There is a need for us to separate and form a new umbrella, to separate from the LGB that were an ally in the 1960′s at Stonewall, but they are not there in 2011 when we are fighting to have the DSM-5 amended to try and get the DSM-5 to treat us fairly and humanely. Remaining a part of a larger group only serves to reduce our impact, I feel that this is a sell out, if it weakens our efforts at fair human rights... 

For me there is nothing worse than to be seen as a member of a group of people that do not represent me or my choice, this week in my city there is a PRIDE, this is a week to be seen if you are LGB, Trans, I assume transgender, and not transsexual all though I am sure the TS will be there, but for me I am not going, nor will I have any part to play in this PRIDE, as it does not represent me or my choice in my life journey..

Transgender people are few and very fragmented.  Transsexuals are a minority among the transgendered.  Groups align to create bigger groups and gain clout.  In fact several transsexuals that have transitioned no longer consider themselves transsexuals but women and are happy to remain stealth.

Who will be in your group?  What is someone does not agree with your opinion will they be removed from group?

Transgender people frequently get left out of some of the LGB gatherings.

Ah.  I agree that trans people frequently get left out.  I disagree with more and more umbrellas.

Annah I read your blog about "->-bleeped-<-r than thou".  It made me chuckle.  I walked into a store as my androynous self.  A tall, pretty, and young trans looked at me and said to her boyfriend, "A transsexual wantabe."  She actually outed herself to me when she talked. Her comment puzzled me.
