Title: Davina's Diary series 2 , the final stage.
Post by: davina61 on February 04, 2020, 03:07:59 pm
Well final stage?? maybe as after my GIC visit in March should be on my way to GRS , face torture , voice straining and all that goes with it. Retirement beckons (still 13 months away , 13 months to long) when I can at last be free.
Anyway part 2 of my journey .

Got a ******* cold now, day off as well. Just hope its better by tomorrow, Olbas oil helping keeping the tubes clear. Will get some fresh air in a bit as need to got to chemist and pick up my patches and some more cold meds.
Need to go on this diet seriously , feeling like one of the hippos from Fantasia, last blood test shows cholesterol levels on upper limit (tell me I could have guessed ) E was a bit low maybe from different patches??Must go and make myself "presentable" as still in nighty, frost this morning and foggy so thick coat time.

When I went to pick up my patches the doc hadn't sent order down, they will have my full amount tomorrow and gave me some today. She said ring them a week before to make sure they get ordered. Bugger more faffing about.
Nose wont stop running, have a large pile of tissues to chuck.  Recon will be off work tomorrow, in the time its taken me to type this 2 more tissues on the pile .Well if they don't like it at work tough.
My E reading from my last blood test was very low but thinking it might be a typo, says 70 int and I think it should be 170 if not 270 by my last test. T is still the same.

Only a group of transgender people could celebrate and congratulate you for being "on my way to GRS , face torture , voice straining and all that goes with it."  We are an odd and wonderful group!

Exciting news and best wishes,

Emma

little bit of rationing going' on the E patches in the UK, we've been hearin'

70 pg / ml is a bit low (still in range on the low side for post a menopausal female according to one chart i've seen).

Rest well

Thanks Cindi , well still <not allowed> today so had to text in sick . Cold remedy powder tastes gross so put a tea spoon of honey in the hot water!!! bit better. Nose is slowing down , so far just a head cold so hoping it doesn't end up on the lungs (prone to chest infections, now that's funny!!) . Brain is addled, but then its never worked correctly anyway. Have some thin sliced beef to use for lunch , cant decide if its a beef mustard and pickle sandwich or cook some pasta /cous cous and make something up??

Dragged my self to work , coughing up chunks still. Managed till lunch time and had to come home , running a temp and chest tight (not the bra strap either ) so called in pharmacy and have a remedy and picked up the rest of my patches. Olbas oil is helping a lot as well clearing the gunk.
Made a mango kulfi yesterday and that's helping the throat, Joked today saying I had come down with the Cajon virus as cant stop playing a rhythm!!!!

No I fed you the line, right on my humour dear . Managed a full day at work, lungs clearing but sinus is getting bunged so good job I took the Olbas oil with me to clear out.
One of my friends in hot rod club had a big fire in his garage , started at 2 am so by the time it was noticed and fire brigade got there the place was gutted. 3 race cars lost engines and his life time of trophy's and memorabilia. Still no one was hurt , 2 cars belong to his sons and the one had only been painted and finish 4 days before.

So last night went to open mic, Texas Tick Fever were headlining and I said OK if I join in with the washboard? If you can keep up they said, halfway through the set I got a thanks over the PA!! They played guitar and banjo , some trad style and some modern played finger picking, finished with Viva Las Vegas!!!ye ha.
Serious bit now, the site I work at is closing as they have been out bid on the lease and we are moving to the other branch in town, meeting with "management" yesterday. with you bad wrist and your welfare in mind we want you to go to Gloucester branch as they don't have automated testing lane at other branch and there is a vacancy with ATL in Gloucester . Told them before don't want to go there , its 12 more miles a day, they work Sundays and the testing lane is a pain to get onto . already from getting up to returning home is 12 hrs and it will be longer . Asked them to make me redundant , don't think we can do that. That's don't want to pay out redundancy more like. They need an answer by tomorrow, every one I told said quit!!! but that wont pay the bills so don't know what to do GGGGGRRRRRRRR

Nothing like an Elvis tune to get things hoppin'  :) Amazing how popular and how many generations Elvis has endured.

As your for job, tough choices ahead, hope things work out for you Davina. I am guessing that "redundant" means "layed off" in so many words (US vs UK terms), which might include a severance pay ?

Have a nice day there and good luck !

Davina, reading your thread, I kept thinking "just hold on another year...just hold on..."

Now, I just hope it works out for you. Any way it does. As long as it  keeps you on track (and hopefully under a roof).
Other people must be reacting to the move too.  Please watch for any unexpected window of opportunity that you can get.  Before management can close it in order to cover their scrambling tails.
And best luck playing your cards at the right time.

So of course area manager never turned up (nothing new there then) so still waiting . Last night went to see BFF sing as she is now "famous" after being on TV !!! Band was brill , have videoed 3 songs and managed to post one on face ache .
Was going out tonight but chesty cough returned so decided to slum in. Have to go food shop tomorrow as forgot to swop my purse over to my work bag , now how many have done that??

I carry one purse mostly these days, and when I go for the food shop, always strap my bag handles in the cart seat kiddie strap, so it stays where it is  :) and when placing groceries into car, always put my bag in car first, then unload food cart, thieves can be lurking in parking lots preying on unsuspecting women leaving their bags in the cart as they unload (yes it does happen).

Brilliant on the music and your BFF, how fun...

Good luck next week with area manager....

I agree wholeheartedly with Maddie's sentiment.  Go out on your terms, not theres!

This summer as I was unloading my cart a woman approached me to bring my attention to this very point.  Put your handbag in the car first and stay aware of people walking around near you.  Very good advice.

Now back to life!! water pressure has gone again so not been able to shower for 2 days , took my work clothes to mum as didn't want to damage washing machine. Time for a <not allowed>   email again.

Dear Davina:
If you are late arriving to work you probably will not be the only one not getting there on time.

Hmmm,....   what if it was SNOW and ICE???....
Here with I live it takes many feet of snow here to slow things down or to stop them..

Got to work early!!! not much traffic in fact manager was 10 mins late------ the one bit of road was just passable but is now closed. Took my mums car in for its annual test ,it only gets chuged around but tonight got a good clear out.   As all the river bridges are closed I had to go via motor way and instead of a 14 mile trip it was 40 and took over an hour. Causeway on south side of town is at the moment still clear but rivers still rising for the next 2 days , not going in to work tomorrow with the distance and time . If they don't like it then they know what to do with it!! Still suffering from this chest/cold thing so might be ill anyway TBH only went today to sort mums car. They did let me go home early !!!
Not been able to have a shower for 3 days now as water pressure has gone (again) reported but like all the firms can only click on a box on web page and not give a full report. Its not like you can speak to anyone .

