I came out to my co-worker yesterday. I work in the library at my University. It was just me and her working in the evening for a few hours prior to closing. We have a fairly large LGBT community here, so I shouldn't have any problems. I'm not sure whether any of my other co-workers suspect or not. I think a couple of them started to suspect recently or may have connected the dots and figured out that I'm a transwoman. I'm still largely, mistakenly gendered male, but that does seem to be slowly changing. I think a few of them think I'm a gay man because I've mentioned that I date men and am, of course, more feminine in my gender expression. Another co-worker recently started avoiding pronoun usage altogether with me, which suggests that she knows but isn't sure what pronouns I prefer. She hasn't asked, though. The coworker I came out to is really nice and she seemed like she would definitely be supportive and not have a problem with it. I don't think any of my co-workers will really have a problem, at least not to my face. She asked a lot of questions, which I have no problem answering as long as people ask them in a respectful manner, which she did. I would rather have people ask questions and learn and understand than to remain ignorant out of fear of offending me.

the library at my University

Libraries at Universities are pretty much the most open, liberal and intelligent places on the planet.  'Twas ever thus.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
