So, my wife has said I'm free to seek intimacy, shall we say, with others now that we will be divorcing, and I'm curious about dive bars.

Anyone (Kat, I'm sure you could write a thesis about this) have any info on queer dive bars in SF? Are there any recommendations? Any places that I should avoid like the plague?

Are the any etiquette pointers I need? I was married at 19, I'm 41 now, and I've never done the singles bar, hook-ups, or picked up anyone before.

If you do this before the divorce is final, your wife "might" use it against you (I don't care that she said it was alright, that won't mean anything if the divorce turns nasty).  I would recommend you wait.
Nameless here for evermore!;  Merely this, and nothing more;
Tis the wind and nothing more!;  Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore!!"

Aunt Charlie's in the Tenderloin, El Rio on Mission at Chavez, Marlane's in Hayes' Valley.  Though its not really a dive, it's a very nice place.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

concur with this...would also add that verbal agreements during a pending divorce are not worth the paper they are(n't) written on.  Divorce proceedings get ugly and contentious on a very regular basis...and you can bet that anything NOT reduced to writing WILL be used to try and increase her share of the asset splits and/or alimony payments.
