No, not for that! (At least not yet... :'()

Two weeks ago, I started seeing a wonderful therapist. Predictably, she said it's a bit soon for hormones. In the meantime, she understands how immensely antidepressants would help. That's why she set me up with her endocrinologist.

Problem is, I know the medication like the back of my hand (I'm only off it because I couldn't afford it). If all I did was pick up that script, I feel like I'd be wasting our time. So I have two questions for all of you:

  • What was your first endo appointment like?
  • Is there anything I can do to lay the groundwork for when I do start HRT?

For example, one thing I'm thinking of now is asking for a blood test. HRT is months in the future, though. Would it make sense to do one this early? Could it "get it out of the way" for later, or would I be wasting money on a test that will go "stale" by the time HRT starts?

I would ask the endo that very question.  Even if tests aren't recommended at this point, they could probably give you some useful advice and information that you wouldn't find elsewhere.

Take good care of yourself.
If you take oral hormones this places a heavier load on your liver. Consider drinking more water, eat more verggies, or even consider the 8 week liver detox diet( yes, I know, I'm one of those!)

Most important... Be safe

I guess I did kind of answer my own question there. :P You're completely right, though. I don't know why I still have this unconscious urge to be coy about this.

Truth be told, I am worried about how the minoxidil is affecting my blood pressure. I think I might be responding too well to it. *sigh* Maybe I've got a lot more to tell him than I thought.
