Stephanie Mott vividly recalls her first public appearance as a woman.

She had hid the women's clothing she purchased at a thrift store behind the seat of her pickup truck and changed into them in the church bathroom before the service started.

After all, she couldn't very well have put them on at the men's halfway house where she was living at the time.
