I'm more from the 80s but any gen really, I want to know out there. Some of my fave bands I can still listen to would include The Mission / All About Eve / The Cure / The Banshees and Dead Can Dance. I don't hear much talk from this era these days that's all.

I hear ya! I'm a big fan of gothic rock / metal. In Gothic rock genre my favorite band is The Sisters Of Mercy. When it comes to metal, in the 90's as a teenager I listened to Theatre Of Tragedy.

Hey Andrea, yeah I had a few try to turn me onto The Sisters, they were very popular back then as well. I guess the metal I was listening to in my teens was more NWOBHM (Maiden/Saxon etc)...I must be a few years older than you ;)

My aunt listened to Maidens in the 80s but it was too heavy for me then,I preferred Europe-The Final Countdown.Fields of the Nephilim was also a great band:)

Just you and me again Andrea, you still out there?

^^^ I'm gonna catch up Andrea I promise! Just been so busy of late...The Eves are in my Top 5 Goth (loose term), Julianne has one of the best voices I've ever heard in that genre. Do you like Dead Can Dance or The Mission by any chance? Please keep posting, a few I've never heard of before.

Don't know the first, I think I've heard of that second group before.

Thanks hun, you're very sweet. Same to you :) I am way behind you on goth music though!

I like it a fair bit but I'm stuck in the 80s really where it had a certain kind of production.

@ Andrea: Not bad at all, loved the start of it. What year was this?

Hope I'm okay to barge in on this, too.....
I remember, in my late teens and early 20s, I listened to almost nothing except for Fields of the Nephilim. :)
Then, I discovered Current 93 and Coil, and I have been hooked on those ever since (we're talking almost 30 years now).
They're a bit more quirkier than other Goth/Industrial bands are, but they just really 'set right' with me. :)
-
Hey there, ex g/f tried me on Current 93, not really my cuppa but she really liked them, and many others that were a little too extreme for me. I guess I liked my Goth more on the pop side, it varies quite a bit though.

Hey Jenny...I totally understand. It's like having your tea with no milk or sugar (which I do...I even will put a spoonful of instant coffee into my black tea sometimes). You either absolutely love it, or are absolutely repulsed by it..not much in-between (usually, anyway).
But, one thing I do really admire about David Tibet and Michael Cashmore (and Coil, DI6, and really, the lot of them), was how they brought so many trans artists into the C93 fold (Genesis P-Orridge, Baby Dee, Anohni, etc.).
That was just nice. :)

If you like early Siouxsie and the Banshees, try Skeletal Family. (I don’t know how to embed videos on here.)

Hey Ashley, I think you can just copy/paste the YouTube URL in your reply, and it will auto-embed.
