Transgendered Calgarian wins breast implant contest

Three-quarters of votes were in her favour

When the winner of the Breast Summer Contest Ever was finally announced, the attacks of even one of the harshest critics were blunted.

But the winner announced Wednesday was Avery Mitchell, a transgendered contestant in the process of transforming into a woman.

She earned a whopping 76 per cent of the more than 30,000 online votes drawn by the contest that was dreamed up by AMP Radio 90.3.

The winner of the Amp Radio contest, named by the station only as a musician called Avery, tallied 76 per cent of 30,000 online votes.

In an interview with the radio station, Avery said she is transitioning from a male to a female and having breast implants would mean she wouldn't "have to face so much bigotry on a daily basis."

CALGARY – The winner of a controversial radio contest has been chosen and some are pleased to hear that it went to a deserving person.

Avery has won 90.3 Amp Radio's Breast Summer Ever contest.

What gave Avery the edge to win? He is transgendered.

And Global Winnipeg wins the "Crassest Use of the Inappropriate Pronoun" competition, eh?

I shook my head at this story before - but I'm shaking it at the idea of a "best breast implants" competition in the first place, but then I'm someone who lives in a culture where breast implants are still not that common.

Perhaps one day we'll be seeing a Ms Vaginoplasty competition too (in which I naturally hope to compete: "My new vagina supports gay marriage, and wishes for World Peace...") .

Now that's what I call "stuffing" the ballot box! To be honest, I voted for Avery three times!

Well, I won't admit to any wrong doing....but I may have voted several hundred times or a may have only voted once. But she really deserves it, I mean hopefully, with some breasts to boost her confidence all she needs is to use a feminine voice to be able to pass.

I wish Avery the best of luck, I hope this helps her on her journey.