Thought I might get a day off , no water went down and bridge reopened. Its supposed to rise again tomorrow just hope not to much. Area manager turned up today  and told him not going to Glos and anyway its a 2 person test bay at the other site so I will not be wobbling the suspension as my assistant will be doing it. So looks like stuck in this job for a year. Lets see how I get on, the depression has lifted due to the fact I thought might be leaving . Time for a flannel wash again , still no water pressure------------

Thought I was feeling better till I got up!!! So stuck indoors , do have an online exam to do for work so if I can find the site that's my mission for this morning. Nice on FB when I posted not going to open mic that I had replies saying get well soon you will be missed . Coffee cup empty so off to the coffee shop next door (ok my kitchen!!) for a refill.
Did my exam and passed BUT WHY do they put questions in that have little to do with everyday stuff?? and the answer contradicts the manual -----

Good start to today, taking my work clothes to mum to wash and got to car to find front tyre flat. Pump it up and hole n side wall/tread shoulder so not reparable . AS there is no spare with this car tried to use sealer but not working , well it sealed the valve core up and now cant pump up tyre. Mum to the rescue, she picked me up then lent me her car so I can take wheel to work tomorrow.
Still no water pressure, talking to the lady that lives next to car park as waiting for mum and she said took 15mins to run 6ins  of water for a bath. She is nice and gave me some mint sweets .

It was good to have a nice long hot shower and trim the legs!! Anti T shot and blood test today, think its about 1/8th mile from docs to my road (the mirth giving named Minge Lane) and it took me 5mins due to the queue of traffic going over the river bridge. Looks like that route will stay open , floods not as bad as predicted . Made some oat biscuits and some choc fudge to take to work.  (https://i.imgur.com/4MREwHY.jpg) pic of fudge not loading , its froze-----------

We are going paperless at work with small tablets that have the jobs loaded and you just click on to start. That's the easy bit, take 4 pics of car before starting load in tyre sizes, age and tread . Sounds simple but is a tyre has 2mm of tread it comes up red and then you have to go to another screen and load in all the details again and when job finished take 4 more pics . Now some days I have to go like a headless chicken just to get the tests done on time, how am I going to find time to do all this extra work . Doing my head in and just about totally had enough of the stupid <not allowed> . It has got ridiculous as we do free retests after repairs, just check and pass, but with the tablets its listed as a job and all the tyre info etc has to be filled in <not allowed> . On the look out for a new job-------------

50 years doing this job and the firm I work for have beaten any enjoyment out of it.

@davina61
Dear Davina:
Even though in my occupation, the accounting world...computers, monitor displays, iPads, etc are needed everywhere, I am still a Pen&Paper person....   I like to log things down on a piece of paper that will not disappear into cyberspace when things go wrong with the bits and bytes of computer systems.   In addition to my Blog and other threads here I still keep and Pen&Paper journal.

I trust that you can get get your job enjoyment back soon and get rid of your depression.
I wrote a longish reply to you on your new thread/topic that you just started.....
        "work stress/depression"

I am wishing you well and trusting that you will find a way to not be depressed over job and personal happenings.
HUGS,
Danielle

That's not so bad, you can work at your own pace and not have someone shove the next job at you before you have had chance to finish the last one. Gave the tablet a try, its fine to use and do not have a problem in that respect just bad design of the program for my tasks. What would have normally  have taken me 45 mins to do took 65 mins due to the tablet and I was working flat out. Cant see how it is possible to do the extra booking and do the inspection correctly in the time given , BTW there is NO time set for doing one just work books one in every 50 mins.
Totally exhausted and it was a short day. Having a steak and veg for tea , still have some wine left . The fudge I made goes well with the ginger biscuits , might just have some for pudding ;)

Only had to  melt downs today, first when I couldn't get the damn tablet to work first test and then in the middle afternoon as just totally exhausted. 5 tests this morning with no stopping in between and  4 after lunch. Had to work my socks off just to get them done on time with the extra work of the tablets , feel like I have been beaten . Cant do this every day , will see what happens on Thurs .

Day off and was going to work on panel van but just washed out, rang my mum and ended up in tears so she came over and we went to chemist and grocery shop. Nice to have company for a bit. Catching up on house work now, have tomorrow off so will see what I can do then.

Another day on the job for me, glad I don't have commute very far (just to the kitchen for coffee  :)).

back on the anti bionics , as for the stress and all just got a "you can have a week off on a self sick note" followed by basically a rough translation "if you not going to top your self just see how you feel and have a word with work" chocolate and tea pot spring to mind!! Had a nice lunch with mum , got some shopping (food) done and ended up with a lot more than I had on my list. Store cupboard stuff as it was reduced , managed to get toilet rolls but not many on the shelf due to numptys panic buying .

Well stuck in again, bought a HUGE turkey leg and thigh yesterday so looked for recipe. Found a lamb green curry that said can be made with chicken, TBH the meat is more like lamb anyway. Cooked lovely and as oven on roasted the leg and that will make a Jalfrezi. Rang BFF this morning and she said she would call in but not seen her yet (not holding my breath!!) Anyway its dusk and the pigeons are roosting in the tree out side my window (2nd floor) cloudy   and windy making it chilly so curled up on sofa .

Managed to clean up a bucket of dust from my panel van, then made more by rubbing down filler again!!!! Got spray under coat on my nails , misty grey effect------- 3 hrs was enough today but its warming up at 12C and sunny. Good news floods have gone so shorter way to work . Talking of work have to write a letter to manager saying about my concerns not having a test assistant , will lose licence if caught and then no job. Working to rule as well , what can they do about that without dropping themselves in it???

well enough to make this for tea as well , Jalfrezi and recipe says broad beans and red pepper but side bar says any root veg, courgette or broccoli and you can use any left over meat so this had turkey leg. Went down well with a stuffed paratha .(https://i.imgur.com/2FHo2gf.jpg)

Ooh yeh, a search well worth continuing! When you find that bra it’s
A) wonderful and
B) very hard to resist wearing immodest tops to demonstrate the bras capabilities!

