Okay so I've just finished my first year of Games Design at college and i've got one more year to go. I need to start looking at uni courses now but I have no idea what I want to do. I love games design but a part of me thinks that it would not be suitable as a career for me. For one thing it is possibly the hardest industry these days and so only the best of the best get through. Games courses it general tend to be quite broad and cover most aspects but in terms of modelling and scripting im not that good and dont enjoy it. I prefer the pre production stuff such as concept art. I'm also really into writing storylines and cutscenes so unless i find a course that is specific to that I feel doing games design at uni will more of less focus on the parts that im not too keen on. My main ambition these days is to be a writer. I've always been good at it and praised for it through out my academic life and so would really love to give writing books a go. I feel this can be done without going to uni but Im wondering if i should do creative writing. Then I worry that I'll want to go back to games design and if im making the right choice making such a radical change from courses but at the same time if i continue with games design and feel its not right ive wasted a lot of money. I have time to think but i'm just struggling to decide which one is better for me and which I will benefit from.
