I've heard some people say that shaving off the facial peach fuzz all people have can help you pass better as a young male, or improve your technique for when the time really comes.

So, how many guys here do/have shave(d) before starting T? Do you do it to pass better, or just because it's therapeutic?

Also, did anyone find that shaving helped 'toughen up' your skin after a while? I tried once with an electric razor and my face felt burned afterwards..  :-\ I have really dry, pale, sensitive skin though.

I've been shaving since I was 16ish.  It doesn't seem like my skin has gotten any different, but there are some things I've found to help.  I'm a big fan of the Barbasol shaving cream for sensitive skin (and it's really cheap).  Also regular razors seem to work better (shave smoother/burn less) than electric ones for me, but that might depend on what kind you use.  Remember to use a light touch too, as it doesn't really take much force to take off the hair.  I always use witch hazel on my face after I shave to help with both any unpleasant feeling from shaving and acne, but really any aftershave-type thing would help if you end up getting shaving bumps.
Good luck  :)

I shaved once every other week pre-T. It didn't really do anything, but I liked the feeling when I rubbed my face. My skin didn't toughen up or anything. The oils in the shaving soap did make me a bit more pimpley which wasn't so good.

I've had to shave my face since middle school since I have dark hair. It looks really bad if I dont. Sometimes I enjoy it, most of the time it's just another thing I have to do. My face feels softer after shaving. I just use a cheap Bic.  I prefer cream over gel.

I tried shaving mine before. You couldn't really see a difference but you could feel one. I felt like it made my face break out though so I stopped doing it.
Every day brings me one step closer to being myself.

I love shaving.
I've shaved my face for quite a few yaears now because I have a dark "womanstache" (which...I hate the term, but it's what sort of fits).
Every time I shave, I obsessively feel my face because it's so nice and smooth.
And then to feel stubble coming in...I'm like "yes!"
Maybe I'm weird, though.

Pre T I shaved just because it made me feel good, it didn't look any different or anything.

This.  Once starting T I didn't want to because I didn't want to shave my hairs off.

I tried it once, didn't like it, I felt so naked without my peach fuzz 'stache and side burns... It made me feel like my face looked girlier somehow, and that wasn't nice.

I actually have long, coarse, black hairs in my beard area, so I have to shave regularly (roughly every three days) as it is.  They're too sparsely set to help me pass, but once I start T that might change and if it does, I might well stop shaving.

I have to shave every other day ... if I don't my wife complains ... it comes in and looks like a 5'o'clock shadow

Maybe it's just me, but it feels weird to shave something that's not there. I want to have the experience, yes, but now is not my time.

I figure shaving before you grow any hair is a good idea. You'll get used to doing it, and when little scraggly hairs start awkwardly growing in if/when you start taking T, you'll already be in the habit of shaving them off until you can grow a more full beard to trim. It is weird, but personally, I hate having peach fuzz on my face anyway. Mine's not thick or dark, but it's considerably long and I hate it. So I'd rather just get rid of it.

I'm pre-T, and I've only been shaving about once a week for a month or so. I don't think it helps me pass, I just like feeling smooth and feeling peach fuzz stubble. It's a trade off for me though, because I had a little bit of upper lip hair to begin with, which I saw as a good thing. Oh well.

I'm not on any hrt but have always had higher T levels. I don't really get the mustache going on but I get the annoying sides of chin and under chin random stubble. I just shave it off once a week. Occasionally I'll shave off the side fuzz for the heck of it.

I'm pre-T but I have quite pale skin and dark hair, so my facial hair stands out a lot. I shave the sideburns and also moustache and chin.  Since I started shaving, which has been for about 6 months, it's got a lot coarser and grows back in a few days.  It feels really itchy when it starts growing back though! The one thing I'm dreading about T is getting itchy beard growing back, so I think I'll have to grow a proper bear beard when I start!

I'm an inconsistent twit, so I tend to just shave whenever I feel like it. >.> I'm pre-T as well; I tend to shave at least once every 2-3 days. It feels itchy otherwise. XD

I don't know if it helps me pass or not, or if there's any difference. I just like it, and it's not doing me any harm, so I'm going to keep doing it (until I'm on T and possibly want a beard, lol).

I'm pre-T and have a sort of dark peach fuzz mustache that I don't shave. It sort of helps me pass I guess, but since I'm so pale I think it mostly looks weird. I wont shave it though until I start T.

Other than that I have these random dark hairs that grow on my face (around my side burns, around my chin, etc.) but I don't shave these either because they're so patchy. Instead I just pull them out with tweezers. When I start T and my family becomes more comfortable with me and sees me more fully as male I think me shaving my face will be easier on them.

I've been on T for 4 months and I have a fair amount of bumfluff growing on and under my chin. I use a Gillette razor and get rid of it every couple of weeks to encourage new hairs to grow in darker. I don't know whether it works or not really, but it seems to. My facial hair is very fine and blonde apart from the darker hairs I've grown since I've been on T, so I need to get rid of the peach fuzz now and then too.