In my case the boobs are not so big but the cleavage concept was irresistible!

Yes girls a good cowboy bra works wonders ( its an old joke, as in round them up and move them out!! ) wearing mine last night to open mic. Played a lot of Cajon last nigh and no splits to fingers so the cream is working!! 3 local musicians that only got together 2 weeks ago (more as a chance meet up as well) played a brill set and they only had 2 rehearsals as well. 3 very talented , multi talented , from each playing 2 instruments and taking it in turns to sing lead. Most enjoyable night, TBH needed it after yesterdays work  that was manic. We had some high ups come round to see how the new setup was working (not) and one of them asked me how I was . Woops big mistake as he got it with both barrels , well I am all ways honest !! Area manager didn't like it , tough.
Well I was going to work on panel van today but so tired I just cant be bothered. Need to walk down chemist anyway as run out of hand cream and need heel balm, have always suffered from dry skin /cracks . That's something I inherited from my dad, that and my bald forehead ----------

Dear Davina:
Steering wheels, radio and instrument knobs and buttons, door handles, etc... all all suspect.
Touch screens on phones, pads and computers are especially suspect.

Please be careful out there, even without the Coronavirus scare, the things that I mentioned are always germ laden.

Still felt knackered when I woke this morning, first test was 1/2 hr late starting (management cock up) so rushing my socks off. Started coughing again then chest got really tight (I was OK yesterday but coughing Wed at work) so came home . Not sure if it was asthma or stress but as soon as I got in my car it started to clear , rang docs and they phoned back saying see how it goes as its clearing. Still feels bruised on my sternum , doc said it takes a long time to recover after infection. The air quality was never very good at that site as bus fumes get trapped by the buildings. Time to make a move I think.

Cough and a runny nose now ------------- no high temp so think its just a "normal" cold , still not shaken off that chest infection properly from 4/5 weeks ago as tubes still feel rough. Staying in today anyways as waiting for call from GIC ,I think a nice hot shower and let the steam clear my head. Looks like the flat will be VERY tidy today!!!! (if I can be bothered)

If your coughing continues, and especially if it gets worse, please get to a clinic....
You only have one life, take care of it better than your would your favorite and most prized automobile...

Stay home, rest, get some Chicken Soup or Chicken Broth, and try to get over this.

Rang the 111 service (medical advice line) and have been told to self isolate for a week, cough worse this morning and might have a slight temp . Don't have a thermometer so cant tell but its 18C in my front room and I feel hot. Need some groceries as short on veg, mum will be going to shop so will see if she can get me some . She is 84 and is refusing to stay in , she is fit though.

Take care and isolate properly. If you can get anyone to go shopping for you try and get more than a couple of days worth and any long life foodstuffs like pasta and rice is a must. Make sure you have adequate soap as well.
Best of luck dear friend
Take care

My eldest lad is self isolating for 2 weeks, sounds like he has got it from his symptoms. Like me he has always been prone to chest infections. .
Mum got me a load of shopping, she dropped it off and I just ran out and collected it .More than I asked for bless her, she had trouble getting meat as that looks like the next hoarder's target <not allowed> but she got me a leg of lamb . That will make a curry and a stew for next week.

Ended up calling in to help check wiring, so much for isolation as he spent ages down my unit. Ex said her cousin had this cough that refuses to go after chest infection and antibiotics , trouble is it left me more susceptible to catching stuff. Anyway got my feet up and that bottle of red will be cracked , I shall drink a toast to you all GOOD HEALTH

Dear Davina:
In my daily life, especially at work, I am coming across people that may have a cough or sniffling or whatever....
... when they leave my office I immediately wash my hands and wipe down and sanitize the door knobs,  and chair handles in the chair that they sat on and any area of my desk that they may have touched.

Fortunately in my small town and area that I live in there are NO know cases or ever suspected cases of Covid-19  ... but that can change in a hurry so I am very, very careful.

My dear Davina.... Stay safe and healthy,
HUGS,
Danielle

Got on well today and fitted a lot of bits to steering and brakes . Called into chemist as needed them to order my patches, they have marked the floor and put barrier up to counter at 6 ft spacings.
Tried to phone mum, no answer she was stuck at Docs getting her prescription . car park was divided up and spaces numbered with some one going round with a clipboard taking details and then dishing stuff out . She was down there 2hrs !!! My breathing feels better again , see what its like later in the week.
Messaged my daughter (all ok) she is off work as the hair dressers she works at have closed and her fella is as well due to lack of new parts , he builds dustbin wagons .

Will inform docs anyway. My next visit to GIC is in June (is its OK to go by then) when I will get signatures for surgery . Have to decide who to go with and full or partial .

Working on my own VW  but at my pace has been good due to the rapid progress , a months worth of spare time in one week. Still feeling a lack of energy , HRT effect? or old age?
Overcast this morning and gradually turning colder, some showers forecast  .

Dear Davina:
Not being at work seems to be doing good things for you, even though it is a "forced" vacation.
Gives you an opportunity to do some things that you enjoy... more-so than at your work...

Hey girl, you have not posted any photos lately showing your hobby of making clocks out of old automobile parts.   I have really enjoyed seeing your handiwork ... and I suppose it can bring in a little extra money when you can sell some of your creations...

I am wishing you well, stay safe, stay healthy....

HUGS, and best wishes as always,
Danielle

The lad in the next flat to mine has not been about for a week so as I had made some biscuits thought I would take some to him, he opened the door a crack and he looks like <not allowed> , could hardly speak as well. I had stood well back anyway so said hold out your hand and dropped bag in them quick. Told him if your stuck let me know.
As well as biscuits made a walnut cake, waiting for it to cool for a coffee butter cream filling and icing top.
Clocks moved forward an hour last night to BST so all behind , still washing, vac and dusting done. Its nice being the "house wife" today!!!

