Also, one of my absolute favorite groups just got back together & released their first record in 41 years, and it's every bit as great as they ever were. Gryphon - ReInvention. As a fellow Prog fan, if you haven't heard this, you need to. Very Tull-esque.

@EllenJ2003 - all of those are fabulous !! always loved "Led boots" and "Freeway Jam" the drumming on that track gives me goose bumps, one of my favorite play along songs...
I was in "jazz fusion" band in the early 90's for about 5 years, and we covered "Led Boots" and "Freeway Jam" among our originals. The Beck covers always went over well with the people that came to see us.
It would be fun to hook up someday musically Ellen, I think we could jam for hours, based on what you present here.. I know a really good drummer (same guy in our fusion band), that eats the Beck tunes up.....
Our Sax player at the time was a young prodigy (Steve Scalfati), he's now in the Late Late Show band as seen here.

Dusted off my 50 yo recording of Blind Faith in memory of the legend Ginger Baker that died today. RIP
F.Y.I. - that's Ginger's daughter on the cover of the Blind Faith album.Yes, and although I consider it a work of art and was acceptable in the day, I will not display it on this forum now, hence no picture in the post
Earlier this year, I stumbled upon the Belgian girl group K3.
They may be geared towards kids, but their music is upbeat and it just makes me happy.
…And then I listened to their song “Prinsesje en Superman.”
Could I just say — it really made me emotional. It was the first song I’ve heard in maybe decades that moved me to tears.
(Gender-nonconforming kids being celebrated!)
I listen to their stuff on YouTube. I made a Belgian iTunes account so I could buy their music, but I have no easy way to find a foreign gift card. Oh well.
Recently I listen to classics, I see the Journey band :) I love AOR, anyone too?
Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick
There was so much music in the music back then (1972).
Today I have Fleetwood Mac day:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlfofiKIWnQ

David Bowie - I can't give everything away (2016)
My favorite song from this album is Magic touch, many fans dislike this album because of Disco stuff but I think it is their best album with Ace next to Love Gun.
My favorite track is Whole Lotta Love.Jimmy Page's guitar was mesmerizing, they were like a drug.
I agree, my favorite rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" was on the "The song Remains the Same" live (recorded in '73), the medley 8)
The groove that starts at ~1:20 is just so lovely..
"Has anybody seen the bridge ?"
Jimmy's overtones and rhythm section inter play @ 2:30 - 3:00 still gives me shivers today, OMG

Silver vinyl? Is this a re-release?Yes I have a set of 5 all re-released all on different colours vinyl. The quality is very good, not mucked around with
I see you like distorted audio.
I thought the star was Jessica's highly-modified LP12 which, with its AudioMods arm and AT33-SA cart was quite the best I've ever heard a Linn sound (including my own black fruit box, now with another Wammer). It was clearly a much-loved and beautifully-set up deck. The SA is a relatively modest cartridge considering the finesse of the deck and phono stage, but the quality of signal coming from her self-designed and made phono stage was simply superb. I was particularly taken by the sound of piano from this well-judged combination, not expecting the sort of solidity, timbral insight and stability from that deck. I also wasn't expecting my Luxman D-08U to have such a stiff run for its money but that's certainly what it got. On some tracks I found it hard to prefer one over the other, but with two wammers having the same Jaques Loussier music on LP and SACD respectively, I felt the LP had more vitality and presence. I consider the Luxman a pretty formidable source so hats off to Jessica!

I never got to compare those coloured vinyls with the previous box sets. I have a basic audiophile set-up.For some reason coloured vinyl is all the rage but has no effect on the recording bearing the fact that vinyl is colourless and the standard black is coloured black (I have a theory about that, it was coloured black to make it look the same as the 78’s) so the recording is as good as the master and pressing. Some are very good, a lot are good and a few are terrible (no change there then) I would not buy specific coloured sets of records you already have but if you are missing some it is worth first checking out the second hand market but they are getting expensive, then new, be careful of re-masters and digital re-masters they are often quite different from the originals and not always to the better. Some have had the life taken from them

Nothing wrong with a basic setup there are some good turntables that will not break the bank

That's a nice vocal, I've never heard too much Asia before. Here's one of my fave ABWH, I love the changes, still gives me chills...you've prob heard before:

@JennyTG - McCartney's Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey was a staple from my youth on the radio, great for a rainy day. I absolutely adore Crowded House, we saw them in 2007 at Seattle Center on their tour supporting "Time on Earth"
Thought I would dig it out and play this morning, the whole album is great, love the vocals in this track "Transit lounge", especially at the 2 minute mark, features Beth Rowley in the mix, she takes my mind somewhere else...

