Support needed for GenderGP in the UK
« on: May 19, 2019, 10:07:55 am »
Apologies if this is the wrong place or it's already been posted.

Dr Mike Webberley of GenderGP was summoned in front of the GMC on Thursday and they decided to temporarily suspend his medical license. Consequently the service has moved out of the UK. I've had assurances from GenderGP that the services will continue which is a really big relief. I personally feel this is the GMC trying to constrain gender services. The service I've had from GenderGP has been really good, thorough, professional and got things moving quickly along with getting a Shared Care Agreement in place with my GP.

If this seemingly discriminatory attack gains ground then the alterantives for many will be either going through the NHS, who take forever, or going un-prescribed or stopping the journey. All of these options have big potential problems depending where individuals are in their life.

And lastly, please cascade this wherever we can get support

I was very sad (but hardly surprised as it was only a matter of when) to hear of the events of last Thursday May 16th.

The decision to suspend his medical license is an impulsive and lamentable event. I truly hope it is temporary and GMC clear his name completely.

I have always received an excellent professional allround service from Mike and from GenderGP as a whole.

Hugs

Pamela
