My mom is debating getting it and I'm thinking about offering to pay some of the cost but before-hand I wanted to hear if any of you had experience with it. If so, positive or negative? Also did it help you lose any chest fat? I was about a B/small C before I gained all of my weight and I'm hoping to lose some of that fat if it is fat and not chest tissue.

Thanks :)

Linus

I've gotten it but just not done it yet. I do know, however, quite a few trans who have had great success.

I have it, but you have to be in really good shape to even attempt it, it's not for weight loss, it's for physically fit people to gain muscle.  I'm in fairly good shape, run 3-5x a week, have 17% body fat, and lift weights 3x a week, and most of DVD's in that program kick my ass and make me sore for days.  It's taken a long time to be able to do even Ab Ripper X to completion without hitting the pause button.   It's definitely one of those 'get in shape' first type of deals, you could really injure yourself if you're not used to intense exercise with P90X.

I had it and I tried it, but I wasn't physically fit enough to do it properly.  I did it once, but was unable to move much for a few days because my abs were in a world of hurt.  Once I get into better shape, I'm going to attempt it again.

I did it for a while, but haven't done it recently. I have to disagree with the others saying you HAVE to be in shape to use it. I'm an out of shape asthmatic, and I was perfectly fine. The whole point of the vids is to do what you can and don't feel bad if you can't do everything. I definitely couldn't do everything they did, but I still got results from it, and I enjoyed it a lot. The exercises kick your butt, but in a strangely fun way.

Thanks guys :) I'm glad to hear it's had an overall positive effect.

For those worried about using it for weightloss, thank you :) but, I know a good number of people who have used it for weightloss so I'm not too worried there. Those people are the reason my mom is interested in it to be honest. They say the say as Espenoah: That you won't be able to do it in it's entirety but that you do what you can of it.

Jake: No worries man I'll just be doing what I can and know I can handle at first which will probably mean lots of pausing, tons of water, and not entirely completing the stuff at first. I life weights 5x a week and walk/am on my feet with little break for over 10 hours a day. I'm not in the best shape but am well enough to keep up with Billy Blanks Bootcamp. I'm looking for something to kick my butt.

Have you tried it yet?

I started it yesterday and it was really tough. The Chest and Back wasn't so bad but the Ab Ripper was too much hahahah I couldn't do much from that video so am doing only the ones I can plus sit ups and crunches until I am more comfortable with it.

You only have to be in really good shape to begin with if you are following the people with their weights and reps, and without chairs for pull ups. Even if it kicks your ass at least you're trying to push yourself.

And it is for weight loss too and there is the 'lean' program with it.

I actually looked through the videos but don't have the right supplies for it yet like the pull up bar. Gonna get it this month and hopefully try again. Just gotta pray I can find a door bar that will hold all 210 of my weight.

If you have not already Andrew, read up on door frame pull up bars.  I have one and lived in 4 difference places since I bought it.  Have not found a door frame yet what will work with it.  I ended up buying the pull-up/dip bar from Sports Authority when it was on sale for about 129.00.  Love it!  But I know everybody does not have a ton of room for one of these.  Just hate to see you buy it and not be able to use it because your door frames don't have enough room between frame and the nearest wall or the frame has wood around it that may crack, etc.

Also, as stated above, you only need to be in decent shape for P-90x.  It will work you, but it is worth every minute of it.  After about 3 weeks I was a lot faster and not nearly as tired when playing goalie.  I am currently at the start of Insanity and it makes P-90x look like a joke.  It's a 60-day workout versus 90 and requires no equipment, but it is way more intense.

The Iron Gym bar is awesome and can support up to 300 lbs. I got mine for $25 at Target, and was about 240 when I started using it. Also, despite my fears, it never did any damage to any door frame I put it on.

That's the one I have.  I'm a little under 200 and haven't had any problems with my door frame either.
Just measure and you should be fine.

I have one of those but my door frame at the top is too thin? so the bar can't rest properly on it. I wedged it in and use that way but it really isn't safe enough. So I'm getting 2 j brackets to put above the door frame to help.

The Iron gym works well for doing push ups too...at three different hand spacings....P9OX  is okay but real hardcore gym work and a good diet cannot be beaten.

Well I technically have to take it easy with workouts so I like doing them at home and with videos so I can go at my own pace with lots of breaks. This one makes me 'feel' like it's hardcore but really I am doing it lightly because I have to.

I started using it while I was living in Cambodia and could not use a pull up bar there, I used the tubing and it works just fine. So a pull up bar is not necessary. I have done most of the program and different parts at various times. I say most because I did not do the Yoga, am not a Yoga person never will be and am fine with that. When I do use it now it is just to give myself other workouts to do, kind of mix stuff up when I am bored I really like plyometrics so I like that video. I know some people do it several times and mix it up. I think if it is what will get you motivated to get in shape go for it. Everyone needs something different to take that first step to a healthier person.
Good Luck
