How do you express your gender to the world around you? Maybe you wear a dress, or a tie, or put on lipstick. You probably don't think about it much, but these are all expressions of your gender identity. Most people only notice gender when they see something that doesn't fit their expectations of "normal." But for others, gender identity is something they think about every day.

Each year in August, people come to Seattle from all over the country to attend the Gender Odyssey conference. There are over 70 workshops dealing with gender identity and expression for families, children and adults. Many of the people attending the conference identify as transgender or intersex. Others are just curious.
