I recently turned 17 and going to be a senior, but I get mistaken as a 12-13ish year old constantly.
I dread the haircutters because they always cut my hair like a little kid, #3 guard is what I always ask, so they use it on the sides and then assume scissors on the top and leave my bangs super long.  Like a typical haircutter, they make small talk by asking me how old I am, if I'm excited for summer, what grade I am in...ect. And then get surprised when I tell them that I'm a senior, which gives me away as to being female bodied.  :icon_anger:
On top of that, they ask my mom for permission/ is it ok that I want them to use clippers when my hair gets long.
What would you guys do in this situation/ what do you usually ask if you are getting a short hair cut?

I would tell them I was 12 or 13. I wouldn't let them assume anything.  I would tell them exactly what I wanted,  even show a picture.

I agree with Sharky about bringing a picture and telling them exactly what you want; don't be shy, it's your hair and their job is to make you happy and look good. When they ask how you like it so far just speak up and say "I'd like the bangs shorter, please" or whatever it is.

It might also help if you go by yourself, instead of with your mom. I'm always mistaken for a 14 year old when I'm with my parents.
