"I told my mother my life would have been better if I was born a girl," she says.
"She didn't blame me, but she said, 'Don't tell anybody at school. People are going to pick on you.' That's when I began to realize it wasn't socially acceptable to do those things, and from that point on, I tried as hard as possible to repress my feelings."