Another day------------ Made sandwiches and a flask of coffee to take to my lockup but lacking motivation. Found a can of stone chip sat on my paint shelf , God knows how old it is but stirred it for ages and its still to thick for spay gun!!! I keep putting of fixing the rear bumper mountings as all the captive nuts are broken off inside chassis , no room to get grinder in so drill heads off bolts is the only way and not looking forward to that .
Chest has cleared ,will give it a few more days to make sure then back to work Fri . Have to do a supermarket shop tomorrow as running out of shaver blades and foam. Mum has given me a list as well . Time to get my rump in gear

Dropped mums off for her , she  is fine . New wig came today , same as one I have but didn't realise how tired the old on was . Off to the "dust hole" again today, filler dust gets everywhere  even with a good quality face mask . Makes me wonder how good they work against bugs? Back to work tomorrow but spoke to them yesterday and its gone very quiet , still a week to go and then have a weeks booked holiday . Tidied up my old wig that had frizzy ends , its shortened it an inch or so but going to wear it to work now. The short one I have been using for 2 1/2 years is getting very tired , elastic has gone slack .
Missing seeing my chums and BFF , she posted some vids of her band as have  a load of the performers from open mic night . Good but its not the same as live -----------

Please be careful with the dust Davina.  I understand that some masks work poorly but resist the temptation to go without.  I've determined my breathing issues go back to years working with no or poor masks.  Like you I've worked on cars for seemingly ever, plus I've completely remodeled three homes of my own whilst working on others.  I have a couple good respirators in the shop and I'll use one even when tidying up as who knows whats in the air that gets kicked up.

Good idea to tidy up that old wig-hat!  I know you're itching to get back to the club where you can play and dance.
Cheers, Judi

Get hay fever and always been  slightly asthmatic, all that brake dust and rubbish from 50years working on cars has not helped . The MMM masks I have are good. Just one rear lower corner to fill, awkward shape around door handle and some final fettling left .
Dropped some stuff of for my youngest, he is rebuilding a trail bike . He said the ex who is a nurse has some cases in here cottage hospital , he was  being cautious just in case.

Dear Davina:
I am thinking that we should be glad for any business that is allowed to stay open, just as long as the employees are staying safe.
My business is way way own because the local businesses that I do financial, tax and payroll work for are mandated to be closed....  some of these business will not weather the storm, they will not be back, thus the employees are out of a job and out in the cold.

Hang in there Davina...  be glad that you have a job to go to....

There is nothing like a good day's work... I find that after I work hard, come home and clean up, eat dinner, that I sometimes want to go to bed way too early.  Usually a good night's sleep will ensue.
The problem for me is that if I go to bed too early then I'm up at 4:00AM and then I can't get back to sleep.

Bit of a relax yesterday, food shop then back home for midday. Dropped Easter eggs of for the kids at the ex's , don't know when they will get them due to lock down. Made a pineapple upside down pudding , bought a reduced price pack of fresh and it was to much to eat so 1/2 went in pud . Walked to local shop as some stuff I needed was out of stock in supermarket. Had to queue to get in as only letting 30 folk in at once . made for a quick shop!!
Off down the unit again to finish shelf and sort boxes , way to much stuff but you know what happens as when you throw it away you need it next day!!

Lock down extended, will have to start raiding my freezer meals next week . Needs clearing anyway. Of to work on the panel again, thing is I don't feel very lady like doing this sort of thing. Still plenty of girls do its just its a hang over from the old me, thinking its the lack of going out dressed up-----------

Overslept big time again!! Never mind not got a bus to catch. Weird dream, the straight bit of road out of village was closed for drag racing. Seeing folk not seen for years but had forgotten to put wig on!! Then was going to get my Dodge Challenger and race it, not had that for 34 years----------
Scrambles the brain waking up from stuff like this, waiting for it to sort itself out then back to rubbing filler down

Gave myself day off working on bus, well its turned cold and wet and flat needs cleaning, clothes to wash and cooking to do. Have veg to cook before it goes bad, courgettes , cauliflower so looks like a couple of curries then . Have been trying to sprout some moth beans to cook but less than 1/2 have shoots so far.
Missing my friends and family, have a zoom hot rod club meet tonight so a bit of distraction but not the same.

Bugger got a runny nose/blocked sinus and sticky eyes , cold? or from all that filler/paint dust that gets into your system through the best dust masks . Could be hay fever, anyway hope fully this should be last day of rubbing down/paint stripping then the big clean up begins to get all the dust up before painting. What fun!!!
Think I might make a quiche tonight to go in lunch box , that's if the gluten free flour (all I could get) cooks ok.

Where did April go , saying that only had 2 days at work. Still have 3 weeks of furlough left as well . Keeping myself busy has helped , my youngest lad wants me to rewire his bike tomorrow. Well its more sort out previous bodges , KTM moto cross bike made road legal so a lot of add ones like indicators , lights, horn .
Got my new patches and they haven't reduced dose , blood test in 2 weeks time (if I can get it done?) so see what the levels are like then.
its breezy today , forecast high of 16 C but thundery showers later. Had to put heating on the last few nights and under floor heating that on thermostat has come on in kitchen .
Look after yourselves everyone XXXXXXX

I'm the same but mine's just hay fever  I have to spend a few minutes every morning clearing my sinuses by breathing long slow breaths in through the nose. It's annoying because if my sinuses aren't clear I lose control of voice pitch.

As Robin said , colour me red for abasement (just been watching Bat Woman   ) . Decided to cook some Parathas for tea , recipe said heat a griddle and coat with butter. Now put extractor on and closed kitchen door and it still set fire alarm off, as its a block of flats its a full on system. Managed to turn it off after cleaning detector with vac and putting code in . Its happened before from cooking fumes and not just to me .

Sent a curry to the ex, lamb korma , cauliflower and potatoes and moth beans. Got a text saying thanks it was delicious .My cooking is improving as pick up tips like add a splash of water when frying spices to stop them burning, cover onions when frying to cook quicker but get them dry to brown .
Started spraying primer on van, after rewiring my lads KTM he gave me a hand to turn unit into temp spray booth, cant rig up an extractor though. Still its paint and go home, have new mask and painters overalls .

Had to go and get more paint supplies , ran out of gloves as well but they had some. Got primer on my hands and it will not come off even with gun wash, it will wear off------------eventually.

no point in nail varnish

I know with all this hand washing it's harder to keep a good looking manicure.

Supermarket experience here has been calm and relaxed so far, we went yesterday, although contrarian timing makes quite a difference...

It was very quiet , did shopping in no time (still no self raising flour) .  Mum had a "community" food parcel given to her, 2 day past sell by spinach (made a curry) and a squashed looking kiwi fruit (was ok!) so she gave me the stuff she wont use including 1/2 loaf of brown bread with todays use by. Supermarkets saying they give food to help out but looks like stuff that would have been thrown away.
Spinach curry, wash and coarsely chop spinach, drain. Olive oil in pan, fry cumin seeds when they sizzle add thinly sliced garlic, when golden add spinach salt and cayenne pepper fry 1min then cover and cook till wilted. remove lid and cook till moisture gone . serve .

