Topic: Gender therapist townsville/queensland

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here, I’ve recently come out to my partner about having questions about my gender.  I don’t know what label I’d put on my feelings but I guess I’d fall somewhere into the non binary category, but labels are not important to me at this point.  My partner has been very supportive and I feel so lucky to have him by my side.

I’m looking for a gender therapist in the Townsville area or someone I could even do Skype sessions with if they are not local.  It would seem the only local option is the sexual health clinic here, I have contacted them but the wait time is over 2 months to get my first session.  I have been here approx 4 years ago and I didn’t get a great vibe, this may have been the fact that at the time I was single, I didn’t have the support I have now, I had a lot going on at the time and I just wasn’t in a good place to talk about this so I’m going in with an open mind in hope that this time things will be different.

If anyone has and recommended therapist that would be great, even better if that can bulk bill but if not I’ll find a way to made it work if things feel right with them.

Also, we have an Introductions forum where, if you wish, you can tell us a little about yourself.

Since I am in the US, I have little knowledge in what is happening in Australia. One thing I do know is that sometimes first impressions are not accurate. Since you have a local clinic, why not just give them a try and see how it goes. Here in the US getting a first appointment sooner than 2 months is not that common. Who knows? You might just really like the local clinic.
