Denny's Restaurant announced it is allowing customers to use bathrooms consistent with their gender identities.

The new policy at Denny's comes after a lawsuit filed against the chain's owner. A transgendered woman sued the company in 2009 after the was told she couldn't use the women's restroom at an Auburn Denny's.

Under the agreement, transgendered customers will now be allowed to use their bathroom of choice at all six of the Denny's restaurants in Maine. Denny's announced the change in policy on Monday.