Will be busy for the next few days rubbing down primer.

@Davina
Dear Davina:
You had me wondering what is "Toad in the Hole"
I looked it up... and it sounds wonderful.
Toad in the hole or Sausage Toad is a traditional
English dish consisting of sausages in Yorkshire
pudding batter, usually served with onion gravy
    and vegetables.
Historically, the dish has also been prepared using
other meats, such as rump steak and lamb's kidney.

Yes, I hope that you can get your blood test in time for your anti-T injection...
Please continue to keep your thread updated.
HUGS,
Danielle

Just one sausage at a time, will last 3 days. Was going (or at least thinking about) to fire up my barbeque but have to do it in community garden and on 2nd floor . Griddle pan then and try not to set smoke alarm off!!!
75th VE day holiday today , shame for all the street party's and celebrations that have had to be cancelled . Lot have gone on line with performances from there house/garden and a lot of "end of drive" street party's as well .

End of drive street parties sounds fun.  It's good that folks are friendly.

I used to have vans, nothing too custom though..  Sometimes would park on busy streets and set up and jam on the roof.  Use power inverter to run my sound from the battery.

Yes not the same ,no atmosphere . Suppose to be easing restrictions today, Boris is doing a speech later so see what happens .
Just made a bacon, egg, mushroom and tomato breakfast and a BLT sarnie for lunch, off to the "dust hole" to rub down some more primer . Wrist was a bit sore and aching after yesterday but recovered overnight .
Managed to get some strong white bread flour , was thinking of sour dough but its a fiddle to make starter (and a waste of flour) as instructions I found said it takes 5 days and you throw away 1/2 each day.

Furlough day ??? lost count!!! Hands are very sore from rubbing down primer and not started to wet flat yet Lots of hand cream and Snowfire for splits . Have a new pack of Nitrile gloves so will see if they are any good and not rip easy.
Made a suet pastry top for the defrosted chicken and leek pie filling , made to much so it made a bacon turn over . Also used up some carrots as starting to put out roots , they were in fridge wrapped in foil . Carrot and coriander curry , makes a different way to cook carrots with a slight kick from Cayenne pepper .
Zoom meet with hot rod club again tonight , shopping for mum tomorrow where has the week gone?
Not sure if my furlough  will be extended , Gov announcement today but if there is insufficient work  for me I can see employer extending it just so my wages get paid for them .

Morning to my reader, its sunny with a good breeze and highs forecast of 15C .
Had a toss and turn night but feel okay , must have been that banana "cake" I ate before going to bed. I said "cake" as cooking 3 dishes at once forgot to put baking soda in with plain flour so its like a bread pudding, still fine to eat.

The original , Velvet green . its a slightly sage green , saw a pamphlet from 68 for VW for the all new T2 and its the same colour and trim spec as mine .
My lad is coming to help me fit cab doors this morning then he is going kayaking !!
Its a bit cold and cloudy today but supposed to brighten up later , hope so as need to do more paint.

Panel van painted this morning, still have sliding door to do as ran out of space. Cooked my bread , not to bad for first attempt just a little doughy at bottom .(https://i.imgur.com/LKrBwZw.jpg)

@davina61
Congratulations on first baked bread....  nothing better than when it first comes out of the oven and still warm, lots of butter and perhaps some jam.....  one has to be careful to not eat the entire loaf of bread in that situation...
... so very, very good!!!

Spent afternoon mostly cooking , made a pineapple upside down cake as bought a pack of pineapple chunks cheap with todays date on . Pork rolled lion joint same thing (use by today) and cooked a pork and lentil curry, piece left over got roasted. Then did a broccoli curry that's like a steamed stir fry  . That should keep me fed till weekend and beyond .
Bored now (cant you tell) , its a nice warm sunny evening that's perfect to walk down the river and have a beer, that's a no go then------------

Might still have a beer though.

Feeling on a bit of a downer at the moment, transition on hold due to no visit to GIC so no electrolysis yet and delayed getting onto GRS list . Boobs have stalled and still not lost any weight, lack of energy not helping .
On the plus side my eye colour has darkened, was a very light blue/grey that's turned much more dark blue .
Just gone 9am so time to get my bum in gear, bit of random cloud about with some showers forecast   this morning and cooler than yesterday 23C.
Will try another loaf but sourdough starter still not picked up, think that's what was up with first one as not active enough. Found a recipe that said it should float on water if its ready.

Dear Davina:
I am so sorry to read about the delays and bad news....
     Transisiton
     GIC
     No Electrolysis
Not getting on the GIC List
     Boobs stalling
     Not losing weight
     Lack of energy
     Weather... showers forecast

WOW....  you need to delete all of those bad vibes....

The good news is that your eye color is turning color a desired darker blue now....
and when the new loaf of sourdough bread comes out of the oven, enjoy it slathered with butter and perhaps jelly too... to heck with your diet.

Think good thoughts and good things.....
Thank you for sharing.
HUGS,
Danielle

Yes by all accounts , lots of posts on here saying it happens. I am OK today, just a bit peed of yesterday.
Very windy today (didn't have beans for tea!!) and turning cooler , 18C today. Making good progress on panel van , need some new bits but running out of ££s . Having to be very careful with monies as 80% of wages is not enough , saving on fuel not driving to work and mum has paid for my big food shop . Could be on furlough for months yet, depends when work picks back up. Still wanted to retire !!!so not complaining .

Got on well today but its taking ages to clean all the parts going back on van, 2 lots of over spray and the 90s repaint where nothing was removed or masked mean having to pick paint of bolts, washers and out of crosshead screws. Side door fitted and lined up ,started to polish back paint .
My eldest lad is going to drop off a cheese and jalapeño sourdough loaf he has made and some of his sourdough starter.
Title: Re: Davina's Diary series 2 , the final stage.

Made another loaf and turned out fine, better than last one. Eldest came over and brought bread and starter, hard not to be able to give a hug but as he has to work in random houses it was better to be safe.
Nearly got one side of panel van buffed, got cramp in fingers from rubbing and holding block and wrist sore so see how I get on tomorrow.

