Have you ever changed or highlighted your hair color or wanted to do so?

Did you do this by going to a hair salon professional or did you do this yourself or did you have a friend do this for you?

Did you do this by buying a wig?

How did it turn out?  Did you decide to go back to your own color, keep the new color, or are you continuing to try out various colors?

Did you ever try a hair color that you would love to have but it ended up not looking good on you?

I once had wishes to dye my hair blonde and ginger red (mine is black naturally.) My initial plan was to have a literal half-half split, then to go blonde with red highlights, and then I just sort of dropped it altogether.

I'm honestly not sure if anything besides black would suit me, and with all that bleach I'd be worried about damaging what I have.

As my natural colour appears to have become grey I certainly dye my hair! Initially I went for dark with blonde highlights then gradually increased the blonde but I’ve since swapped out the blonde for copper and it’s definitely the real  me!!
Ps my hairdresser was the second person I told about my transition plans and we started to work on my hair from that day on! My hair transitioning from short to feminine

Only a few times as a guy, i started going grey at 18. Been blonde, red, black, brown, red, brown, blonde, black, brown, red, blonde and now ash blonde my natural colour, had red & blonde streaks a few times. One of my favourite red colours was a black cherry which matched my boyfriends 68 Mercury Cougar

Mine's red anyway, but darker when it's short.  Probably the best thing about all this is getting to let my hair grow out again.  I miss that red.  I'd show you a pic, but what do people use for uploading pictures anymore?   I used to use imageshack, but that was ages ago.  Off the subject, but it got me wondering.

It is nice that we have these options for our hair.  I like my natural color, although it was fun to go with some colorful highlights.

Sometimes I do wonder what I’d look like with different colored hair.
Certainly not as pretty as _________ (many others here!)

I will not mention any names as I will not be able to make a definitive or exhaustive list, even if that list was limited to members.

I went to a salon for the third time...ever. The first time was a complete disaster..too long a story to share here.
I always ask for the same color and style. I get my hair done with a few highlights and some grey removed in the very front along the edges and also a trim. Since I never get much cut on the length, I’ve had much longer hair after each visit so the styles differ a bit.

The last two times I had it done by the same stylist and I think my hair turned out ok relative to the first experience..lol I was happy with it.

My wife and I tried dying my hair shortly before my second visit to a salon. The color was called Warm Blonde and the woman in the cover of the box had hair the exact same color as what you see in my posted images. Sadly, after rinsing everything out, my hair had turned to a dark red auburn color...haha! It looked horrible. I called my wife’s salon, got in fast and she fixed everything perfectly in a few hours.  I was so thankful. She’s now my stylist..LOL

Here are some pics of what I had done two days ago...highlights and a trim.

I looked like this after getting home from the salon.

Later, I restyled it a little for easier maintenance.

Currently i’m a redhead and it really works for me! I tried blonde but it just wasn’t me!
I do have blonde streaks in the red though. As I’ve said a few times on SP, my hairdresser is also a friend and confidant and I have completely ceded my hair colour and style to her

I had my first white hairs when I was in high school, so I started coloring my hair in my thirties, but quit a fifty. At that point, I was mostly silver and it's a shiny, swingy, silky silver, so I'm grateful for it. I look at the dry, brittle hair of women who've been coloring for years and think they'd like the possible shine-and-silk-upgrade if they quit.

I am SO NOT ready for grey hair - even if I called it silver!

Well not got any Grey yet at 53, but i have in my youth had blonde streaks, and used sun in many many times :)
This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
