Moving to larger dilators?

Am I the only one who is having difficulty moving to the larger dilators in the set? Suporn recommended that I gradually introduce the larger dilator after month three, but I can't get the thing in further than three inches! When I go back down to the medium dilation is easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I'm just trying to get a bead on whether or not this is normal. I hope I'm not missing something here...

Try inserting the one largest size that you can get in and keep it in there for, say, 15 minutes.  Then try inserting the large one.  Don't just go straight to the larger one, step yourself up during the same dilating session.

It is perhaps possible you got all the depth you could want but not the girth.  Also, as you increase dilator size you will "lose" some depth due to it going for girth.

I haven't even tried the big one yet but might consider it maybe soon...over the weekend? >>_< how much longer can I put it off? I'm still on three times a day and the evening dilation seems to be the only one I'd feel comfortable trying it. I heard someone say that... if you have for example seven inches depth then you should be able to work it up to around six and half but it can take a long time so don't feel rushed. Three inches so far sounds good! I'd be glad with that within the first fortnight of trying!

Hi,

What are the actual sizes of these? I often see # reference but thats only useful if you have them yourself.

In the UK we are provided 2.5cm and 3cm and just use these.

Larger may be brought but these are the recommended ones so unsure how it equates to # references.

Dr Suporn sizes are:

....small: 26mm / 2.6cm / 1.023inch
medium: 32mm / 3.2cm / 1.259inch
....large: 34mm / 3.4cm / 1.338inch

is that how you'd write the inches?

the # sizes refer to US surgeons 1-4 but I don't know those sizes... actually interested to know now!!! ...

GRS Dilators from SoulSource:

1 1/8" diameter x 9" length (circumference 3.5")
1 1/4" diameter x 9" length (circumference 3.9")
1 3/8" diameter x 9" length (circumference 4.3")
1 1/2" diameter x 9" length (circumference 4.7")

Not sure that all US surgeons use them for their dilators that they give to their patients, but these are what my surgeon gave me.

I didn't understand those scary inches so I converted! >_<

#1 - 28.5mm = 1.125inch
#2 - 31.7mm = 1.25inch
#3 - 34.9mm = 1.375inch
#4 - 38.1mm = 1.5inch

damn I'm stuck on the #2! >_< I got out the biggen this evening, well equiv. #3 and it hurt too much at the end of number #2 so I didn't try :/ It's started feeling bruised again. o_o\

The name of the game? No pain no gain.

Judge for yourself...
GGs will dilate to 100mm dia. when giving birth.
GGs (most) be able, with not to much problem, fitting 60mm dia.

TGs will go up to max. 50mm = <2" due to pelvic restrictions about the vag. channel entry.

38mm (# 4) is a good size to keep "us" out of trouble/pain if having a well build bf.
Hey, size does matter after all :-)

Note: This doesn't mean I'd be ok by these measures.
Yet I do KNOW, that 50mm does fit my "servants entrance" even though that's not my scene really and it also will need quite some "warm-up" time to be ok. Also not any more, because I stopped dilating.

I needed anal dilation for a while to cure haemorrhoids --- and it worked!
Yet after each session it felt like I'm about to loose my anus (pro-laps), so 38mm will be ok if needs must - I guess.

No idea if that gives some perspective, but will tell you more after my GRS... in December.

No pain no gain :-)

When I locate a micrometer I'll messure the set of 5 I've got. After 7 weeks, #1 and #2 go in easily. #3 goes in with some coercion, #4 with a lot of coercion, #5 - I don't know, my vag closes up and leaves the building whenever threatened with it! The points made above about the girth using up saome of the depth makes sense. There really has been no pain with dilation, but not without taking work.

There is still bleeding at times, mostly mixing with lube to make an ugly mess. There are still raw sores on both labia even with the entrance. Is that just a matter of time, or indictitive of a problem? It's obviously a sore area that gets agitated with each dilation, and I assume my age makes healing slower.

Too funny.....I don't bother with #1 or #2.  I have started using #3 with #4 and this weekend i just went with the 4. It takes a little bit of wiggling but it goes.

My partners only uses her two fingers so I'm happy with stopping at #4.

it gets better with time and the more you dilate the better it gets ,I too only use the #4 ,I have been using just the #4 for a few weeks now

Me too. Is there any reason for me using the large size dilators as I'm a lesbian so I only need to accomodate toys?

everyone is different ,you might have some scare tissue ,I to use my 2 fingers first to get the ball rolling , then I would use the num 2 for 5 to 10 mins then move to the num 3  ,I believe right after my 3 month post op appt I started with number 4

Marci had us start on the larger dilators much earlier but even at 4 months post-op, the largest (#4) still literally hurts like HELL for the first minute or two. After that it's just an irritation for the next 13minutes till I can take it out. Thank God it's only 2x a day now......can't wait till it's only once a day.

Four times a day for three weeks to start, and was I glad that went down to three times a day for three, then a week ago down to two, a couple of weeks from now and down to one a day - even better! I know - never satisfied!. Progress I guess; by then I will be looking for the one or two a week schedule.

By-the-way, I messured my dilators: #1 - 1" / #2 - 1-1/8" / #3 - 1-1/4" / #4 - 1-3/8" / #5 - 1-1/2". That eighth-of-an-inch sure makes a difference! I'm still afraid of #5!

4 months already, Debra! Wow, time has gone by so quickly! It seems like not so long ago, but 4 months, cool. Good for you. I imagine you have healed quite a bit by now and life is back to normal.

Dilator #4 still hurts me in the beginning. I will start with #3 for a few minutes then move up to #4. I'm doing twice a week now, I have to force myself to keep it going. Starting to get lazy since I'm not using a steady schedule.

Yeah, once you can go to once a day, I'm sure it is going to feel like freedom, lol.

Yeah it's odd. In one sense, it doesn't feel like it's been 4 months already and yet in another sense, it feels like it's been this way forever.

I actually start out with #2, then #3, then #4 and 4 STILL hurts. But I did find a tiny bit of granulation left and that may be causing some of the problem. Seeing a doc about that again in a week.

Scar tissue usually seems to be the cause of pain during stretching, it always wants to pull in and shrink unfortunately.

Oh, that 'PC' muscle kills too if too much erectile tissue is left during surgery, but that one's easy to correct.