Well after 4 days wet flatting and polishing the new paint on panel van totally shattered. Lousy nights sleep as well, to hot and some totally weird dreams again. Posted on FB think I am coming down with furloughitis , its more like ground hog day------
Anyway its Wed so food shop for myself and mum, braving the big supermarket today as run out of spices and chapatti  flour . Called in on mum to pick up here shopping list and my sister turned up at same time so that was nice , not seen her for ages and they are all well . Nieces laundry business has took a hit, she does lots of B&B and hotel washes and of course they have all been closed.

Picked up my new patches from chemist , went in shop next door and they had wholemeal and white bread flour so got both . They only had one of each as well.
Have been fitting doors up on van, pattern door handles not moving far enough to work latch by a few MM so need to make some spacer washers. (censored rant about pattern parts ) well at least I have the skills to do it she said putting down her trumpet!! Its taken me ages to fit glass and stuff getting it all just so.

Life's full of possibility's its just having the breaks to enable them to happen. Personally I have never had enough money to do things at all or properly . Even transitioning I have to wait for what I can get for "free" from NHS (I say free but have been paying for it all my working life 51 years) , I survive but that's about it.

Well its turned cold wet and very windy after that heat wave 15C today brrrrrrrr. Shock to the system after the 28C last weekend . Bonus is much better sleep. Layered up again to work on van, repairing original dash top that was very rusted out using parts from a later style. Lots of panel beating due to totally different shape up to vents , bit that fits to screen is the same .
Made a loaf to sit over night and it didn't rise, will see if it works by tonight as think it was a bit cold.
Got my blood test results , another duff E reading ? very low and not making sense as still on high dose patches . Had this before with same reading then next one was back to "normal" high. Will see what GIC say on 18th.

Woke up late , only myself to please so that's fine just wont get as much done as I wanted (9.35 already) . Getting towards a few big jobs on van I have been putting off, still they wont do themselves .

Summer has started, winter weathers here!! cool wet and windy again. Need to get myself sorted out (I know keep saying this) but my brain is addled , feeling tired after a good nights sleep and lack of "bothered" . Lost my way transitioning ,feel in limbo again and as much as I like living on my own I don't like living on my own .
No good wallowing in self pity , things to do

I'm telling myself that there is someone out there who is always just a third wheel, as I had often been during those years.   And maybe those three wheels would like a 4th to make a fun set.

Not really as engine is "hopped up" a bit, still no ball of fire though . Fitted dash and started sorting electrics for aux battery , gave up as brain not working today.

Saw the lad in flat next door tonight, first day back to work after his Covid . His voice hasn't come back yet and he said totally knackered after work (parcel delivery driver) . Anyway said about needing a GRC (in working clothes) not passing well and he said when I am dressed up I pass no problem . That cheered me up !!
Still having trouble concentrating/ addled brain, trying to tidy up wiring on panel van behind dash and make aux fuse/relay board and its doing my head in. Now that's something I have no trouble with normally but cant think straight, not helped by the fact having to work from 2 wiring diagrams and having to put on reading glasses to see very small letters for colour codes using a different later guide.

Well that was short, video call for GIC. Still sorted stuff out that I and they need to do, as every thing else the surgery list is on hold so will be about a year from getting signatures to GRS once they restart. He said he would put me forward to video voice coaching as well . Leaving patches as is due to low reading last test, he will chase up  on electrolysis funding as well as not received anything from local NHS yet.

I don't know if you're aware, and I'm not sure whether you are NHS or private, but it may be possible for you to self-refer for NHS vocal therapy even if it is considered secondary care. It certainly is for those of us in Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan. They will do it by video link as well!

I'm going to be waiting a long time still to be seen by the GIC, but the wait shouldn't be nearly as long for the vocal therapy. Of course, it will be longer than they told me in January (it already has been) but that's because of Covid 19. They're getting back on the horse now! They originally told me two to four months. - E

  @Davina
Dear Davina:
Yes indeed, working on shrinking the middle one can be quite a difficult task, especially seeing all the good things that you cook and bake....   willpower can be very tough for sure.

Wishing you well with getting your measurements where you want them....

I find it interesting that you posted your measurements in the Imperial (USA) system instead of Metric.
    122,  112,  112  cm

Personally I like the smaller numbers in the imperial system for the measurements....   on the other hand I like the Metric system when I weigh myself:  128 pounds  =  58 Kg

Wishing you well, and thank you for keeping your thread updated for me and the rest of your followers.
HUGS,
Danielle

I think everybody is suffering from some kind of cabin fever:  the people with kids at home, the people without kids at home, adults who have moved back in with their parents and the kids whose parents have moved in with them.  Its a psychiatrists dream.

Davina I am so glad for you that the family is around but not on top of you.  It's nice to have a balance.  My son and I work together three days a week from my home...just enough for both of us.  I am really impressed with your baking skills.  I always loved tea time in England.  Something that never caught on here.  I am not a Starbucks fan.

Thankfully they have allowed restaurants to open in NY but only with outside seating.  Every bar is now a "restaurant"...people can be very clever.  Necessity truly is the mother of invention.

I frankly don't know how you read the automotive electrical schematics, with or without glasses.  I would wind up with a large "planter' in my yard. ;D

Panel van coming together ,mats gone back in cab . Decided not to repaint scratched panel just gave it a good buff so its sort motor next. Still have loads of interior work to do.

Well it was hot yesterday and more of the same but of course that will spark of thunder storms (normal for here) . It was 28C in my flat at 11pm and still 26C at 7am this morning , slept okay though with just a sheet over .
Had a dream I was at a car show , for some reason had a large white US car ! Anyways the point is I had to redo my lipstick and touch up make up --------

She said I didn't look it at all. XXX

After fitting the engine to bus with help from youngest I was totally bushed , still sore today. Its coming together though, have 3 weeks of furlough left . They want everyone back by end of July, knew that would happen as thats when they have to fund 20% of furlough pay . TBH dont want to go back.
Well that gives me 3 weeks to lose enough from my waist to get back into work trousers .

Dear Davina:
I am glad that you are keeping busy and active while on furlough....
... regarding getting back into your work trousers....  3 weeks is plenty of time to lose a good amount of weight... just be focused on the task, watch out for any excesses in your eating ,... and keep active.

