I don't know about in the U.K., but in Ontario doctors are required by law to refer when they refuse to do something for religious beliefs.

Usually that type of doctors are no good anyway.

As I'm sure you know here in UK Boris replaced Theresa as PM on July 24th.

It will be interesting to see his views on LGBT matters over the next year or so; too early to judge yet of course. I am hoping like Theresa he remains understanding and accepting and in favour of diversity.

Brexit might be an even better indicator. The vast majority of LGBT, and in particular trans, rights were forced upon the UK governments by the EU / the ECJ, or at least protected by them.

Back in 2011 the Conservative government had already spoken of removing some protections under the Equality Act 2010 on the basis of removing red tape.

Of course, its also the conservatives who, without EU intervention, started at least looking at self ID so maybe we will be supported

What I read is that his position at the helm of the UK might be very short lived (less time than May), and that it is very likely that you guys have to go vote again.  Predictions seem to be that Labor might be the winner of a new election, and you guys go back into the EU again (or never leave them).

I wish for you that he will not try to be a mini Trump, and turn the wheels back for half a century!

He has kicked the GRA consultation into the long grass within a day of becoming PM. He has invited a well known transphobe journalist into the cabinet as an advisor. He also appointed a social media advisor who called Tommy Robinson (leader of the far right in the UK) a 'hero'. Not to mention he has a history of making anti-LGBT comments.


Considering his past record and his best pal Rees-Mogg who takes all his moral guidance from the Catholic church - and considering the misinterpretation of the Bible used by the Vatican to condemn transgender people...

I think we can fear the worse unless he is removed in an early election.

I found this "doctor's" quote quite funny and very ironic.

“If something like that happened in a church setting — people being pulled out of a pew, questioned, and then excommunicated — that would be seen as an outrageous example of religious intolerance and bigotry.”
(For the record that happens ALL the time in churches.)

The so called doctor said that quote then went on to talk about how <not allowed> isn't real, it's a mental delusion, and goes against God, so he's not going to give his patients the respect they deserve.

Jeesh what a hypocrite. I thought this stuff only happened in the U.S.
