based on my experience with Dr. Saran and his asst Ying, I highly recommend him!!  He has perfect bedside manner, is very fluent in English (as is Ying), my results are extremely wonderful....not to mention how he reconstructed my right breast (previous infection causing deformation).  I've got nearly 7" of depth! (doesnt mean you will)
I cant speak about any other surgeon or whether Dr. Saran is better or worse.....I can only speak on my results and experience and I am more than satisfied I chose Dr. Saran.  He really is an asset to the transgendered community, is an altruist in every sense of the word....his perfect bedside manner quickly calms you of any anxiety of being in a foreign country. He has an artists touch with a surgeons hand.  ;)

Thank you Jamie for your post on Dr. Saran.  I am currently researching someone to do my GRS and Dr. Saran is in my top 5 list.  Based on all the good reports about him, not to mention his pricing is within my grasp I am leaning towards him.  -Dora

Sex Reassignment Surgery (SRS)
   + Male to Female
   + Sigmoid Colon

Ok, have to ask! $8,000 VS $13,000? Can someone more learned explain to me the difference?

Anyone have face-work done with him? Priorities priorities . . .

His website lists SRS at $8000. That seems to include hospital stay and everything.

Dr. Saran is an altruist and keeps his prices affordable so that everyone may be able to complete surgery.  He doesnt do this for the money.

Tell more.  Length of stay in hospital.  Do you have to stay in a hotel?

5 days hospital stay then either to a hotel or the 20th floor of the hospital in their "service apartment."  Ying, Dr Saran's asst will pick you up at the airport and either take you directly to Dr. Saran for a consult or to the hospital and check into the "deluxe private suite" as part of you fees.  surgery is on day 3.

Dr. Saran and Ying both speak very very good english but the hospital nurses do not.....but I havent had any problems communicating with them.

Questions time!
1. How was the quality of accommodations?
2. Did you do this solo, or did you have friends with you in Thailand
3. Do you know whose technique Saran uses, or who trained him?
4. How long was your stay in Thailand?
5. Does he have more samples of work when you consult with him?
6. Any estimate how much you spent overall (inc plane ticket, accommodations, food, etc?)

I could ask more, but I don't want to burden you too much, but I am very interested I would like to eventually get SRS within driving distance of my home (Leis and Mcginn are closeish), but costs could be prohibitive, and Dr. Saran seems to have quite nice costs.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

1. 4/5 stars (piyavate hospital and post op service apartment)
2. someone came with me
3. penile inversion,  if not enough then penile inversion with scrotal graft  and if <2" then colon......he was trained by Preecha and used to work at the PAI
4. 2 weeks
5. yes
6.  food, about 4-500 baht per day (post op), room about $50 day.  my plane ticket from the US east coast was $1640, which is a little higher than normal because of summertime travel.
7.  I spent  $8000 vaginoplasty  $4000 to redo my boobs with silicone implants  $1000 tracheal shave

8.  my results are just as good as any other surgeons out there.  from the time you arrive in Bangkok to the day you leave, you are treated with the highest level of courtesy possible.......Dr Saran knows that along with being a patient, you are a customer.

Perhaps we should change the subject line to "Saran Rap." :P

Glad you're happy with the results.

Jamie, I so hope you are physically healing well & emotionally also adjusting to your new body. You had so much done overnight it must be someone what of a challenge to fit in your new body.

One question if I can. How was the tracheal shave? How did it really make a difference in your voice?

PLease have a very nice day & let us all know how you are doing. We all care about you.

Thank you very much for answering my questions Jamie! And again congrats that things went so well. Knowing he came from PAI makes me feel much better about him too.

dr saran does have his own clinic and is always very busy with other procedures away from SRS.  Yeah, at PAI I heard Dr. Preecha only scrubs in and supervises a jr surgeon......
