There was an "any singers?" thread in the FtM forum so... what about the girls :)

I like to sing, though I have some trouble improving it significantly beyond the current state. If any of your girls sing, some advice would be nice!
I want to take some singing lessons too, but I'm not sure if they specifically teach a male voice to sound female...

Here are some samples of my singing, I know they don't sound the best (especially the higher notes, since I've mostly focussed on sounding female in the lower range) but well...
(sorry neither of these are English, not many English songs suit my voice / appeal to me)

PS I'll take these samples off in a few days...

My ADSL "broad band" is too "narrow" loading clips for ever, so I can say.

I still love to sing but by now my voice is shot, mostly due to age.

It's good enough for my daily chores but no more enjoyable to listen to. (only sing in the car on my own)

I also played the guitar --- same issue there to :-) ... and can't ply THAT in the car.

You sound pretty good, Apple Pie.
Both of those songs hit a Bb. That's a pretty good range.

Hey Axelle! Those two clips should load pretty quickly actually, because there are no actual video images, just my voice (the original files were just 635 KiB and 3.89 MiB respectively)!

Renate, thanks! Actually both do reach C (one C in the first one and one C per stanza in the second), and C5 is my effective sustainable upper limit during singing at the moment. I can do quite a few notes higher still but I can only do a few of those in each song, and they not only sound absolutely terrible but also strain my voice (not to mention I always feel like I don't quite have enough power in my lungs to push the notes out), so I generally keep it lower for more control (that's why I lowered the second song by three semitones before singing it, as it originally reached E♭5)... Anyway, I am more keen to make it sound better at the moment while keeping that range, so any advice would be welcome :)
