Does anyone have experience of going to trans support groups?  I have always kind of assumed that they were pretty much for transsexuals/->-bleeped-<-s, and have been put off as I was not sure of how accepted I would be as a 'third gender' type of person, or if such groups are simply just not aimed at where I am coming from (I am not trying to suggest that TS or TV people are unaccepting in general or anything; a lot of this uncertainty probably comes from my own lack of confidence.).  But recently I have been considering giving them a shot.  So, if anyone here has any such experiences it would be great to hear them.  Cheers :)

Hi

I was in a Trans support group who openly and willingly accepted people who were TG/CD Ando or partners, everyone was welcome to meet and discuss any issues.

If you are unsure email the group and explain your situation.

In my (limited) experience TG people are generally more accepting of non-TG people than the other way around.

It just depends who's there, really. You might get awkwardness from particular individuals, but on the whole it's as Cindy said. I had some discomfort at a trans group with one younger woman who seemed to take my non-femme-ness as a threat/insult to her way of going about it, but the older people there were more chilled out and accepting.

I managed to get myself to 3 out of 6 'meetings'. As most everyone there knew each other, I felt out of place. Until I asked a question that turned into a short topic. They all responded to me after that as if I had always been there. More so than I have ever felt in a group situation. Very humorous people who are not afraid of being taken the wrong way. I'm looking forward to being able to make the next meeting. I need to catch up on all thegoings on for the last couple of months.
I have never felt more accepted or accepting to a group of people like this.
