so... like the title says... im coming out tomorow. the biggest step is telling my aunt. she's the only family i have left that talks to me. and seeing as i am a pussy (pardon my french) i'm going to write a letter. because if i tell her in person, it's going to be alot more difficult if she has a negative reaction. especially difficult for me to finish explaining or w/e. after i give my aunt the letter and let it soak in... im going to tell all my friends via facebook. (again, i'm a pussy.) this is a huge thing for me, because normally i'm a compulsive liar and i fold quite easily under pressure. the truth isnt very easy for me. :/ so this is like the hardest step for me in my transition. any advice? i'm sweatin bullets here...   :icon_nervious: :icon_weirdface: :eusa_shifty:

Good Luck. Although...I don't know if that is right approuch? I told my friends over the internet/letter....and they seemed like they didn't accept it. But in reality it was just because I didn't tell them in person it hurt them that way.
So I wonder if it is better to tell your aunt in person?

Best of luck man!

My advice would be stay close by when you give her the letter so she can talk about it after she reads it? As for fb my suggestion would be email all of your very close important friends on fb first and then post the news but that's just what I would do so idk

about ur aunt i think it a good idea if u wrote a letter and maybe give it to her face to face and then maybe go out to the shop and give her time to read it and that, and just tell her that u were scared to tell her face to face, or which ever u want to go good luck hope it goes well, i told my mum on email and she was fine about it then talked on the phone after.....about fb thing i told my close friends and they were great about it but it now the rest of them and i don't know if i should tell them on fb yet or not :l

About the facebook thing. I dunno, I'm not an avid facebook user...but when it comes to friends and letters/emails/facebook I think it depends on how close you are. I'd tell my good friends face to face out of respect, then tell everyone else over facebook/email/letter/whatever.

Good luck!

Honestly I think you should tell your aunt in person. I know where you're coming from. Saying it out loud makes it real in a way. And it makes sense. It should make it real. But when I told my closest friend I did it in person and out loud (at work of all places too!) and as terrified as I was I just HAD to say it out loud. She had a good reaction, too. She just hugged me. I hadn't thought she would react like that though.
As far as family, I think you should for sure do it I person. Then you can look them in the eyes and they'll know you're serious. Personally, I don't trust Facebook. People say a lot they don't mean on there. But in person...it makes a difference and like I said it makes it real - not just for you but for who you're coming out to, too.

Just my thoughts. ~

I came out by giving people letters. To add a personal touch, I made my own envelopes out of construction paper too. I gave letters to each of my parents, my closest friends, and a short note to each of my teachers. I'm planning to make a Facebook post on National Coming Out Day to alert everyone else.

Jasper - National coming out day this year is Oct 11th.

Todd,
I came out to my parents by letter because they live hours away and it gave them a chance to soak it all in. My mom e-mailed me back. And shortly after I visited both my parents (they are divorced and live in different parts of a neighboring state). When I saw my dad he hugged me and told me he loved me. My mom needed time and over the past year has slowly come around to asking questions.

I think the suggestion of giving your aunt a letter and being there for any questions is a good idea.

Wish you the best of luck

Troy

If she loves you enough to be the only family member to stay in touch, she will probably be fine with this.    Especially if she sees it as answering any problems you have been having.  Hope it goes well.
Don't be surprised if she asks you what took you so long to see what she suspected for ages. Female relatives often see things more clearly than our immediate family.

Your family here are right behind you.

Karen.

she sent me a text a few hours after i gave her my letter saying that she loves me and always will, and she'd like to talk about it. :) i'm excited and scared at the same time. as for the rest of everyone. i'm going to be sending my closest friends (those who dont know yet) a private message, then announce it publicly as was suggested to me. :) this is the hardest part. everything else will be a breeze.

thanks guys & girls for the support and encouragement! :)

Hi Todd

Like they say....a man has got to do what a man has got to do.
So, you were acting like a man by doing it, you're on your way dude, and congrats with the reaction of your aunt.

Have a smooth transition.

hugs

Definitely sounds like the sort of thing a "good bloke" would do, by being straight with people.  First run on the  scoreboard. :)