OH, how is your wrist and hand that you hurt last year on the job?   Is it OK and fully healed now?

HUGS and best wishes to you.....

Wrist is clunky, have to be careful what I do. Over did it TBH the last couple of days working on bus putting motor back in as that entailed lifting it by hand from engine stand and putting it on trolley  jack. Hand is not the only bit hurting!!

Not looking forward to going back to work, feeling shattered from working on bus so dont know how I will manage with a full manic days work. Tossed a coin to see if I should go back! damn work won .
Panel van coming on, hope to start engine tomorrow and new screen being fitted tomorrow afternoon as well. Looking at getting an industrial grade sewing machine to make seat covers , another skill to learn.

Yes I waste my hard earned taking a punt, best I get is a free go------------
Thought my washing machine had blown a gasket, turns out drain is partly blocked so as pipe from machine goes into a stand pipe it was overflowing in the cupboard where it is . Drain cleaner then .
Cooking today, had some spinach sauce left over from curry and some beef curry that I made that was tough so combined both and left it on hob for an hour on a simmer. Nice and tender now, also made a big batch of mixed veg curry.

Well no rush getting panel van done as shows are all cancelled , not unexpected just waited for confirmation. Run out of money to do interior as I want any ways so chance to save up .
Strange dream , at auto jumble  and worried that my wig was showing and face hair as well . Bought jewellery ---------

A decent nights sleep so feeling better today, its windy as at the moment . Rattling the sash windows and blowing the trees about. Decided its time to retire my short wig, only been using it to work on panel anyway so my old "best" is now my working one. I did wear it to work for the 3 days before furlough.
Thinking about letting my (what I have) hair grow out and just getting a topper ? Have hair all over as some has come back but its so wispy and thin on the crown so don't know . Its the only thing that I am dysphoric about .

bought a small chicken this morning at a reduced price, great a nice curry me thinks so when it was cooked I left it on the ring to reduce sauce. Said I was tired , nodded off and think the burning smell woke me up!!! sauce is reduced alright to a black crust. Still have a recipe for butter chicken made with a tandoori chicken so think that will make it good.

Totally fobared last night after fitting front roof liner to van, you have to fit it concave in roof and then push up so it springs into place . Lost count of the times I had to remove it till shape was right, arms still very sore this morning but at least its done and looks right. "Easy " day today mostly painting door cards and varnishing roof liner .
Knees playing me up as stopped taking fish oil, will start again to see if it works

Just over 3 years of spare time , to start with I only had 3 days off work every 2 weeks. Spanner check tomorrow and then rust proofing then gets parked up till next year so I can save up . Whats left , well seat/bed cushions and covers, front seats need recovering , tap for sink, cooker unit, 2 new rear tyres , oil leak from pushrod tube seal and some tidy up /finish off jobs. Will be going to shows and holidays   depending on funds when I retire end of next March.
I will post some photos when my internet speed is sorted. My next project is my hot rod /street rod (depends on your point of view) so hope I have a few more weeks of furlough to tidy up/sort unit and make a start , luckily there is a lot of chassis and body work (welding) that I should have enough bits for.Now this has been an on and off build for 18 years.

I got one of those Lidl cuff things. It was about 20 quid. I use it every now and again. It was very useful recently when I had to report my blood pressure to the health centre on a form for something in these Covid times.

Mix up at Docs this morning, have to stand outside till fetched by nurse. Half an hour after my appointment time the nurse comes looking for some one else, so what's going on. Well the receptionist that told me to come this morning didn't book it in by the looks of it, nurse squeezed me in though and she printed of my blood test as well . Blood pressure was high but that's not surprizing as I was getting irate !! E level back to where it should be and T is a bit lower than the last few times . All my other FBC and DIFF are bang on the middle of limits as well apart from the one that always high and this time there is a note saying this test is basically the techs best guess!! I do wonder if they do the E test properly as have had a few that are well down and then next time its fine.

Well dearies do I ache or what, been over doing it desperately trying to get the chassis finished. Only a week of furlough left so aiming to get as much done as physically possible.
Some music gigs have started again but TBH not wanting to mingle whilst this bug is still around as in the risk group ,not even happy about having to go back to work with mixing with folk and there cars. Work trousers defiantly not going to fit either only the very battered pair I have been wearing to work down my lockup , 42ins waist and it should be 34----------

Got an email from HR this morning, work have been trying to get hold of me since last Thurs. My mobile has gone over its limit (dont know how as not used it much) so never got any message. Upshot is have to go back from tomorrow , thought it would be this Sat but they wanted me back last Sat!! They didnt try hard enough to get hold of me in my opinion , no land line call/message or email till the one this morning. Good mind to tell them to shove it as the attitude was its my fault.
Good news , tried my work trousers on and they fit !! but I still weigh  the same. They were tight before , fat transfer ??

I remember completing a task early once, and going on to my next task; my manager would then not allow me to take leave for one day at the end of the week. I eventually mentioned the grievance procedure and he backed down immediately.

(It's way, way, way before transitioning, and has nothing to do with that.)

Back to the conveyer belt of car tests, wrist playing me up again after its been fine . Its the push and pull on front suspension that does it, had enough TBH with the company attitude to its workers . Stressed again just one day back.

Oh well resigned to the fact I will be stuck working for next 8 months , just hope it goes quick.
Need to see if I can secure my old wig as it keeps moving over my fore head , elastic straps have lost any elastic . Will have to try hair grips .

All my best,

Back on the Thurs day off , good as it breaks the week up. Wrist giving me grief though, will have to see how it goes and if it gets worse it will be a visit to Docs to see what they say.
Trek this morning to pick up a bottle of welding gas, just hope they have some and they are open to public.

If I say need day off they will just make it my rota day <not allowed> , will try as its medical.
Yes its getting me down again, so fed up working my socks off for poor pay . Rant over , off to do what I can on hot rod and hopefully cheer my self up a bit.

Well tough I am going , lets see what Doc thinks. Just cant do this work any more as its to painful on wrist. Trouble is I dont think they believe how bad it is, total numb hand with pins and needles .

Have managed to loose a few LBs , eating more veg and dahl . TMI but recon it helps you loose weight as it doesn't stay in your system long.
Will have to see if I can sell some clocks and things I made just to pay for some bits for hot rod, lost a weeks pay already and if on sick pay will be totally skint .

