortunately, no. It’s all a big blob on me, even if it is a dark background.

Florals are supposed to be cute and elegant, but it just doesn’t look elegant on me.

I have to stick to dark solids. This is what pretty much every woman who has my build opts to do. I’ll give a celebrity example: Jennifer Garner (especially mom-body Jennifer Garner) has a build very similar to mine. If you look at what she wears, she stays away from patterns for the most part and sticks to neutrals and blues. There are other lesser-known people whose fashion choices I follow who are all tall and have that same body body type. I have lookbooks of ten of these women in Pinterest, so I have analyzed the heck out of this. And the answer is that most of them, most of the time elect to go with this fashion approach.

I love the flowers but I bought a cute femme polo style shirt that is in a simple, solid color.

The flowers will wait for a future purchase.  Perhaps a nice skirt with a many small flowers print?
