I think I remember someone else reporting this as well but my labia major have been pretty swelled and big for a while now. I'm 3 months post-op now and my surgeon said some of it may just be extra fat but wow, its to the point that if I'm walking naked I feel like I have to waddle some.

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and/or if it went away over time? I imagine if it's merely swelling , it will go down more at some point....but if its truly extra fat....will it eventually redistribute somehow? It would be nice if the labia was slightly more hangy skin than globby bumps, I think. ;)

I think over time it eventually settles.  At nine months I'm still swollen, but considerably less than last month and the month(s) before that.  Everyone is different--I work out extensively and I think that contributes to some of the swelling I have.  But I'd rather have a little swelling than a little fat around other parts of my body

Let me just add something here.  I've been keeping a photolog of my progress since the day I had the packing removed.  I was taking photos each week for up to six months and then moved to monthly photos.  I took high res shots from all angles and I'm so glad that I did this.  When I took my ninth month shot, I was totally blow away at the amount of detail I had developed at the entrance to my vagina.  It's truly amazing that, as the months go by--especially around the nine month mark--as to how much detail begins to develop.  It's almost as though everything begins to speed up.  You're still so early in your healing, please give it time.  Everything will work out fine.  I too was really worried about the swelling, even at six and eight months.

Re: Joyce

We're almost the same age...   I was very swollen at 2 months and in the last month, it's dropped down to a more normal look.  I was told that recovery takes a year and it can take that long for the swelling to subside.

I think it's being very impatient for either of us to think that we can look very normal at all at this point.  Go back and look at a video of this surgery and its amazing we can do much of anything after "only 3 months" of healing.

I never expected to look this good at 3 months.  I'm feeling extremely lucky that I can sit down indiscriminately without a cushion.

I'd say, "don't worry, be happy".
