Reading the item posted in another forum with a mention of CAMH seeming to set up a person to fail to get properly diagnosed at TS and thereby be refused hormones and SRS made me wonder if in fact the therapists there might not actually tick all the boxes of being Munchausen Men - ie being mentally afflicted with Munchausens Syndrome by Proxy.

It was stated back in 1989 that some medcial professionals may have MSbP and secretly enjoy controlling, humiliating and harming their patienst:  quote: " According to Meadow (1982) and others, it is common in classical MSP for the perpetrator to be in a medical or quasi-medical field.  In fact, the knowledge gained by being in the profession can help the perpetrator to fabricate or induce convincing symptoms.  It is only a matter of time before it is recognized that contemporary-type MSP may occasionally be perpetrated by some mental health professionals, social workers, and prosecutors who induce the idea that a child has been abused (Underwager & Wakefield, 1989)."

This sixteen point checklist us sure diagnosis of MSbP and I woudl be interested in hearing of anyone who had the misfortune to be denied therapy, homones ar sugery by a therapist who ticks these boxes whether at CAMH or elsewhere.

I'd be more inclined to believe that a lot of people who enjoy having power over others and making them suffer do so to compensate for a feeling of being out of control and helpless in their everyday lives rather than any sort of mental illness. The thought of that somewhat takes away personal responsibility of the people involved.
