Hi Guys,

I had a question about coming out. I am out to my parents and family with mixed reviews. I've been on T for 2 months and on the 24th of this month I have a court date for name change. My question is that when I change my checking account to Troy ------- I will have to explain to my landlord and not sure what his reaction will be. Him and his wife have become friends and invite me over for dinner often. I hate to lose that. I also have a class mate that lives in Missouri and we talk on the phone quite a bit (I go to an online school). Anyway when my voice starts changing (it's starting to crack) I'll have to tell him. I'm scared to lose all  three of them when I tell them. Any suggestions on how to go about telling them?

Honestly? I'd try dropping some subtle cues and if that doesn't work just try to tell them straight out. It's danged frightening I know. But sometimes...you just have to be blunt for your point to come across. Good luck to you Troy. And many congratulations on getting this far.

Ryan,

Thanks for the advice. I did tell my friend and the outcome was positive. He calls me 'bro'. He said he couldn't care less. He likes me for who I am which I thought was very cool. I plan to tell the landlord at the end of next month because that's when my checking account name will be changed over. Technically he can't kick me out because I'm in a lease but he could make my life miserable. I have a hard time believing he would do that though. I was thinking of telling his wife and let her tell him.

That sounds like a good idea. Girls tend to understand better than guys and are usually more sympathetic towards our type of situations. Good luck!

Thanks Ryan. The more I think about it the more I'm thinking I'm going to do that.

And if her reaction is fine you can always check with her what she'd think is best. As in, you telling him yourself or her telling him.

That is a really good idea Nathan. I didn't think of that.

Thanks
