For those of you that are/were hairy, what did you adopt as your long term solution for dealing with body hair?

Did hormones eventually take care of it? Did you get laser done? Regular waxing/shaving/epilating? Giving in to your "natural" side and not caring?

I'm pretty hairy and body hair is a major source of dysohoria for me. It totally feels out of control. Shaving lasts one day, maybe two. Epilating lasts three or four. Hormones are starting to lighten the color a little and making it a little softer but it's all still there just as coarse and long. I don't think I could afford to laser my whole body. How did you deal with it?

It only took me a month, or 1.5 months, before I only needed to shave maybe once a week, or less.

I mean, your mileage may vary (obviously), but hormones usually do a lot for various areas of body hair (and less for others). Three months in, for me, and my arm hair is so thin, you can hardly see it, even after over a week of not shaving. I think my results are probably more dramatic than average, however.

I have a very deep beard shadow, so electrolysis on the face is a must. It's not too painful, the worst part is the cost. $88 an hour really adds up.

The rest of my body is almost all vellus hairs, so I just shave my chest, belly, and forearms.

I've been Nair-ing the hair off mostly.
I have thick hair and non sensitive skin so thats what works best for me. (I come from a hairy mom and dad >.>)

I'm only a month in HRT and the hair still grows back.
but I have noticed that it grows slower and the hair isn't as dark or thick.

So don't worry about the whole hair issue :)
it should all thin out and go away the longer you're on HRT I assume.

Laser is probably your best option if you have thick dark body hair, but I'm sure you already know it's expensive. Maybe look into a home laser product like the tria laser system? For around $500 dollars it ain't cheap either but it's a good investment.  :D

My body hair isn't quite dark or coarse enough for laser, at least as far as I know. However, it's still very noticable, and disgusting, and a major source of discomfort for me. I can't remove it permanently without electrolysis, is my guess. And electrolysis for the body sounds like a very expensive venture... I will do that at some point, I guess, but I'll just have to live with hair for now I guess.

8 months of HRT took care of all of my body hair issues on my chest, stomach, back and arms. It's a lot thinner on my thighs and lower legs and still getting lighter. I shaved my legs last night and they are still baby smoothe!

I used to get rashes and ingrown hair from shaving legs but I don't any more. I would not spend money on laser (besides face) until you have been on HRT for a year and you arent getting the results that you need.

Same as you... I'm lucky that I didn't grow any chest, shoulder, or back hair, but I have hair on my forearms and lower legs.  My arm hairs aren't dark or coarse, but there are A LOT of them and they're quite long.  If I let them grow out, rubbing my arms feels like petting a cat.  It's very noticeable and disgusting.

For legs, the hairs are darker, but not coarse.  Unlike my arms, they might respond to laser.

What bugs me more than anything is that these hairs also cover the backs of my hands, every joint on every finger, the tops of my feet, and all of my toes except the little toes.  I need to shave every two days or it becomes very noticeable.  I also have huge pores around these hairs, meaning that my skin isn't the least bit soft or feminine-looking on my forearms and lower legs (this bugs me most on the hands and feet).

After nearly a year on HRT, the thickness, amount, and distribution of my body hair hasn't changed one bit.  I brought this up to my doctor and she told me that body hair changes are a myth and not to expect anything there.  I didn't know what to say to that comment...

Jessica, it's results like yours that make me very envious, not to mention the ladies that didn't start with much hair.

I've been on hormones for more than 10 months and there hasn't been any reduction.

OMG Zoe, that totally set off my dysohoria! Just add the chest, back, some shoulder hair and make it dark and you totally describe me! My hobbit feet are gross! My doctor said that you get some reduction after a year but she's still quite hairy herself.

I'm starting to feel that transition is all about hair. Too much here, not enough there. Naked apes my ass!

She seriously said that?  I went from having to shave my arms every couple days to the hair being virtually invisible.  I have like 5 wispy hairs left on my chest, when there used to be plenty that was totally visible.  My legs had a fair amount of coarse visible hair, now if I don't shave them for a week you wouldn't be able to even tell from more than 3 feet away.  I'm not buying that that was a coincidental stroke of luck that started happening a few months after starting HRT.  I wish boob growth was a myth too, I'd have a C cup...

I think your hair will start thinning a) with time, and b) once you get your dosages worked out.  It may not go away 100%.  Or maybe I just lucked out, IDK.

I hope that's the case, because after almost a year, I've seen no change in the body hair department.  Or skin oil.  My face is still a disgusting oil slick too.  At least my T isn't still at 650 like it was in December.  It was 39 as of two weeks ago, not as good as the 9 it was at in April, but it's better than 650.

I keep hoping to see the changes everyone else talks about, but it's just not happening. :(

Also wish I could find a proper endocrinologist, but after calling quite a few, it looks like there isn't one in Denver who'll do HRT.  And none of the trans people I know here know of an endo either.  If anyone in Denver knows better and can give me a recommendation, shoot me a PM!  I'm desperate!

Been there, I like to.  I cannot even find a doctor for my other problems!  I have to go to urgent care.  PM me if you can find one!

My face gets shaved every other day, I haven't shaved the rest of the body since April due to the thinning there.  I had the typical older male crucifix of hair across my chest and all the way down to the crotch.  There isn't enough hair around the navel to collect lint now.

My doc prescribed Proscar which I think helped a LOT with the unwanted hair.

I so totally relate to that statement. My feet have always been my most admired/feminine feature (foot fetish anyone?) and yet I look like an ogre with the hair on my toes.
I should be thankful that I was always quite a hairless guy, but it's always the little things that piss us off the most isn't it ? Damn it.. I'm really pissed off now !!!

hmmm.. time for a pedicure I think.

Hormones stopped facial hair, body hair (chest, back, arms, etc) completely, only things that still grow are armpits/pubes/legs (though i only need to shave those maybe once a month to keep it smooth and hairless). It took maybe 6 months for hormones to kill it all completely

Heading for 6 months and my body hair has become much finer and slower growing. I shave the bits I can reach probably once a week, and get my back and shoulders and legs waxed.  I shave my arms, and for the fingers and knuckles get out the tweezers. :o
It is definitely getting better.  I have definite scalp hair regrowth too, which is supposedly impossible as well. :)

While omitting dosages would you mind describing your hormone cocktail? And how was the hair situation before you started? I haven't noticed any change on body hair except on my face, which in the end only served to revoke my good candidacy for laser.  ???

HRT has worked exceptionally well for my body hair, with the exception of my pubic region, and my leg hair. As for my belly/chest hair, even the tiny bit of back hair I had, it's nearly completely gone.
