Hey guys so yup it's me again with questions involving moving. I live with my mom and yup our house lease is going to be ending around April so guess what that means... moving time! I get to get out of Florida :) So we are searching the Washington state area to find the best place to live.

Really I guess the question is what sorts of resources can I expect to find there? I don't mind a three hour drive to Seattle if we are in Vancouver and vice versa. So obviously I wouldn't mind the short trip to Portland either if need be. I have found some trans meetings as well as some youth meetings but specifics if you have 'em would be awesome too! Any info is appreciated, even opinions on the areas as well as good and bad (meaning crime ridden looks don't matter too much and since I'm from Orlando I'm talking like bad bad areas not somewhat iffy areas).

So yes, I don't mind rain, in fact I look forward to it! I have high hopes to be able to go north a bit for some good snow and traffic ha! I'm used to it. I put all of this because I posted something similar a year ago and those concerns were brought up to me :) and yes... I am a little hyper right now.

Thanks everyone!

In Portland there is the Q center and if memory serves there is a FtM support group there.  I like Portland, as it is generally Trans-friendly.  Fairview-Gresham is quiet as a rule, and not far to Portland or Vancouver (via the Glenn Jackson Bridge - 205).

Well, welcome to the NW first!

I am not quite sure what kind of resources are you looking for but here are few.

Seattle counseling services or short SCS is where you can get some mental support if needed and in the same building is a Transgender support group meeting every Wednesday. They are called Ingersoll Gender Center and used to be in separate building but money issues forced them out.
"We need queer Youth space" is an young organization of and for young people, not quiet sure what ages but you can find them on Face book easily. They are pretty active and meet regularly.
I get my HRT from Country Doctor since I got no insurance coverage. They have sliding scale pay option so its really affordable.
I don't know your sexual orientation but there was Gay and Lesbian organization for support but they ran out of money so they lost their space for now but if needed you kind of have to look them periodically up online as its just matter of time until they reorganize.

This is all for Seattle.

As for living areas North is a bit whiter and richer than the South end of the city. North is a bit easier to get around without the car but since the light rail went from downtown to the airport, South end is changing too.

Unemployment rate is a bit above the national average so you might want to start browsing the craigslist job classifieds!

Good luck with the move!

I live about 20 miles north of Seattle and attend a great support group in Everett, WA run by "Washington Gender Alliance". I know you were looking for options probably further south, but just thought I'd mention this as an option too in case you guys end up finding something further up north.

Glad you'll be closer! You'll love it out here :)

Florida to the Pacific NW? you're moving from one of the sunniest places in the country to one of the rainiest? That will be interesting!

Don't get me wrong, I love the Pacific NW.. Lived near Tacoma for a while... but it does take a little getting used to, the lack of sunlight!
