Hi everyone and thank you all, today marks my 1 week anniversary..... Woo Hoo
My surgery almost did not happen, I was in pre op, had my iv in and everything signed and ready to roll, a delayed blood work came back and my potassium level was 6.1, they want it no more than 5.6, being that high could cause a heart attack, I do not need another one of those, I was wheeled back to a staging area and was given 500ml saline, at the hour it was retested and it only came down to 6.0, Dr. Mcginn told me we could try again Wednesday but if the potassium level was still high my surgery would be canceled, she was taking a second person for her surgery first and I asked if they would try more saline, she agreed, I was given another 800ml, they retested it at noon and my level was exactly 5.6, she agreed to operate and I was taken back to preop, I had to wait there awhile while the operating room was prepared again, Dr. Mcginn came in and as usual asked again if I still wanted this as it is elective surgery, I said yes and she said we both know it is not. Iwas wheeled to the or, slid on the operating table, I was given a shot, looked down to see the yellow and black stirrups, that was all I remember till I woke up at 6pm, my first thoughts were that I am finally complete, Dr. Mcginn came over and told me everything went well and that I did fine.
I was released from the hospital on Friday the 13th, it is going to be a lucky day for me from now on, currently I am at the bread and breakfast, I only get up to go to the bathroom then back to bed, tomorrow I get the catheter and packing removed an the guided tour of my new anatomy, then shown how to dilate. Tomorrow our very own Suigeniris is going to visit after her 3 month checkup,
