Question about getting t?

so i've had my top surgery. Its been a year now and i have a letter from my doctor saying i have had gender reconstructive surgery and that i fit all the qualifications and that i live full time as male. Do you think that is enough for me to get a prescription for testosterone or will i still need to go to therapy to get another letter?

Where are you located?

I know in the US most of the time it's RLE, T, then top surgery - though that's only loose and I know several people who have switched the order of that around.

I know most doctors in the US require a letter from your therapist to get top surgery, so if you had to go through that, you should be able to get your therapist to write you a T letter. If you were able to skip the therapist, you may be able to find an informed consent doctor somewhere around you, so you can continue to bypass therapy. Otherwise, if you can't find an informed consent doctor, you'll most likely have to go through a therapist to get your T letter.

I am in north eastern Ohio. I got my surgery done by Dr. Sherman Leis in Philadelphia. He does not require a letter. I went to therapy several years ago but it just didnt seem right. idk maybe it was my therapist. I've already looked up some endos in my area...maybe i will just call them and see what they have to say. Cuz i do have a letter from Dr. Leis confirming my surgery and that i'm male.

Personally, I never had to have a therapist's letter to get hormones. I went to a trans-friendly doctor, told her I wanted T, and based upon the fact I'd been full-time for over a year, she ran a few medical tests, got the results back, and put me on T right away.

I have a feeling if you see a doctor who deals typically with trans issues, it should be easy enough for them to prescribe the hormones simply based on the fact you've been living as a male for so long (or so I assume). Of course, I was in California when I was first prescribed T, and I know Ohio can be far more conservative at times (I was born there, and considering it's one of only 4 states where you can't legally change the sex on your birth certificate, it's gotta be pretty messed up).