Hi Davina, glad you're losing weight. As a vegetarian I found I could eat a lot more because these foods are bulky and have a lower calorie density. That said, as I've aged I now have to eat less anyway. Good luck healing, I hope it goes quickly!

Cutting a thread in a pipe yesterday (18mm) for suspension and slipped, ouch as I smashed into my left boob !!!Good job I was between patches or it would have been worse.
Wrist report, still numbness in fingers and slight pins and needles and hand still slightly clenched. Recon its buggered this time, taking things easy working on rod. Not doing any harm to it working gentle ,need to keep moving it or it will get worse .  Veg diet seems to be working, did have a beef burger with lots of veg for tea last night . Tuna salad for lunch today .
Time to get mucky I suppose, tidy up time this morning sweeping up all the grinder dust.

Off to see mum and then do a bit more on rod , waiting for new bits to come and need to order some joints to finish suspension arms . Day off tomorrow seeing doc hopefully , will have to post some up for sale stuff.

Blood readings high, trouble is I can never sit and relax as my brain goes off on one!! best reading so far is 138/86 . Its always lower at evening .
Off to do some gentle work on hot rod, have to drill some 80mm holes in 4mm sheet steel . That's going to give my 2nd world war American pillar drill  a work out!!!!!

Had a cooking afternoon yesterday,  needed to use up some yogurt so made a keema , that's Indian mince and peas that can be used as samosa filling or eaten with roti. I like to make a shepherds pie with it so froze 2 batches. Pork joint reduced  1/3 off so made a pork and green lentil curry then to use up yogurt made some southern Indian veg curry, that's some small cubed boiled veg with a coconut and yogurt dressing with spiced oil added. Can be eaten at room temp so put some in my lunch box with a few mini scotch eggs .
Got mucked about getting my patches as they needed blood pressure readings , spoke to doc and he said they would think about more than 1 months supply next time . He did say meds to reduce my blood pressure but I would rather do it by diet .

Dear Davina:
I enjoyed reading your update today.....

Hopefully you will be able to get your blood pressure under control....   way too low blood pressure and way too high blood pressure is not a good thing.

I love Shepherds Pie....   I make it with Ground Beef but I know that some cooks make it with Lamb... but either way it is a great One-Dish meal.

I had to look-up to find out about mini-scotch-eggs  They look very good, I will have to try making them.

Aren't those full-size scotch eggs?

I think with mini-scotch eggs you mash up the hard-boiled eggs to make them small enough, and you use something to bind the pieces (Mayonaisse possibly).

I could be wrong though; I'm not much of a cook!

To be correct, shepherds pie has to be made with minced lamb, if minced beef is used it is a cottage pie  :D

If life doesn't deal you enough problems, your computer certainly will!!!

Have you tried cleaning your browser history website data and perhaps deleting it all... and starting over? ...plus there could be registry errors in your Windows 10 now because of your update.

Over did it with my wrist yesterday, felt fine till I got home . Taking it easy today and having a rest on Monday as its a holiday so dont want to make a lot of noise in my lockup. More expense I could do without, front spring has broken on my motor. Will do it myself but cost of spring would be a weeks food shop , getting less than 1/2 pay on sick pay so every penny has to count.

Didn't post as it would look like a moan but things are not turning out well at the moment. Must be the full moon!! anyway front spring broke on car and found annual test has run out , trouble getting spring but it should turn up this morning at double the price . Need to put in a claim for benefit payment , spent an afternoon looking for my identity   number and its no where to be found. Rang up to get a new one and have to wait for a call back this morning at 10 am.
Wrist still bad of course , just doing mundane things catches me out like opening doors or picking up a cup. Getting pins and needles in fingers now from typing.
On the plus side I have lost a couple more LBs ,212 and need to be 168 so still have to shift 40-------

Fitted the new spring to motor, killed me physically !! Doing it on a jack kneeling on floor , totally done in last night . Got my security number, they didnt call me at 10 am and got a missed call on my mobile to say whoops should have called. Still they called back and its sorted, then left my phone and the number at my unit. Damn my dyslexic forgetful brain. Car booked in for test tomorrow , given it a good look over and should be okay.
Missed call from Docs as well, they want me to have an appointment so that a trainee can get some experience with a transgender patient  . Called them back but receptionist had no knowledge of call and didn't have my phone to check message.

Missed out on Docs trainee session , all the slots had gone but first reserve . Time to get my rear in gear, sluggish this morning . Suppose thats what you get for coming out your shell ------------

Put a muscle out in my back/right hip area  , its one that plays up from old damage. Lifting and twisting on Sun putting panels in place by myself on the rod is what did it. Better this morning .
Sept weather is here, cold in morning and sweating in afternoon!! Temp all over the place like 16C the other day and 22C today , at least its mostly dry.

Still here dears, life stumbles on. Need some time off the hot rod to refresh I think , just have to get some enthusiasm back as its turned into a "job" . Might have sold the race car so giving it a sort out , getting puncture in slick fixed, charging battery   and a clean from 4 years of dust.
Missing my friends, staying "safe" though as I do suffer from slight asthma/allergy that affects my chest and makes it go "tight" . All the grinding and welding fumes have not helped .
Getting bored with every thing , same old I suppose so might try making some more clocks / lights and things

Dear Davina:
Hang in there Davina, it is quite an unwelcome change when enthusiasm, passion and a hobby turns into hard work, and a job to be done.

I understand about missing the social times with friends... the good news is that in this day and age we have the internet, email, facetime, etc which allows us to stay in touch and to keep ourselves occupied in a positive and encouraging way.    Certainly being able to be on the Forums here is wonderful thing that allows us to "be in communication" with like-minded friends and members here.

Take care of yourself, I hope that you are careful and let your hand and wrist to heal.

Thank you for sharing and posting.
HUGS HUGS HUGS,
Danielle

Dear Davina:
Without internet, and without the forums....  terrible punishment for sure.
Many times when things act up with your computer/internet .... the first thing to try is to completely Power Down your computer.  Also disconnecting the power to the internet Modem for a few minutes is a good thing to do as well.

Completely rebooting both of those will many times solve internet connection issues.

Danielle

Have a few days rest from working on hot rod, made some coat racks yesterday using VW engine lid handles and another using early beetle inner door handles. Coffee/side table made from a rank zerox tray . Now just need to take pics and post to try and sell, this mornings job as have a phone call from social this afternoon.
