That's what reportedly happened to one trans person in the U.S. According to
passportmagazine.com, the TSA fired Ashley Yang for refusing to present as a male at work. That is, until the Transgender Law Center heard of her case, and filed a complaint on her behalf. You can read more about it at the link provided, and watch a video.
The case illustrates something I wondered about in a recent post, Bringing Trangenderism Out of the Closet. How are employers going to deal with transgender people, that is, people who don't plan to fully transition but present opposite to their birth gender? In TSA's case, not very well, apparently. But as part of the settlement, TSA was ordered to undergo training about transgender employees.
