Michigan school leaders are applauding new guidance from the U.S. Department of Education extending federal sex protections to transgender and gay students.

The directive from the Biden administration means that discrimination based on a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation will be treated as a violation of Title IX.

Public schools must protect all students – including those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender – from harassment and other sex discrimination.
“When you’re ready, start living your truth. That’s when the magic happens.”