Chest Fever - The Band (1968), groovy tune, love the organ and the Leslies growl
IN- A-GADDA-DA-VIDA has some interesting music, including a great drum solo. Vocals suck though.
As I recall that song took the whole side of a LP :)
Listening to K-Tel power hits. "Twenty original hits, from twenty original artists..."
I first heard of K-Tel with the Veg-o-matic. :D
K, never heard that before, well what I can remember. What's your fave album?
My fav will be

They were our "home town heros" where I grew up :D They played our local area High schools and even local movie theater in '76. I can recall the "Mammoth" days. Being a major Van Halen fan I can't ignore this post and question :D
Here is "promo" 45 in my collection from Warner Bros used just before the 1st album came out !
I like pretty much all their older stuff
WOW, but was a promo of Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love before they released the first album?
The song on the promo was "You really got me", they covered the old Kinks tune on their first album as you may recall. Notice that it was produced in "Mono" on that side, the other side is the same song in stereo :)
If you click on the image here it should "zoom", perhaps that will help to see the song title on the promo disc in more details....

I mean, was there another promo album released or only the one you own?
Thanks for your question Andrea :)
This is the only "promo" I own and predates the release of the first album. I am sure there all kinds of other stuff the record company put out during that time.
I have pretty much all their commercially produced albums, Warner Brothers did very well signing them !
Do have a rockin' day !
Listening to this, I feel like a hippie Cynthia ;D, I bet they played at Woodstock :)
:) :)
Take the hippie vibe and fast forward 3 decades

Fantastic guitar!
Totally Agree @AnneK , their catalog is deep. Back in the 80's we played a club in N Seattle called "Parker's Ballroom" and backstage you could spot the Wilson sisters autographs on the wall there, legendary. For you music trivia types, a little "local" history....
@EllenJ2003 - nice listening :)
Most def the first! ;D Not bad actually, never heard that before.
The extraordinary Marc, you heard this one?

I have been going through my oldies collection and here is a song that I almost forgot about....
You will surely find it appropriate for the rainy Pacific Northwest!!!

So difficult that one, I think they're both great equally.
What do you think of this performance? I think it could be the best version out there, good guitarist as well:

Any BOC fans on this forum? From the new album which is pretty much a stinker unfortunately, this is the exception:I found out recently that they had a new one out. Not their best of course, but it'd be ludicrous to expect that at this point.

So, as I commented already, I started HRT today, and I felt pulled to this Coil classic:

Something VERY different from the usual musical posts on this thread. I may have mentioned that I played lead guitar, and sang lead and backing vocals in heavy rock bands. What I didn't mention, was that I also played symphonic music (I played Euphonium), through my Sophomore year of college. Since I wasn't a music major, and was transferring to a major university (the University of Wisconsin), I ceased to play symphonic music after 1984. Nevertheless, I still have a love for symphonic music (and there are times, when I very much miss playing the stuff - though at age 57, unless I can come up with about $5000 for a Euphonium, and am willing to play in some community band, with mediocre musicians [no thanks, I was 1st chair, when I played in symphonic bands], that ain't happening]). I just finished watching the video below. It's from 2016 - a time period, when flash mobs were in vogue, and many symphonies also did the flash mob thing for fun, and for the publicity.
The piece is from Gustav Holst's "The Planets" suite, and is the "Jupiter" movement of the suite. It was performed at the Prudential Center in Boston by the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra (from the Berklee School of Music - a very well known and respected music school). Like all symphony flash mobs, it starts off with a single solitary instrument (a cello in this case), and builds up to a full symphony, complete with strings, percussion, wind instruments, and a conductor. I found it very moving (the kind of music that brings me to tears - Aaron Copeland's "Fanfare for The Common Man" also does that to me sometimes [I love emotional music]), and I remember playing "The Planets" suite, when I played in the junior college symphony.
