From time to time, everyone should review their posting style, profiles, etc. Some of us have an intense need to live in stealth. Some of us don't care so much. In any case, here is a list of things you should carefully consider when posting in public.
You've probably seen this basic list before. Think of the web as a bunch of strangers in a park. You shouldn't give strangers any of the following:
Birth name
Chosen name
Street address
Phone number
City or State
Employer, school, church
Friends' names
Social security, financial information, or credit card numbers
Hobbies or activities which might identify you
Name of therapist, support group, clubs you go to, etc.
A good rule: Never email or post anything you wouldn't want everyone to see if it were taped up at work or school.
This is a list I've ripped off another site, so I won't claim credit for its contents. I've been a member here at Susan's for well over 5 years now and have felt very comfortable in the "Just for us" section letting some of my "secrets" out in the open. Still, you should carefully look at what you post and the pictures you post of yourself.
